Nope, shiv...that was the real deal.
These people take Mortal Kombat titles out for a spin on whatever platform it's on, and with the announcement of Deception on the list of X-Box 360 compatible games, they had to test it out.

Besides which, what exactly would a Mortal Kombat site gain from slandering the X-Box 360?
If you read the report more thoroughly, you would see that they noted some good points about it, such as the improved rendering and whatnot.

But, partner, I'll be honest with you.
A whole lot of people are complaining about the system doing that nonsense, and this definitely is NO heating problem, because those problems you saw on video TOOK PLACE AS SOON AS THE GAME SYSTEM WAS BOOTED UP. That's barely enough time for a system to overheat to the point where the game screws up.

And, news flash....sales figures means absolutely NOTHING about a system's product performance. As I recall, a record number of people bought out PSPs in the mere weeks it came out in Japan, only to have the majority returned because of the sticking square button and dead pixels. How do you know this isn't that all over again.

And damn...stop making excuses for the system.
'Oh...that video must be a fake emulation' and 'Oh, guys...the system is overheating' just sounds like you're being defensive of the system. I haven't seen you pony up any proof that it's overheating problems other than by word of mouth, man. I know you're anxious to get your hands on the system, but don't let that cloud your judgement.

Honestly, you should take that as a buyer's beware and wait until Microsoft deals with this problem.
Otherwise, you'd risk buying some defective piece of merchandise that could screw you up the same way it did so many people right now. True, there are some people who are not complaining, but, then again, there are many who are. It's the same story with the PS2 and the ever-conking out lens, and the PSP with the dead pixels. Don't risk losing your money when it's so much better invested in an X-Box 360 that has been tested and proofed against such errors. Letting the hype rule plain consumer common sense will end up hurting you in the long run. True, you might get a system that works all right, but right now, that's like shooting at a target blindfolded.

Don't say I didn't warn you.

EDIT: Well, at least Microsoft's willing to do something about it.
Good news, at least.

I have played 5 separate XBOX 360 consoles. I have played at least 5 different games on these 5 consoles. I have played HALO 2,MKD, and FIFA 2004 for the system. I did this because i dont want to buy a system and see it playing like crap. I didnt see ANY PROBLEMS whatsoever.

I didnt see any fail boot, no crash, no disc scratch when it vertical , no nothing. If i DID i woulda tell you. AND i woulda say MS do sh!t and i not buying that system until they fix them problems. I well check for all these things.

If i play 5 differnt systems that padnaz own AS WELL AS the how many that sit down in EBGames WHOLE DAY turned on playing games and they never say they had a crash. I would assume as much. I asked 2 Gamestop stores and 1 EB Games stores in my area, Tower shops, Sawgrass Mills and Pembroke Pines if they got any calls of damaged or systems not booting.......NOT ONE......NONE.......ZE-RO

Now i know the only info alyuh get is what alyuh read. But i prefer to hear it and SEE it myself. And since i CAN, i am doing that. Mih cuz in trini bought one in NY and he have it home there with about 8 games. He doh have any problems yet either. and he killing COD 2 night and day.

I know i am defending the console. EVERYONE knows im MS biased. I wouldnt LIE however when i tell you, even though i want MS to run tings in the Video Game business, i not stupid. If they do SH!T with the system, i not buying it

If you didnt realise, despite the press, this is the BIGGEST LAUNCH of games with a console. EVER.  Of course they have a shortage, i have no idea why. Some say its a business strategy. I HOPING it is rather than a rush launch and they understocked.

But enough speculation and back to the facts. I was hearing and reading the same thing in Japan about the PSP's. But JK get nuff PSP's from Japan from launch. You couldnt find one in US or Canada for almost 2-3 months. I went i look, couldnt find none. Anyway, JK had no problems with button sticking or pixel error. I not saying it didnt happen, but i AM saying, the media does LOVE to exaggerate a story. we all know this.

Doh take any offense NEO i not vex or anything. I love a healthy argument. And I just providing info for everyone although i am biased. And of course the info you have you didnt write or anything. You just letting us know. But i never hear bout that site in my life, nor do i care to. And after PLAYING MKD i eh see no problems with the game, i dunno where they get their info OR video from. So from playing the thing i eh see nuttin wrong.

Take a look at Metacritic site. "the UNDERWHELMING (assortment) of games".....hmmm!! And this is the biggest value of launch titles for a console. But i not taking them on. They does just post what they see, they arent reviewers themselves like IGN or Gamespot, they just post info.....wtf them know?

of course i prolly lucky and play 5 perfect working systems as well as the ones in EB games, well i mean OF COURSE EB an dem not gonna put out a buss system on display. They want sales.

Anyway. If somehow i manage to get one i go bring it up to GATT. Alyuh men decide what alyuh think for alyuh self. No scene if yuh doh like it, i like it. Im saying what you read and what really going on does always be different. Up here men busy busy lookin for XBOX 360, everyone want one, people cyah find one. I spend whole day saturday in Sawgrass and a goin thru KMARt and Best Buy an ting lookin for a system ....nothing

Well shiv, just because your system works okay doesn't mean others are automatically fine.
I never said ALL were defective, but there are a lot of reports about malfunctioning X-Box 360 systems.
You never gauge the performance of the entire production line just by one to four systems. That's like taking a plastic glass out of a box of glass ones, dropping it and declaring all unbreakable because that one didn't break. Go on Google and run a search on 'X Box 360 crash' and you'd see a lot of articles, one from BBC, which describe user complaints with the system. So 'my friends systems working fine therefore no problem with the X-Box 360!' does not hold water.

And TMRK videotaped the video themselves and put it up on Google Video. Weren't you paying attention to the article?

Just do yourself the favour, shiv.
Wait until Microsoft addresses the problem or the situation boils over and then buy your X-Box 360.
If even they are acknowledging the problem, why keep denying it? Would you, as a Trini, spend $399 up there only to chance coming down here with a defective model, and then have to go through all the tra-la-la with Microsoft and their refund policy? I wouldn't. That's why most people WAIT. Not only will future production runs address the problems of the first, but the price may eventually drop.

And, on a side note, yes, the titles for the launch of the system are pretty underwhelming.
The only reason people are picking up the system right now is to play improved versions of existing X-Box games like Halo 2 and FIFA.

Its just like PS2, the DS, even movies like Matrix. People expect sooooooooooo much. Nothing wrong with expecting allot. But if you ask WHAT they expect. They cannot say. the hype was BIG because of these games, and these games DELIVERED.....so i dont see the problem.

All Hyped Up

While most gamers are eagerly awaiting the arrival of next-gen gaming, as promised by the big console manufacturers, some voices of discontent are beginning to make themselves heard. The recent MegaGames feature on the next-generation PC has pushed readers to contact us with some, little-known details, regarding the hardware of the so-called, next-generation consoles and the performance we can expect from them. The recent MG story suggested that a lot of money would have to be spent on a PC in order to match next-generation console performance but the information coming from developers and at times the manufacturers themselves, is that …the Xenon and Cell CPUs are not even in the same realm of performance as the Pentium 4 or Athlon 64.

It appears that, in Microsoft’s case, the need to keep costs low has sacrificed true next-gen performance while, in Sony’s case, the need to use proprietary methods in order to maintain exclusivity has also resulted in the sacrifice of any next-gen prospects. What we are guaranteed to see however, are true next-generation prices and unique subscription technologies that will, wirelessly, empty your wallets. It seems that the entire gaming community will help see Mr. Gates, Mr. Allard, Kutaragi-san and other CEOs feature their respective Cribbs and rides on some MTV show.

So read on to find out exactly what the console manufacturers don’t want you to know, as we reveal the real next-generation console war…

and for the PS3-haters...

Description
Sony has reacted to recent rumors that claimed that Playstation 3 games would only be playable on the console they were first used on. The Japanese consumer electronics giant claims that this is not the case and that PS3 titles will be playable on any PS3 console.

The stories, which begun surfacing a week ago, suggested that a new technology would be introduced by Sony that would include an authentication code carried by each game. Once that code had been read by one PS3 machine it would be unreadable by others. This technology would mean the end of the second hand games market as well as the end of rentals. It was immediately suggested that the recent rants by Epic's Mark Rein regarding the evils of rentals and second-hand sales was a sign that developers were on-board.

Sony has now gone on record regarding these stories to the Guardian in the U.K. and Jennie Kong, UK PR Manager at SCEE said: I would like to clarify that this is false speculation and that PlayStation 3 software will not be copy protected to a single machine but will be playable on any PlayStation 3 console.

This pretty much puts an end to the rumors, although the detailed accounts of how the authentication system will work suggest that Sony had, at some point, considered such a route. It is still not clear if the authentication technology will be used with Blu-ray at all or if it was simply a research project that will not be utilized in the market place.

Re: EVERYTHING Xbox 360
« Reply #91 on: November 30, 2005, 12:02:12 AM »
Just to make a point. I doh hate PS2 because of the games. The 2 best games i play this year on PS2. Shadow of the COlossus and Resi 4. I doh like how SONY does like to cut corners and make cheap consoles that cyah take lix. Other than that though, i like PS2 too bad, especially since all the anime games on it

But what i worried about the PS3 is this Blu Ray. Sure its cool but what is the biggest selling factor ofthe PS2 and PSOne? It isnt just the games its the fact that the games are easy as hell to burn and play. I mean you dont even need a modchip to play games in the PS2 and One you just need a boot disc. So this Blu Ray scene have me thinking.......okay cool more capacity for games an ting, but then, how man goin and copy he games? All the games using Blue Ray? or is it something they goin to use later down the line? And how much them blanks gonna cost?

The biggest reason the GCN didnt sell isnt because of the games alone, but that the games were hard as f*ck to copy. System had a 128bit encription code and a constant spining ROM drive that spins in the OPPOSITE direction, if you burn a game it wont play because its read backwards. Thats why when you download a GCN iso file its actually backwards so when its burnt it plays forwards. But the point is the modchip that everyone wanted on the GCN only come out at the end of the console era

The PS2 was the first system of the past get to be hacked and cracked. It take man a lil while to burn XBOX games, certain XBOX games have a different file, i think the .xbe file. In other words the same thing eh go work all the time on each XBOX game, well unless yuh just get the ISO file. Now i see MS gorn an make their own HDD. So is not like a regular PC HDD go work right away. Makes you wonder if the PS3 gonna do that too.

Also alyuh notice SONY doh make a scene like MS when you burn and go online with thier stuff. MS bans your XBOX and your credit card you used for LIVE, so you eh really wanna f*ck with them. SONY does just say f*ck off and come back when you have an original game.....

Actually that speculation on the games being tagged to a console was really for the Japanese market. You see its illegal to rent games in Japan, it lowers the sale of games. So what they do is buy used games and re-sell them, and even that have the Japanese VG industry kinda upset. In other words they wanted to force gamers there to buy games themselves. Guess it didnt work.

Well i guess is like when people first heard of CDR's and DVDR's....well for DVDR especially, people were wondering how much a dvd burner gonna cost...how much a blank gonna cost...prices were high when it first came out...then dropped. I think it would take a matter of time to see how it goes. It could as easy end up like the CDR and DVDR market...and then again...it could not.

But what i glad to hear is about the not being able to play games on other ps3 systems...glad that myth was dispelled.

Time is the key.
