Actually, it should be the opposite. The achievements that I could not do before, I could finally do. Examples: Get 100 kills with the chainsaw, Play Co-op levels.
LMAO... hear dis man, he thinks is a seta NPC or n00bs on Live. Granted there are, but usually you're NEVER that lucky. Live will SLOW your acheivement rate ask ANYONE who's on it (save those that only sweat dem arcade games). Dread the minute I got Live, meh achievement rate went down. Granted I started with COD2 which has NO acheivements on LIVE, then Halo 2 (also NO acheivements on Live) then came GOW (which does have achievements, but to say yuh gonna easily get 100 chainsaw kills in RANKED Matches... LMAO). Dude yuh eh see masterchief play yet and he eh have 100 of those, so TRUST ME it WILL slow yuh down. On an aside though, if yuh real GOSU it could happen. Get a working DSL connection to run Live on and we go sweat. After we see how good yuh are we go talk again.

Hey Viv, the game treats Co-op like single player, you get the same achievements. So if you were to start the game from fresh without the achievements, and you played co-op on Insane throughout the entire game, you would unlock all the Hardcore achievements, cause you would have had to beat it on Casual first to unlock Insane. Plus you can collect the COG tags during Co-op, same achievements. The only ones you wouldn't get is the Ranked match achievements for 100 kills etc using chainsaw, stomp, pistol etc...You need to upgrade your connection. What I don't get it how can you connect to live and still not play online, have you tried a direct connection to your modem without using your PC at the same time? Seems strange that it lets you connect but you can't play on Live. Oh well....

The only reason Masterchief08 doh have those Ranked achievements is cause I don't play Ranked Matches. I need a good team to play with so that we don't get raped by those men that play 24/7, then you really don't get achievements. Once we set and ready to play ranked then we can get those achievements. I play with guys that have all the achievements, but they play as clans etc...so. It's a shame Vivman can't play on Live, he would see for himself how those guys beast that game on Live. No scope sniping and men dancing around you as you bleeding out pretending to f&*K you in yuh ass as you there dying. W1nTry knows that all too well. LOL.

HYMC LOL!!! but that is the point, they have REAL BEAST on Live and if yuh doh have a good team is LEVEL rape iymc. SO those 'ranked' achievements not that easy to come by. I am sure there are other games with LIVE that could be a better way to get those acheivement points. But as MSCHF pointed out a while ago, apart from some small measure of bragging rights, achievements are pretty useless save for showing if yuh have a life or not (more poinnts showing you don't) as yuh cyah do nothing with them. IF they would only allow you to use it as credits or somethign, that would be sweet!

I think that's Microsoft's plan for the future W1n, to let you use the gamerscore points later on to buy stuff, but they haven't implemented it yet. It'll be madness with people trying to score more points. I think the man with the highest Gamerscore on Live is a man with 110,000+ points. He have NO LIFE!!

Yeh, I guess it depends which games you have. Each game varies with their Live achievements. These are the ones I have that I need Live to complete the achievements:

Gears of War - Sounds more difficult based on your descriptions although some are a bit easy (play in one ranked match).

Call of Duty 3 - Quite a bit for Live. Not sure how difficult.

Madden 07 - One just for entering a Live game.

Table Tennis - A few for entering and winning a game. Also quite a few more for winning streaks, etc.

Perfect Dark Zero - Probably need Live to do Co-op.

Project Gotham Racing 3 - Online racing needed for some achievements. There is one just for watching Gotham TV.

I read that the guys at the top of the Gamerscore list use cheats to boost their scores. I think they download saves or something and load them on the 360 hard drive. I can't see how someone can get that many points unless they own virtually every game available.

Well some men just rent games from Gamefly, Blockbuster etc, that way they don't have to buy but still get achievements. Never heard about that cheating with the downloads though, I'll look into that.

Crixx, every Xbox 360 game has Achievement points to unlock. Each game has 1000 points to unlock, for various accomplichments within the game, like getting 100 kills, reaching a certain level, etc. Each Live Arcade game has a maximum of 200 points to unlock, so basically the more you play each game the more achievements you unlock. It's a form of ranking, or bragging rights as such but I believe Microsoft has mentioned turning the Gamerscore achievement points into points that can be used to purchase stuff. They have not implemented it yet, but it's sort of a reward system for gaming so much. Right now in order to buy stuff you pay for Microsoft points on Live that are used like Xbox Cash to buy Arcade games, download movies, etc. Hopefully that answers your question.

Here is one article on Gamerscore cheating:

http://xboxzone.com.au/forums/viewtopic.php?t=7712

To Crixx: Achievements are basically for those people who would do things like beat Halo on Legendary or collect all the Platinum bolts in Ratchet and Clank. Now, there is proof that you actually did it so you can show it to anyone who wants to see. It also gives you a reason to go further in a game than you would normally or even play a game that you would not generally play. Finally, a lot of the games have achievements for online play and this can entice you to get Xbox Live and jump in. I played through Gears of War twice just to get the extra points for beating it on Insane mode. That is proof enough that it is a great idea and it works.

Three things I really really love about Microsoft direction.

1) Establishing the XBOX 360 controller on the PC platform.

It is no argument that console controllers are superior to the PC offerings. While we can buy adapters to get N64/PS2/XBOX/Dreamcast/etc... controllers to work on the PC, they are not native. That is, games are not designed for the PC with those particular controllers in mind. Microsoft's effort will give PC games a defacto controller. Something that has been sorely lacking over the years.

2) Merging console and PC gamers. A brilliant idea! Blurring the lines between the two factions and opening up the multiplayer potential of both camps. No longer shall we stand divided.

3) Integrating the console and home entertainment center with the home PC. This has always been a challenge. Now it will be all the easier to get media from your PC across to your TV/Home Entertainment center via your console. Personally, I use a second computer just to do that and it is grossly under utilized. A console is a much smarter choice.

Unreal Tournament 3 cross platform as well? Boy that makes for an interesting matchup. GOW runs absolutely smooth on the 360 with the Unreal Engine, why not Unreal 3?

To use some words from Martin Luther King:
"I have a dream, that one day, PC and console gamers will play together"

Looks like this is becoming more and more a reality.....

No online mode = teh sux0rz

It's 2007 and Sega is pulling this type of nonsense. Unbelievable. I was considering this game, but now that I know there's no online mode I certainly won't be purchasing it now.
