Playstation Home has the capability to play old arcade games in virtual cabinets right? Haven't loaded up Home in months.

Yes. But to play on those virtual cabinets you have to stand in a virtual line up.

Yeah more interested in what Natal has to offer, not really into those retro games. I probably loaded up Home once to see how it was.

Halo Reach Details
http://g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/701858/TheFeed.html?utm_source=g4tv&utm_medium=twitterblog&utm_campaign=so-0907-twitterthefeed-701858&cmpid=so-0907-twitterthefeed-701858#ixzz0cbwIjVZc

Quote
A ton of details of Halo: Reach are revealed in February's Game Informer magazine. The 10-page feature drops some amazing details about the upcoming game. Here are some of the stand-out points:
Reach is a prequel to Halo: Combat Evolved.
The protagonists are The Noble team, a six-person squad with different looks and weapons specialties.
The color palette will be darker than previous Halo games, reflecting a darker emotional tone.
The Covenant will be scarier in this Halo, and will feature deep, creepy voices.
The game will support battles with up to 40 AI opponents, twice as many as Halo 3.
Health will not replenish, like in the original Halo.
New weapons include the marksman rifles (mix of a sniper and battle rifle) and the "needle rifle" that will blow people up if they're hit by a number of shots in a row.
Armor will provide special abilities. Stealth and extra-speed are mentioned.
Multiplayer will offer all the options of Halo 3, and add some as-yet undisclosed new wrinkles in the game.

There are a bunch more details in Game Informer, of course; so check your newsstand for it. Halo: Reach is a 360 exclusive that comes out this fall.

anxiously awaiting this
when does the beta start?
still gotta organise meh 360 and odst fast :(

nooooo
Halo a campfest? i doubt
if u referring to d abilites i see it more like kz2 class setup tbh

i do see this 1 being different tho
having classes etc BUT i hope bungie doesnt do make the same mistake IW did

if u gonna copy certain stuff copy the good ones dont copy crap like tactical insertion, marathon + lightweight combo aka boost, sentry guns

those things were hated in other games
also i hope they leave weapon pickups as it adds more strategy to the game because spawnin with any weapon u want is retarded

and plenty arena style maps :)

weapon pick ups can be equally lame (if not more) in MP gaming, especially team based games.

I just hope the gameplay mechanics do not feel as floaty as Halo normally does.

i disagree
having power weapons (aka rocket launcher , sniper etc) located in KEY locations on the map means the teams hav to fight to control those weapons which in turn PROMOTES player movement and DECREASES CAMPING.

If players dont move and work as a team to secure the power weapons then its a free pickup for the other team which in turn would cause u to lose the match.
Halo, Gears and Uncharted have nailed this on the consoles and this is the ONE area where kz2 failed allowing ppl to spawn with power weapons (kz2 was never a campfest tho)

if ppl can spawn with a sniper or rocket it gives them absolutely 0 reason to move about the map an lock down the power positions an promotes ppl stayin in 1 spot or certain spots an makes the game very boring to watch and play (aka mw2)

I don't like having to collect weapons in a game, prefer to configure my loadout before going into battle. Though I do prefer objective games instead of regular team deathmatch.

It is VERY BADD!!!

However, I find the 'realistic' and 'simulator' control schemes a little TOO unforgiving with the physics.
I spent more time recovering from stalss than actually shooting stuff up.  Not cool.

If Namco don't make an Ace Combat game, it looks like nobody have the 'balls' to make another flight
combat game on console.

If I only buy 3 more games for the year, this has to be one.

so did you ever buy the IL2 sturmovik game?

Actually, I'm going to buy the PC version of this game, entitled 'Wings Of Prey' off Steam.

Of course it'll look nicer, plus there will be some 'extra stuff' that the console versions didn't have.

Not to mention it cheaper too. :)

CTF is the only mode in mw2 that promotes player movement yet ppl still camp alot for killstreaks

Headquarters is decent but still campy wen u lock down the HQ

SnD....campfest central
1 life, 2 shots to die, that doesnt sound like it encourages player movement at all
and to boot players with headsets can hear u moving a mile away which makes it even easier for us so ur forced to hav ninja pro, if not then 0 reason for me to move as i can jus sit back an tell exactly where ur coming from and ambush u

most of the maps in mw2 are campy
highrise CTF is probably 1 of the best if not THE best gametype imo

in a tactical shooter like socom (1&2) and rainbow 6 and CS yes weapon pickups wud be nuisance and not suited to the game

but for games like halo, gears, u2 etc yes
think about how annoying and campy those games wud be if ppl cud spawn with the sniper or rocket in h3 and u2 or the boomshot or torque bow in gears?
pretty annoyin right?

Weapon pick ups in team based games just do not work unless is a totally casual sweat.

Maybe we should ask Jasonjohn what he meant with his comparison of Reach and MW2, we off on a tangent discussing camping when chances are he talking about potential sales figures.

Halo is MLG's flagship game......it has weapon pickups and is not casual in the slightest if u hav played the MLG playlist

Gears is also MLG's 2nd game an it too has weapon pickups again not casual or it wudnt be used......

but yes we did get off track talkin bout camping maybe jasonjohn can explain further his point

I think my console may have finally reached the point where it is starting to degrade.
It has outlasted all of the Xboxes purchased by GATTers pre-2008, but I'm not
surprised at what is happening now.

Imagine, the console itself is overheating and shutting down while idle at the dashboard.
That can't be good.  Maybe I should just take in front and buy an Arcade system?
The thing is, I want to ensure that I get one of the newer Jasper units.

It could be, also, that this room too damn HOT.

I ususally have it on continuously from Friday evening when I get home (6pm) to Sunday night (around midnight).
Roughly 48 hrs...and most of that time, in idle status.  Now keep in mind, I used to leave it on for days on end,
and I never had this problem, so I'm sure some gradual degradation of the hardware has taken place.

I will have to decide, based on the number of upcoming Xbox exclusive games that I may actually want to buy, if its worth
supporting this console.

Xbox Live is amazing, but M$ making it expensive to keep supporting em.

Arcman you real get your money's worth out of that 360 yes. If I had a 360 that lasted more than 2 years I woulda be so happy.

I think all new 360's now are jaspers though I dunno how reliable they are.

Well, you know I couldn't settle for my console's shoddy performance.

I decided to throw caution (and warranty) to the wind and open it up...

The first thing I thought was: 'wayyyyyy, look at ole DUST'.  Out came the vacuum cleaner and brush.
One point of note: this console is a real bitch to open unless you have one of these.

Approximately three hours later, my Xbox is now running nice and cool.  The air comng out the back even feels cooler.
I may have to devise some sort of mesh to cover all those intake holes and try to trap
some of that dust, but for now, we back in business.  :happy0203:

To make sure I just wasn't fooling myself, I fired up DiRT, a game with pretty intense graphics,
and one which would actually cause the console to overheat after a few minutes of gameplay.
It has been an hour since I started, and I can safely say I have this problem licked.

All this leads me to speculate on just how many Xboxes may have died prematurely, because their
owners didn't catch this in time to remedy it.

Still...one shouldn't have to resort to this to 'maintain' a console, but think about it.  Consoles have gotten
so much nearer to PCs now in terms of the hardware, is it any wonder now that we will have to start treating
them the same way when it comes to maintenance and/or cooling solutions?
