Well it is here, the 7900 GT
Installed and going to take it for a spin in Spellforce 2 now then 3DMark 2006 next.
Well Spellforce ran considerably better. I turned up all the bells and whistles and the game still runs better than it did before with the 7600 GT. However, when a ton of units engauge in battle, it still slows down a bit.
Judging from my 3DMark Scores as well, I would have to say the CPU is holding me back now. The Sempron 2800 just cannot feed this monster fast enough. Time to upgrade again.

Yeah, most definitely.
Now I have to decide whether to go for an OC-ed rig or the best stock CPU I can afford.
decisions, decisions.
AMD 64 3800 (Non dual core) FTW?
As for 3rdParty...if you mean the brand of the 7900GT, it an EVGA 7900 GT CO. Same as my 7600.

There's a 3800? Didn't even know that. Yuh might have to get a new motherboard though.
Go with the DFI NF4-D, or the SLI version.

Well I read that it was the 7900 GTX that was givin the most trouble, not their 7900 GT, since the GTX is clocked a lot faster.
So my fingers and toes crossed.
Yeah boy Arc, new mobo for sure, cause I runnin on 754 right now. I figure the plain vanilla 3800 would be better all round since it has a higher mhz rating than it's dual core brethren.
Rise of Legends hit me a slap in the face last night, saying my processor to slow to turn on three gameplay options.
The Sempron 2800+ is a 1.6Ghz CPU and they want minimum 2.0Ghz to turn on those additional bells and whistles.
Upgrade immc

I've decided on a CPUafter extensive research (reading tomshardware.com till your eyes bleed).
AMD Athlon 64 3400+ 1600MHz HT Socket 754 (2.4 Ghz 512K l2 Cache)
US$149.00 street price.
Sweet part being, I don't have to change my mobo. Going 939 and a higher rated cpu would have netted only marginal gains over this chip after pouring over benchmarks. Definitely not worth the $$ in my book.
Stay tuned for the new benchmarks when the chip arrives.

Well this is a shocker.
Just swapped the 2800+ Sempron with my old A64 3000+ and saw a massive 1096 score improvement in 3D Mark 2005 and an equally impressive 461 jump in 3dmark 2006
Resulting in these much more respectable figures.

Well I have just updated Official Benchmark list.
Current Standings are as follows:
1st Place:
Veggieman:
*********
AMD 64 3000
1 GIG OCZ Gold(2-2-2-5)
DFI Ultra D
BFG 7800GT
250GB HDD
3dmark 2005 8234
2nd Place:
Baego Home PC Upgrade:
********************
AMD Athlon 64 3000+ 754
1GB MeemSelfKnow Branded Memory 400MHz
nForce4 4X Socket 754 ATX Audio/GbLAN/SATA/RAID
250GB ATA Hard Drive (Still don't trust SATA)
7900GT 256MB PCI-Express (500/1500)
3dmark 2005 7614
3dmark 2006 3996
Third Place:
Czar:
****
AMD 64 3500+ stock
DFI LANParty nF4 Ultra-D
eVGA 256MB 7800GT CO

3dmark 2001 23120
3dmark 2003 15490
3dmark 2005 7367
I am certain the standings are about to change with Prowl's monster rig on the loose. Also Trinithereturn is surely gonna claw away at a top spot thanks to his Core 2 Duo.
Gentlemen, start your engines.

yeah, that is a solid 1240 3dmark 2006 points he has over me. Surely blazing into #1 with that.
I am curious to see how many Veggie's rig can push but he only gave us 3dmark 2005 scores.

Its more 'authentic' I think if you capture the entire desktop, but I agree that the pics should be made smaller. A simple pic resize should do the trick.
