well, I must say first off that I am a lineage 2 player and I enjoy the game . Lineage 2 is a great game and I enjoy it thorughly. I have read the majority of this thread and realised that both groups of you guys need to give the game equal chance, which is about 2 or 3 months. I am going to buy WoW soon, as soon as I get the money but that doesn't mean that I am going to crossover, I am going to give it a fair chance and play through it. I have seen screen shots of WoW and I have to give lineage the character models cake, lineage textures are superior and the weapons and armours are interesting and detailed. however I have seen WoW environments and in linegae the only times you get to see things that impressive is with the tower of insolence and aden castle. Each game has its strong points and it really boils down to preferance. When I get my copy of WoW and play it throughly I will post my findings. please keep your cool guys, you can argue and be civil at the same time, it's called a debate ^_^

Teaspoon, I've played Lineage for a few weeks through two open betas. I'm not talking about the game without knowing about it.

I made up my mind which one I liked more after playing just a few days of WoW.

I'm not going to deny that WoW isn't as "hardcore" as Lineage, but to write it off as a social sim is nonsense. Bushman is incapable of speaking in anything other than extremes and speculation...that real misleading.

Good luck in WoW, and I hope yuh come and join us on Agrammar with the Horde. We'll fix yuh up with gold and advice and make the elevation nice and smooth.

Bushman u really smokin sumptin or yuh playin a lil too much lineage
yuh taklkin a set ah crap acalling a set a figures and yuh not saying a word
the majoriy of income comes from recurring players.
Lemme tell yuh why
when a new player buys a game he get material gain at the cost of the company
cds ,content and a free month on the servers
an exsisting player gets nothing he continually pays on a game thet he as bought mnths ago so herer is the deal at no expense to the parent company.
if the game is such a carebare game and all the "so called hardcore gameres come for 1 month and leave"
y is there an ever incerasing amount of players so many thet we are still adding servers
ohh and by the way that link u had up showing a waiting que
thats not so rare is it now
i can remember
NET CONGESTION or as we dubbed it "NETCONG"
and pressin the accept butoon for minutes on end hoping i get on
so Bushman face it u may call L2 a hardcore game i dont even call it a game i call it a TASK and i do my tasks at work when i play a game i wann ahave fun
not grind my life away.

imagine
STANDING IN LINE for 1 hr TO KILL A MONSTER
of all the crap i have seen that is the worse
imagine people farming in areas and another player comes there to get his share or just passin through  he gets attacked man L2 has so many flaws its deplorable but it suits a certain kind of person.
U pay money to get a bot to play for u while u are away and u call that fun stuepssssssssssssssssssssssss Bushman allyuh gone through oui and wanna come and talk statistics it ent have no statistics L2 could talk with wow. WOW is simply a better game what u all call carebear is just an excuse yall have for saying the game is user friendly and fun and thast why we play games for fun.
OHH adn maybe u can cap in a mnth but that ent sayin nuttin because at the cap it have reall ting yuh still hadda do so them so called fellers that say they cap in a month and had nuttin to do ask them how much EPIC ITEMS THEY HAD when they left im suer theyll say none

Ill just put my 2 cents on the whole thing.

I thnk both sides have valid points with some needing to be taken with a pinch of salt.

What I gather from WoW is that its a really good game desinged for a different type of player.  You work your time around it but you can more or less keep pace with the competition. A power gamer is a power gamer anywhere and in a system liek WoW its easy to get to maxx levels etc etc.

The designers spent some time and made a game which was basically complete from the get go. This  I believe I am mostly sure about form the time they spent developing it in betas and  the company that made it -bliszzard- has a good reputation for top quality games.

Lineage 2 is a developing game, most of what was experienced  in teh first 2 months were hardly what the game has become now and CONTINUES to become.

I see Kayode, Strongy and Mengsk Play wow, they ask me allthe time to play it, I have played in teh beta of WoW, I like it a lot actually. Its a good game.

Why then do I go back to Lineage 2?
The graphics, the people that play it, the politics, the clan system.

Is leveling hard in L2 means killing mobs over and over? Yes. When people get bored of that there many things to do in the game, we have raid bosses people go chaotic and fight others you lose experience but killing mobs get you experience and skill points which you use on skills.
To further level your character.

Lineage is not meanmt to be played solo its designed  to encourage a lot of social play. For one to truly reap teh befeits you need to organise a guild, get your varied units and  help each other reap teh rewards of hunting, getting money and gear there are a lot of unexplored things in lineage 2.

Many peopel stil are not very high in teh game and thats because  members have been spending time develpoping clans, getting friends leveld up, engaging in wars  and it goes on.

I think people should stop knocking the other game for  a lot of wrong reasons.

I will give wow its credit, its a great game. However Im good with lineage 2 for the time being.

Take a look here for some indepth info for Chronicle 3 hichis our next free update. and starts to kick off the MAIN story line for Lineage2.

Gamers swarm Chinese WoW beta test
100,000 register for World of Warcraft's Chinese beta test in first hour; testers get access in two weeks.

After breaking records in North America and Europe, World of Warcraft is storming China--and it isn't even available yet. According to the Chinese game-industry newsletter Pacific Epoch, in the first hour that registration was open, 100,000 gamers signed up for accounts hoping to participate in the game's closed beta test. Beta testing is slated to begin in about two weeks, according to the game's local operator in China, the9.com.

This is the WoW section for Upcoming Content.

I doh really appreciate the misinformation Bushman spreading about WoW being "complete".

It's much more complete than L2 was when it launched last year, but there are still a ton of things to look forward to.

WoW also has a thriving social system, and it's impossible to level in the later stages without groups. It's impossible to beat instances from lvl 15+ without groups.

And WoW doesn't only have extra stuff to do...it has fun diversions that don't even require combat. And these things can seriously enhance your character and playing experience.

And one last thing about this "care bear" and "old people" nonsense.

Not that I too proud :P , but Mengsk and I regularly play 8 hour WoW days. Since school and work started playtime has dropped to about 2 hours on a regular night...sometimes no play at all.
But on weekends and during holidays we play WoW just as hardcore as any L2 player. To write off someone as a "care bear" because they have a job or school, or BOTH, is real ole talk.

kayode i agree with you. you refuse to see that. all im saying is its. not really a mmpog its more or a social game for more laidback people. thats why it will never have such a huge market share. the market  or gamers consist of 12 to 25 year olds. which wow will be wy too easy  for them.  like shizz said yea its a better game than most have ever made, 1million times better than eq and eq2 [ now if ya wanna argue about crap game o lord eq2 is balls] so you cannot really compare.

and you dont  say someone is a carebear because of their hours. i know some men have normal jbs and school and child. and is more hardcore than me.  carebear comes about with the game play.  no penality carebear . eveyr features that makes the game too easy is basically carebear options.  ive seen alot more features in mmpogs and differe mmpos than most people  on this side of the world will ever have time too. and like i was doing above, i was stating above is mostly from experience.

That is nonsense. It's an MMORPG. It has all the makings of an MMORPG and more.

WoW is questing, fighting, crafting, exploration, trade and PvP in a persistent world. That is an MMORPG.

WoW has hardcore players as well as casual players. You feeding into too much extremes.

Just because the casual player can have fun with it doesn't mean that the hardcore can't.

It caters to both. Not just one.

Quote
thats why it will never have such a huge market share.

Where you bought yuh crystal ball? In 3 months, without a Chinese launch, it already has 15% of the market according to that chart. So doh make predictions that defy the present signs.

Quote

18-34 year olds are the largest PC game market. Particularly for MMORPGs which require credit cards and constant income.

This is common knowledge...I doh know where you get this young teenage ole talk.

You talking in circles brother.

And "easy" is relative. If you want a game that is "work" and make money from, you big up.

I want a game to play and have fun...yuh know nah...like a videogame is supposed to be.

Lineage sceneario 1.

I wake up and I for some reason want to fight. I take astroll out the main town and I see some people from a clan I dont like. I am a fighter, with honed skills for killing and battle. I check my supplies  and take a shot. BAM! one is down I star running  to get  some space between me and hsi friends.

My name, is nwo red, I have Karma. This means I have become  chaotic. When this happens a number of things comes into play. Killing me  will make me drop items, gear or anything in my inventory up to 5 pieces. It is a real consequence of blatantly attacking someone without them flagging (hitting me back before they die).

Knowing this its now either I kill them to defend my chaotic state, log off (lol) and  come back later when I have friends to protect me or simply out run them.

Its exciting and scary to go chaotic and Many people take that risk in Lineage 2.

Me atop my strider ( yes I am playing a female dwarf)

That's cool. WoW doesn't have the risk of losing weapons, though.

I can see how that can be excitement for some people.

In fact, it could even be okay in WoW, since it doesn't take anywhere as long to get good equipment as in L2. But its absence doesn't bother me too much.

I will give you a different scenario in WoW to show you how the PvP system works.

 - Once you're questing in a contested area on a PvP server (most areas over lvl 20), you'll constantly be fighting around members of the other side. Anyone can decide to wok anyone at any time.

 - Even if you're on a PvE server, you can attack opposing NPCs (guards, gurus, merchants) at anytime, which not only flags you for PvP and makes your name red...it also alerts every opposing faction member in the area that someone is attacking their citizens.

So as a Tauren I might kill an Alliance merchant in the forest for kicks or for loot. Within minutes, I can expect to see a dozen Alliance members swarming to see wtf is going on.

That can really put yuh in "running man" mode, and it's plenty fun.

 - Finally, you can raid villages and cities of the opposing faction at any time. You can do it yourself and dead, or you can do it with a group and totally dominate the village for a while. Kill all guards, merchants, questgivers, and the windrider master, leaving opposing players with no quick getaway and making the city a wasteland.

And it's not only fun to attack...it's fun to defend your village or city. The standoffs and battles can literally last for hours, with the lowbies inside watching from rooftops and the high-level players duking it out outside the village.
