iPod Shuffle and Mac mini
« on: January 15, 2005, 05:41:04 PM »
I won't put any links here since they're easy enough to find but for anyone whose seen the new iPod and Mac Mini, whaddya think?

For me they're both mixed. iPod shuffle: more affordable, long battery life, apple style, yet no interface. Mac mini: a mac that a regular human being can actually afford, yet upgrades are expensive and no peripherals. Despite all that, the industry see happyhappyjoyjoy over it, as most of the world seems to be obssessed with the iPod.

i took a look at the ipod shuffle
its a nice concept
and its good for someone who just wants to capability to listen to music when they want
unlike the normal ipod which is for ppl who are totally involved in music
and keep all the songs which they have on there ipod
ipod shuffle comes in 512mb or 1gb packages
and is about US$99

i rather buy the normal ipod though
a 40gb
thats 10 000 songs

i can fill that :P

DONT HATE THE PLAYER
HATE THE GAME!!!

Yes the imini is UTTER crap at default specs.

The truth is realised when you attempt to upgrade to something actually usable; The exorbitant cost.

I can see alot of ppl here don't use, never have or just generally don't like macs... I wish I still had the link comparing the new mac mini to a shuttle of comparable specs and how the shuttle ended up being @$700 ($200 more than the mac) but anyways if I find it I will add it to this post.

I think the shuffle is an ok idea in the sense of having a cheaper ipod for ppl to use (a flash based player at that) and the mini is a good entry as well as now you can choose NOT to buy apple accesories aka LCD (which are excellent but prohibitively expensive). You can use just about any USB mouse and keyboard in it and you can put it just about anywhere as its smaller than a shuttle. So to all those that don't like it, well thats ur opinion and ur entitled to it, however don't slam the product cause ur not a fan of the brand (aka Synth, you usually give at least some good reasons when slamming a product, why not give some here? since u claim its utter crap).

I think that its a good product cause it will do everything u need it to do(everyday user, surfing, play a few games, office apps etc), and has the benifit of OS X (which is better than w1ndows ANY DAY). Also it was not intended as an upgradable product save in RAM or MAYBE and I stress MAYBE a bigger HD. Apple has NEVER, and I mean NEVER been known for giving u too many options as they are use proprietry set of technologies and the market share is not theirs, so they make excellent products that serve their niche market, and still can attrack the everyday user with products that are easy to use and no hassles. NO BLUE SCREEN of DEATH HERE!!!

Yuh know, way back when Baego and all of dem reffered to me as d mac man. So, I think I should add my piece around here. The mac mini really puts its emphasis on mini. So, I think performance would have to be sacrificed in odrer to achieve the mini stature. I for one think the mini mac or mac mini is good for those who move frequently. As for the iPod mini, I think it's a kool idea if you're new into the world of MP3 palyers. If you're a pro, then by all means stick to the regular iPod.
