Okay....from what I've noticed, Zan's has closed it's doors to dueling, so I need to know....where are the Arima Duelists congregating now?

and oh yeah your parents real lame!!!!!!
If ever you have children you will realise how STUPID that statement is!!  Even when said in jest!!

From what I can tell kiya..your parents love you, care what happens to you and have a crucial part to play in your overall development!!  Which is more than can be said for some parents out there!

hahahaah anyone parents who thinks video games are stupid live in a cave and minds are to use the cliche "thinking in a box"! I know alot of people who grow up on video games and are still very smart including my self. I do everything. Well for the girl part thats understandable they probably totally overprotective no problem.

And computerman i play games right through on weekends and fridays that is no games on school days. And my parents endorse games and it dosent jeopardise my studies nor my sports! It's a matter of where u live how old your parents are and their outlook on life.

And what gives you the right to judge?  Why not do somthing usefull and inform the "In Box Thinkers" of the benefits...but you have to be fair so include some disadvantages as well.

In this day and age they are not being overprotective....just protective!

It's very good that you can balance school and play.  Not everyone can without constant guidance.

It's a matter of where u live how old your parents are and their outlook on life.
LOL...hoss my father (deceased) was born in 1924...and I've been playing electronic games since I was 5 years old....so how age get into this thing? LOL

I think it all depends on how the parent percieves the child to be. If they believe that the child can develop normally, even with allowing gaming etc, then they will allow it. If they believe that such activities will distract the child from what they think to be important (studies etc.), then they will tend to discourage it.

Also it depends on the child as well, whether they can show any level of self control in knowing how to balance those aspects of their life, cuz I have seen many cases where parents just let the children play games, and ALL those kids want to do then is game, and many of them have grown up to become those same ppl you see liming in the arcades all day, no job, no sense of purpose in life, all they want to do is play games. So you can't completely blame them for that, the most you can do is try to get them to see that if they want to do other activities, their main focus (education etc) would have to come first, and ensure that it's done before you move on to your optional activities.

Justin, do you think your parents would be so supportive of you, if your main focus was to game? Of course not! I am sure that you have to finish your studies first, and then you can do your gaming etc. Knowing how to balance your priorities, that's the key.

With that said Kiya, the best thing I think you can do, is to hold off from looking to duel, until your exams are over, but make sure your parents promise that you will be allowed to duel after your exams are over. In the meantime, to get some practice, I recommend getting Yu-Gi-Oh Virtual Desktop (YVD), to practice dueling over the Internet with players all around the world. That way, you still have time to fine-tune your strategy, as well as experiment with other cards, to see how your deck can run, before you get the actual card(s) for your deck.

...jeez I sound really old in this post, like I'm a parent.... :(

all this bullshit. I don't believe that it's a matter of parents loving you and that rest of shit. If you do your studies and your parents see you doing your best they will give you the freedom that you desire. The fact of the matter is that it all comes down to you. If kiya wants to be more involved in the game he would, trust me. I support Justin in this one. Some parents are overprotective. You have to demand your freedom, not in a rude way, but by doing what your parents expect of you. Show that you're responsible hoss and you'll see how quick you'll get to wander the worlds of yugioh so i can take your soul, again, lol. but is all love laters.

i think that when it comes to video games parents are much more accepting than when it comes to sumn like yugioh, because i mean real ppl is play video games, from light gaming to heavy gamers like some out there, ppl just are less critical of it due to its widespread popularity. This however shows just how hypocritical some ppl are, because the same ppl who pick up gaming as a form of recreation, let them pick up a deck and all of a sudden it becomes a "waste of money" and "childish". well, as far as waste of money goes, put it this way, u get 100 times more 'replay value' off a deck than a game, and the childish business, why is it childish, cus is a card game? well then what about all 4s? I think to a large extent its due to widespread popularity of the game. Because if yugioh used to be like in d anime, as far as recognition goes, parents would not bend over it. but i guess its also a matter of what the parent thinks is best for his/her child, and if u dont like their decision the worst thing to do is go against them cus then is less trust they have in you for other more important things.

ps: justin callin the girls peeps lame for that is just messed up aite, i virtually have 2 children, cus my dad died 2 yrs ago, so i look out for them like they were my children, and if u think u in your 15 yr old mind could possibly comprehend what it is to look out for somebodies best interests when u think what they doing is wrong then u seriously mistaken. lame has nothing to do with it, just remember that u as a parent want the best for your child, so dont call ppl peeps lame and shit over that.

pps: i live in gulf view kiya( along with chris) and a set of the south duelists meet up in gulf vviewon the weekends, so if you wanted to see what its like to play with a lot of ppl we could have arranged for u to pass(maybe with ur peeps) and u could all see what its like, cus we play outside chiris' house and his parents is be thre so u gonna be safe if is safety u concerned about.

ppps: who edit my post to say players?

Congrats on getting the 1 in English, kiya.
However, the 3's in the other subjects means that you've got to try a bit harder in your studies, though. No biggie, though. Just keep working hard, and you should be fine. What truly matters right now is your upcoming CXC exams....make sure, above all else, you pass those subjects. You'll thank me for that piece of advice later on, trust me.

Anyhoo, people, this topic has gone off track.
Back on topic now.....has anybody found a new hideout for this cowboy to duel?
I swear, my cards are getting so old, they're already gumming applesauce.
