Dread. is for an older machine. Cannot take higher quality CPUs.
Anandtech says that the 1600 Duron will kick the brass out of anything named Celeron and is about as fast as the XP 1700.
http://www.anandtech.com/printarticle.html?i=1927 Like other Durons, it runs at its stated clockspeed: i.e. 1600 mhz. But it's for an old KT133A board. So I'll end up doing some CPU swapping and using the Athlon 1600 (the board can take it). I'll use the Duron elsewhere.
It so ridiculous. Cheap CPUs nowadays running anything you want to pelt at them, given decent enough hardware... Even flight sims. Good for fraggers. Not so good for chipmakers. Hence the move to 64 bits. It's survival idmc.
