lol, I felt a disturbance in the force

Awesome and Messiaah come out swinging yes.

Messiah...if a technical authority like you.....arguably one of the greatest tech minds GATT has ever seen, can GIVE UP on battlefield due to technical issues....what you leave for the rest of our gamers?

Honestly???

You just made my case for me. Complete.

I watch the origin icon cuteye now....insta-butt hurt feelings. Jaded. My technical background is nothing to slouch at either. Crash after crash beat me into submission.

Won't be touching it much again till my green card arrives yes.

Cannot in good conscience take issue with Berserks friend for abandoning this platform. Really, I cannot.

hard lol @ the master race sub classes.

I don't think the PC Defaulter and Advanced Pleb have any real place being in the master race at all.

They should both fall under the casual category, alongside tablet and phone gamers.

Granted, that is a huge pool...but the master race should only consist of PC gamers who run at 1080p minimum with rigs scoring 5000 and up in 3dMark 2011 (yeah saxman, that mean's you're out!)

ROFL , hard luck Saxman,

@ Wyatt, I was just waiting!!!!!! For u to come with that response, whiles I was typing it, in my second mind I was saying "Wyatt coming to use this same 2 lines to refute my point" :laughing7:

But there is a bit more to it for me than just technical issues. I don't like cod-type games, never have. Cod 4 was good, and Bad Company 2 was good, but generally I dislike the genre because of the "who see who first dead" type of gameplay, and unfair competition due to leveling. So I was biased towards that type of games from before. So once I encounter said technical issues, it was easy for me to write it off.

If it was a game I was a fan off, id never give it up because of a few issues. Rage is one. Rage had issues on launch, with texture pop-ins etc. I spent the time to do d research to fix them and enjoy d hell out of my game. Tomb Raider is another, level crash with that game on sli, all kinda fix online, all kinda thing to disable. Only to find out just weekend, is my Overclock on the SLI was causing it. That game just didn't like my gpu OC for some reason. But with 3 680s is not like I need it, so just took it off and fine since.

A Game having issues (namely 1 game in berserk friend case) is not enough to get nobody running to console, unless they're an advance pleb like awesome pointed out.

PC gaming ain't perfect, we all know some games run flawless, others could have issues. But that's what the console was invented for. That don't mean the true pc master race going to be flocking to consoles. There are other advantages on PC that far outweigh the occasional issue a PC release mite have. Note, I din give up on B4 to go play it on consoles....... if I liked the game, is PC I would be playing it on. Period.

Good try but I stand by my point. A technical issue ultimately caused you to give up the game.

Look zerk and all having issues.

We deserve better...realy...we do. Is not  some indie game.

If battlefield is problem free on next gen the master race will find it hard to recruit

We don't need to recruit, and yes berserk having issues, but u not hearing him spouting ramblings of switching permanently to console. The pc crowd is doing just fine. Who cares what d cause i give up on b4 is, d point is, I ain't gone running to console because of it. And yes we deserve better, and console AINT! It.

If console is ur idea of better your an advance pleb yourself :)

Wyatt, I get way u coming from eh, and I understand, pc gaming is getting better and more stable, alot so, but gaming isn't without its flaws, Skyrim on ps3 was loaded with bugs and crashing and worked perfect on pc, would that mean abandon ur ps3 and go pc?

If that man gone running at d site of just one buggy game, he wasn't a real pc gamer as capt pointed out, he was just looking for an excuse to do what he wanted t do all along.

Consoles not immune to these issues, doh pin that squarely on pc head Atal.

And we could start up d usual back and fort console vs pc crap. But the sub category of the master race handle it nicely. Ain't fighting down this same argument again lolol.

If battlefield is problem free on next gen the master race will find it hard to recruit

As you can see above, I distinctly said "IF"

Fact remains that no platform is perfect, which means we would be "fass and out of place" to cry down anyone for their decision to move from any platform to another.

Case in point, zerk's friend moving from PC to console in search of less issues. Sure, he may find that the PS4 has its own problems....but I cannot blame him for trying cause the PC isn't a bed of roses.

It should be....it should be a bed of roses at this stage of the game (pun intended)

If I spend over US$2000 on a mc gaming machine and US$60 for a game and played a beta for a month. Yes, yes the final game should be in good working order. Full stop.

If I only spend US$399 for the machine and get a few issues, then it isn't half as painful tbh.

I agree with you, it should be a bed of roses, I think everybody wants that , everybody wants "better".
And nobody blaming him for his decision to go console, remember I said, consoles were created for a reason. It was created to give men choice and options, I as a pc aficionado will always find pc better, but consoles do have their purpose, just not amongst the master race. :)

All good fun either way, but I still defer you to capt's epic definition. Advance plebs :laughing7:
Nothing wrong with being a pleb, if man enjoying they self on what I consider to be an inferior platform, that's just fine.

I think for many it comes down to price. You have to agree, it is more expensive to build a decent gaming pc than console. Especially seeing that a console life cycle can go 5 years or more.

Arc that pc is beast.

You should also factor in the cost of a tvmonitor to go along with the console as well since that is part of the 'experience'.

Saying a PC is more costly is true, but it doesn't highlight the fact that a PC can do everything a console can AND more. Sure there are now browsers and social media apps for the consoles, but look how long it took them to do that.

In my case, the consoles don't even have the titles I want to play with the sole exception of kingdom hearts. Halo is the same thing over and over, different story line. That applies to both Gears off war and god of war. After playing FF13 I lost interest in the franchise. There's no interests for me on the consoles right now.  I do all my work on my PC and if I want to play a game, bring up steam/origin etc and it's right there.

To each his own.

minor quibble, a TV is no "additional cost" for the console gamer because his house already has one.

As for games being the same, that is true on all platforms. What we on CoD 11 or 12? I lost count. Battlefield 4 is really what? Battlefield 8 or 9? Let us not even mention Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat.

Personally, I don't mind it being the same. Will happily play Dota 2 and Battlefield for the next 10 years. Hell, I'd still play Quake 3 given half a chance (and a graphics upgrade)

Soccer is the most popular sport in the world,  22 men kicking a ball towards a goal over the course of 90 minutes. Never gets old. lol

You said it best...to each his own. Some of us can be quick to cast condescending looks upon others for choosing a platform different from ours. Each has its pros and cons. Some will merrily play Pokemon on a Nintendo DS (or via an emulator on their smartphone), while others haunch over a keyboard executing build orders in starcraft and yet others lounge in their living room with a playstation controller tapping out combos in Tekken.

They are all the same in my eyes, gamers.

Yes, but not every household has a TV capable of 1080p. Hence why I said it's a factor of the experience. It is a cost to those who don't have a TV with the capability.

Don't drag Battlefield into this 0_o. In my own personal, totally unbiased fanboy opinion (XD), BF has always been a new and better experience. I played BC2, BF3, and that alone sold me. COD on the other hand, is literally almost the same game every match in my experience. The dynamic in BF with vehicles and the leveloution is unmatched at this point in time and provides each game with such an unpredictable outcome. Of course, if you're up against a team that 50% is a clan of trinis, you are going to lose regardless ;)

Another reason I still play dota as well. Every game is different. That dynamic is what I look for in my games at this point in time.

Agreed.

So if you're in a household with a shitty tv, going for a next gen console and buying a 1080p LCD will probably set you back TT$8000.00

Buying a proper gaming PC and monitor would be about the same.

In which case, yes...the PC will be the better option. Hands down.

Personally, for me to go next gen as my primary gaming platform there will be another massive hurdle. Keyboard and mouse support. Playing Battlefield or Titanfall without those would be sacrilege.

Hoping Xim releases a device to take care of that hurdle, which would then be an additional cost (probably another US$100+)

Ok, I agree with part of what both virtue and Wyatt said:

This:

Quote
Saying a PC is more costly is true, but it doesn't highlight the fact that a PC can do everything a console can AND more. Sure there are now browsers and social media apps for the consoles, but look how long it took them to do that.

And:

Quote
Personally, for me to go next gen as my primary gaming platform there will be another massive hurdle. Keyboard and mouse support. Playing Battlefield or Titanfall without those would be sacrilege.

Those 2 things right there, along with all the other obvious benefits, like more power, upgradability, having the ability to be on the latest and greatest PC tech year after year. Mods, Tweaks, Hacks, etch etc etc. Is why ill always be PC first.

Yes a PC is more expensive, but u not buying a pc JUST to play games. The argument can be made that you may buy a PC for everything else a PC does, and if u want to play games, add a 200-300$ GPU in it, and that machine will be way more powerful than a console.

But like we all said, to each his own. The one thing console have that I wish PC had, is a unified online eco-system with same friends list and online code. PC have so much choice and freedom we may never get that, because it have steam, gfwl, origin, then apart from the 3 major ones, it have different pc games with their own system. StarCraft for example. Borderlands 2. etc etch etc. If MS brings XBL to Windows, that may change. Time will tell.
