One big reason Windows Phone phablets make more sense than Android ones

Adam Doud sure doesn’t like the idea of a Windows Phone phablet.

Pocketnow’s newest editor is, if nothing else, consistent. He’s denounced the concept of a Nokia-made smartphone/tablet hybrid more than once, with his latest anti-phablet proclamation coming on the heels of today’s unveiling of the new Lumia 1520.

Adam’s arguments are quite valid. His insistence that modern Windows Phone software can’t effectively utilize the added screen real estate of a phablet is understandable, even if the problem isn’t confined to Microsoft’s OS (we recently took the Android-based HTC One max to task for the same shortcoming). And his desire for greater one-handed usability is definitely something I can get behind. We can’t all have hands like Taylor Martin or Marques Brownlee, after all.

But I disagree with Adam. That doesn’t mean I’m going to call him a “fanboy,” “bias(ed),” or any of the five or six other tired old pejoratives lying around in the Troll’s Toolbox. Instead, I want to quickly call attention to a point that I think deserves to be made about Windows Phone phablets: to me, they make more sense than their Android counterparts...

Can u elaborate? Because yes it is huge, and as much as I'm getting one, there is still that lingering doubt that it mite be toooo big.

Definitely....there are some challenges with a phone of that size.

Particularly with docks and cases taking it from passable to OMFGWTMC!!!!

I used my Note 2 without a case initially...and with that native form factor...it is absolutely fine.

However, after smashing the screen into tiny bits...I now use a case....and that case makes it unwieldy.

So looking forward to returning to a smaller form factor, so that with a case...it is still passable.

Not worried bout docks cuase I don't use them, all QI enabled, so nothing to jack in, just rest.

As far as case, boxwave stuff is pretty slim and I never had issues with them, but something to consider.

I can say 1 thing, ill never use a phone without a case lololol. And because of that firm believe, I've never physically broken a phone, and all my phones sell in mint condition.

So that 1520 definitely hada get cased. Hoping to get one like these for it:

Using that on 920 now, coming from a traditional TPU, and it feels a lot slimmer and sleeker in the hand, and I always use waist holsters, so that kill 2 birds with 1 stone. How a 1520 going to look on my waist is another concern. lolol.

But that majority of the time, my phone on my desk ontop ah QI charger, or in meh QI Car Kit. Guess I go find out soon enough. lol. thanks for the feedback though. if it comes down to case to make it manageable, don't mind spending ah few dollars trying to find the right case.

yeah...about that....I wouldn't be caught dead with a note 2 visibly clipped to my waist.

Even at the naked form factor.

I used to run with it in an arm band and that invited picong galore. It looks absolutely ridiculous.

Luckily, the very discreet SPI Belt saved the day. It is small and elastic, so it stretches just big enough to fit the note 2 and keep it hidden around your waist. Under your clothes.

That way you can run/bike and track your fitness with cool android apps like Endomondo minus the heckling of passerbys gawking at a "laptop" strapped to your arm. lol

That gets old....fast.

I cud imagine loll, but i don't plan to go running with it, more for pop in in and out to various clients when in on d move.

When traveling through airports, I take my holster and clip it on d inside of my pocket, when on d move locally, I hit it on the waist for quicker access.

Nokia Lumia 1520′s Display Crushes The Competition In Sunlight Reading Capabilities



Nokia Lumia 1520 will feature 6-inch, Full HD (1920 x 1080) ClearBlack IPS LCD display. Microsoft also said Nokia is doing phenomenally well in Latin America and the Caribbean. I didn't get a chance to grab the screenshot of the numbers in the presentation.

But after seeing the units in action, I'm not surprised.

Hard push into the developing markets.

That was a strategy that worked well for BlackBerry.

Well, out of the 90%wp market share owned by Nokia, 25% belongs to the 100$ lima 520.

That low end phone making waves, and why it selling so?

Because it runs not circles, but polygons around similarly priced android handset.
A 100$ phone running smoother than a nexus 5, running wp8 with all yUh apps........... gg no re in low end.
And now they also have the 1320, which is a 6" budget phone. Nokia push in low end rely hard, and will bolster they market share, allowing for more apps, better ecosystem and a stronger play in high end.

That's what you guys say about every version of android, wp has yet to be beat in that department.

Also, gunta android tend to not get the latest updates, unlike the 520 which going to be running the same version of the OS that's going to be released on the 1520.....

Its some people that see lag where there is none, like that retard that did a hands on n5 and noted lag. Personally I have had zero lag on my N4 since I got it. I dont get mad, I just nod and say "sure, whatever you say bro".

Now that the high end is sorted, Google focussing on low end to bring the same level of polish and smoothness to the very lucrative low end market and is the same niceness for everyone.
