Proposed Project: Cyril Ross Home gaming day
« on: July 21, 2013, 05:07:30 PM »

In case you all did not know, I am in a Wagon club named the "Y Wagon Club"

In a meeting we discussed having a Gaming night at the Cyril Ross home

Now the Cyril Ross Home is a home or orphaned kids who live with HIV.

I recently learned that the home was refurbished and their TV room got a n upgrade with a big flat TV (size to confirm)

I have been delegated with arranging this event as we work with the kids every other month.
So I turn to you guys for ideas and assistance in pulling this off. The kids will definitely enjoy this.

I'd like this to happen before the end of the year as it been toyed with since last year. I'm looking at loaners of consoles, games, controllers, and maybe an extra TV.

Consider it a GATT/Y Wagon Club collaboration

Discuss.

Why just a day? Lame

Let us organise a donation of a gaming system and a few kid friendly games.

A wii would be appropriate.

If you can do it (cause is a bonus as far as I'm concerned), sounds good.

I'd like to meet up with you to discuss further

Great news people.

Three of our sponsors have agreed to pitch in $2100 to acquire a Wii, some controllers and a couple games for the Cyril Ross home.

Laptop City
Gamez Plus Movietowne
and
Cariszone.com

We need $400 more to complete the donation.

Anyone willing to assist can post here or send a pm if you prefer.

I am working on my end to see if TCM (who already sponsors transportation for the kids on outings) can donate the rest.

As for the actual game day. I am looking at sometime in August. Saturday 17th or 24th. Date to be confirmed.

Update:

Game day is set for Saturday 24th August from 2pm to 8pm

Still awaiting word from TCM on their contribution

The TV Room is air conditioned and about 7 yards wide by 11 yards long. There is already a 32 inch TV at teh front and there is a power outlet in the back as well.

The is a second area just outside the TV room that is  4 yards wide by 9 yards long, also with outlets.

My Idea is to have a Will, PlayStation and Xbox setup in  the two areas.
The Wii and XBox in the TV room (with chairs/couches in the middle) and the PS3 outside.

I'll need help to get loans of 3 surge strips, 3 tables, 2 TVs, consoles, 4 controls per console and games for the day.

I just realized the only thing I did not check on was the internet access, but that can be easily solved with a wireless router.

The home's TV has 2 HDMI ports and component outputs so that is a go there.

I have pictures of the room  and can be posted if necessary.
God is dead.

Ok so with less than a week to go I am still trying to extract information on who is doing what, so I will ask again:

Has the Donation Wii been purchased?

Who will supply the loaning of the following equipment for the day? (this post will be updated accordingly)

3 surge strips -
3 tables - Wyatt for 2 Tables
2 TVs - Wyatt
Consoles with required connections to TV (Xbox and or PS3 and or Wii) -
4 controls per console -
Batteries for controllers- Saxman
Games for the day (preferably 4 player) -
Wireless Router - Saxman

I want to start setting up from about noon, maybe 12:30pm
The only snag is that I have a lil expo to take part in in St. Augustine from 1 to 3pm, so i will have to disappear from about 12:45pm and return a lil after 3pm, but I am certain that GATT & the Y Wagon Club can handle thing in my brief absence.

One the kids start playing , is mostly to sit back and watch(and make sure everyone get a fair turn to play)

Nice update Sax.

I can confirm that the Wii has been ordered. As well as an extra controller.

We can discuss more at the meeting tonight to try and firm up the other items with the rest of staff
