Evaluate your rig...
« on: July 20, 2013, 09:32:18 PM »
Someone asked me today: 'what would it cost to build a system like yours?' and I had to admit...I really didn't know.

So I set about poring over all my old Amazon invoices to see what I paid for each and every part in use in my current rig,
and what I eventually discovered shocked me.  Oh yes...nearly shocked my balls clean off.....

Of course this doesn't include the many thousands of dollars in shipping, VAT and Customs duties.  Adding that in might push it over 30K.   :ko:

Using the above format, I'd like an idea from other members as to the current value of their complete rig...the whole shebang.  Monitor, speakers and all.

... my rig not worthy for here yet.

It's not about that.
I'm trying to get a handle on ballpark-figures to make it easy to recommend a budget for gaming-grade components.  It might even help people who have no clue about pricing.

i really dont want to do this.... :(

I especially want to see what those 'ubermensch' PCs cost to put together.  :)...in cold, hard TT dollars.

Oblige mih nah.  :)

hahhaa @ chiney

Epic thread Arc.

The wonderful complexities of being a PC gamer.

Since the question is how much it costs to build a rig like ours, present tense...here are the current pricing for my components.

Asus 26" Monitor: US$250
Logitech MX 500: US$50
Logitech Deluxe Plus Keyboard: $20
Intel Core i7-2600K : $325
16GB DDR3 Memory: $130
ATI 6970: $190
Imitation Alienware case: $45
Gigabyte Z68 Motherboard: $190
Crucial M4 256GB SSD: $210
Seagate 2 Terrabyte HD: $100
Steel Series Mouse Pad: $10

Grand Total of US$1420 + SHVD (Shipping Handling Vat and Duty)

Say about $11,000 all costs considered.

Using the old formula of 10 to 1, my rig would sell for about $14,200 after cost + markup in a typical mom and pop PC shop.

Scary. Very scary.

... my rig not worthy for here yet.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 | Omega v16 | SwiftKey | Tapatalk 4 Beta
