They used that same approach with the PS3 (as did Microsoft with the Xbox 360)

I see no harm in it. Allows a better price point.

Highly doubt the hard core PS3/PS4 gamers are going to lose sleep over the PS Eye adoption rates, lol

Love the price being low but I'd rather not have sony crash and burn financially and end up being another Atari/Sega/THQ/NeoGeo/etc...

I dont see this happening by a long shot...quoting from the article you posted here...

They didnt say heavy losses....plus they do say lower down

So yeah...what I think the article is implying is that they're gonna make money...just not as much as they hoped but they'll still be in the green. Might have to put off buying that new Gold Plated Hotel in Saudi Arabia for a couple months...

For the last few years, the only arm of Sony business they made a profit on is ....wait for it....insurance.....all other divisions, including consumer electronics division, and their playstation division has been suffering losses for years.

Sony is in trouble, big trouble, has been since way before ps4.
Lets just hope they actually turn a profit this time around, because relying on insurance to stay afloat very disturbing for a tech company.

MS may be gay, but they know how to make profit.
And Nintendo have enough bank to do shit for a few more years well and still.be fine (they have 5 billion in cash, not counting assets which is worth another 10 billion in surplus)

Poor Sony.

Yeah, that is the thing. Sony hanging on by a thread and not being wildly profitable on the PS4 is not going to help.

They need to do way better than breaking even or posting a 10% margin.

The big feather in their cap this time around is that they will be charging for online play, just like Microsoft did all these years.

That could turn the situation if they can't profit from the hardware sales (which I expect they won't)
