Recommend me a Skybox service provider
« on: December 08, 2012, 09:41:25 AM »
^as topic stated I'm having the worst experience with my current provider ever since they started to get more customers. Shipwebsouce is the name of the current provider i am with, while they have no renewal fees and its free delivery their customer service/organization skills are horrendous

So what I'm looking for is a shipping company that is professional/good customer service. Organized delivery is a plus

Ezone...

Prices may be a little higher than the competition, but if you order something from Amazon on a Monday, you could get it on Friday.

.....and I've never had any hair-pulling customer service issues with them.

Check www.getezone.com for more details.

I use transexpress I think they're affiliated with Trincargo, have had no problems with them and delivery is prompt, extremely friendly

I've been using CSF Couriers for the last year. Average time has been 1 week for amazon orders.

Second the ezone endorsement. Have yet to be disappointed after three years and maybe a couple hundred orders.

I'm with aeropost, they charge by weight not volume (another important consideration) have a pre-alert system, duties and vat charged on your declared value with the option to upload an e-invoice. Have not had a problem with them in 8 years. Can't speak about delivery, I've collected my packages for the past 5 years ago as their offices are on my way to work, and they open on Saturday mornings.

Once something enters the country and passes through customs it is subject to vat and duty, given that the item is subject to same of course.

If somehow you are exempt from paying either when you are supposed to then you either have been very lucky thus far or that skybox on real racket. Either way, enjoy it while it lasts cuz it won't last long.

Oh yeah phoenix I suggest you take a look at this page on CSF site clearly outlining vat and duty tariffs on items. Pretty sure you are mistaken about the no duty and vat thing...

I think what he means is they include your shipping costs before applying the VAT and Duty for items where that might apply.

Phoenix, could you explain? Maybe show an invoice (blot out the sensitive info)

Trinebox is a long time sponsor of GATT and they offer a very decent service.

This thread reminds me, need to complete that review of shippers on the island.

^^ or ok I understand, that's probably what he meant.

Most skyboxes really do that? That's downright low, man.

yes wyatt you are correct... most skyboxes add THEIR freight and then we get charge duties/tax on that.... so if you order an item for 100TTD that has a weight of 25lbs and shipping cost of 500TTD you will be paying duties on 600TTD!!!

however with csf, you pay duties on 100TTD... which is only fair as thats what you actually paid for the item... after the duties and tax on the invoice.. then freight is added for pickup/delivery to your door. (you wont see it on the invoice though... everybody invoice looks the same more or less.. is the background process) what you can do.. is use the online calculator of your fave skybox company and play around with the weight of ur items... watch those duties rise.. and watch it stay put with csf

now i dont know if something wrong with that (as far as legality goes) but it certainly works out a cheaper... and csf service is excellent so win win all around...

they have annual membership fee, but thats negligible when you include the savings

I know trinebox doesn't apply the duty and vat on your freight either. Can't speak for the others.

Who do you know that actually charges in this way Phoenix?

That is wickedness!

This is true for Aeropost. I put together some random numbers as an example.

Duty is charged on CIF value of the package. This is basically:

Duty is then added to the CIF value and VAT charged on this total cost.

This is how Aeropost calculates their shipping costs. Customs do fairly often not charge VAT or duties on some items (especially computer components and electronics) that they should have but the Aeropost estimate is usually accurate within $1-3 USD of the figures I see on my invoice.

As with CSF you only pay duties and taxes on your item excluding the skybox shipping cost with transexpress, also the home delivery takes 3 days from the time they receive it in the us but you can pick up directly at their office a day early.

Essentially this means if you purchase with one day shipping and pick up at the HO you can get your package in 3 days, not guaranteed but very possible as I have done this many times

I've been with Aeropost for a few years and haven't had any real trouble with them, they even shipped back my faulty 670 GTX card and then PAID me money (note I said paid me, I didn't pay a cent) for having to ship it back to amazon.

I dunno who else skybox does that!! That has me standing firm with them and of course I'm in Tobago so it takes a couple days longer to get my package but their service is great.

You have options but be mindful who you go with as they have different rules on particular types of items. If for some reason you want to bring down perfumes and creams etc. Aeropost is not for you as I had to find out the hard way. Seems like homeland security has to check your stuff etc. in Florida before it leaves, might have to do with the drug trade :/
