I dont want any scrappers renaming or moving my files.
And xbmc supports native trailers.
And i tell xbmc what quality of trailer i want, 480p, 720p etc.

and it just automatically finds d trailers for me.
And i can select different fanart and posters as well

Question, when that program u use scrapes, where does it put the data? And how does xbmc read said data to display it.

Also, when you get new movies, do u have to re-run said program and scrape?

I have xbmc set to auto scan on start.
So my process for new movies is, Rename, Put in my movies folder, done.

Next time i start xbmc, it finds info etc in d background, dont have to do anything but name d file and drop it in d folder.

Ember doesn't rename your file (although I think there's an option to do that too), it only separates them individual folders if you choose the option to. All data the program scrapes is placed in the folder with the video. Movie info like plot, cast, metadata, etc are all added to an nfo file with extrathumbs placed in its own folder too.

And yes, as the program doesn't run in the background, you'd have to re-run the program and re-scan. but that's only 3 more click (double click to open the program and one on the scrap button lol).

I dunno, I think the fact that I spend so much time getting my media collection just the way I want it that the thought of having numerous films scanned automatically scares me.

XBMC has its own library for meta data.

That's great if you're using one HTPC in the house.

Not so great if you have several clients.

As is, I run XBMC on my laptop, my desktop and the HTPC.

So that's three libraries to maintain.

That's the reason I used Ember in the first place.

Using Ember, you could maintain from one central location and never update the individual libraries.

Just became more trouble than it was worth over time but no denying how awesome an app it was. Think it may have been Rage self who told me about it.

On another note, the feature I love most on XMBC is....drum roll......subtitles

Its the very first thing that gets enabled after an install.

So acclimatized to it now that watching a movie without subtitles feels weird.

Similarly to ember, I used an app called Sublight that would maintain subtitles for your entire media collection.

Automatically downloading the language of your choice across all the movies and TV series stored in your library.

Also like Ember, I stopped using it because the built in subtitle download feature in XBMC is good enough. Only takes a few seconds to download the subtitle of your choice on the fly.

I fully agree with that one. The built in subtitle downloader is more than enough for me too.

I does actually press "T" everytime a movie start and i see subtitles lol.

So does xbmc then read the nfo to get the infomration for the movie? when using ebmer?

Yup. It reads it and adds the info to the library. The process takes a second or so per movie.

Yeah that's a big plus. I for one intent to do a fresh install of XBMC when Frodo final comes out. Everything's already there, so re-scanning won't be an issue.

I don't think you used enough "very"s in that statement boy messiaah.

+1

Excellent find.

Once you don't plan to do any hard core gaming on your HPTC, this is an unbeatable option!

I can see this box coming under fire from the SteamBox very soon though. Expecting a flood of HTPC/Gaming devices to hit the living room in 2013

Wow... Looks like it supports every use-case I can think of save one: what if I want to stream my favorite news (Al Jazeera) right from their website?

If that device can do that, then I may very well consider buying one.

+1 Indeed

It's -almost- the same thing.   The link Messiaah posted is for the version that comes with XBMC installed as the OS.  The one you posted is the 'barebones' version that doesn't come with any optical drive, HDD/SSD, or RAM, hence the cheap price.

Yea, the official site has the barebones for 150$ , so obviously amazon price go be cheaper.

http://www.arctic.ac/en/p/living/entertainment-center/403/mc001-e.html

But for the extra money, u getting a fully speced , fully functional xbmc htpc ready to go with remote. Cyah go wrong for the price.

I was considering an apple tv for meh parents ah while now, apple tv and put xbmc on it. but the lack of HD audio support, amounts other things, make me hold off. But this box, is gg oui.

XBMC Is Getting a New Name – Introducing Kodi 14
« Reply #38 on: August 01, 2014, 04:08:11 PM »

Quote
We are excited to announce that the media center software we’ve all loved for so many years will have a new name, starting with version 14. Instead of XBMC 14, we’d like to introduce you to Kodi 14.

Since 2002, the software known as XBMC has gone through three namings. First, it was called Xbox Media Player. Upon realizing that it did a bit more than your traditional media player, in 2004 the development team elected to rename it Xbox Media Center. A mere 4 years later in 2008, the team once again elected to rename the software to simply XBMC, given that it had moved on from its original roots on the Xbox. Support for the Xbox was dropped shortly thereafter. Today it’s all happening one last time.

http://xbmc.org/introducing-kodi-14/

Been wondering why they didn't change the name a long time now.

Wow, from XBMC to Kodi

They really love being aligned with Microsoft. X Box Media Center (XBOX was Microsoft's gaming console) and now Kodi (Kodu is Microsoft's visual programming language made specifically for creating games)

Coincidence??

As for not changing the name before, I can understand why they didn't.

XBMC has fantastic brand equity as far as a media center goes.

It is the best of them all in my opinion and has gained traction and notoriety over the past decade.

Every single PC in the house runs XBMC.

It is understandable, the confusion the name presents to the uninitiated.

Still wishing that Microsoft and the XBMC team will one day release a version that could run on the xbox one.

Good looking out Rage. Kodi iwmc.
