I am selling a Samsung Galaxy Player 3.6, bought it new this month and only used it for about 20 minutes. It is working great and there are no scratches.

At the risk of insulting Android fans everywhere, it's like an Android version of an ipod touch. 

It'll do everything a regular Galaxy S phone will do...except make calls.

I could use this as my dedicated in-car GPS and in-car video recorder while driving.... all I'm missing is the windscreen mount...

So freaking tempting ...

(but nearly $5000 in necessary car repairs/maintenance, which includes insurance renewal, takes priority)

The Galaxy player 3.6 has a micro sd card slot so memory is easily expandable (up to 32 gigs).

Because the thing has a GPS built-in, and just install the appropriate software from Google Play (video recording software plus some way to cache the maps), that's how...

You can do tethering so this device can share your phone's internet connection.  It's the only way you'll get the 'real-time' updating to work,
but GPRS/EDGE is such a pain just to load a jpg on a website  , so good luck getting it to function like that...on the road.  You'll need 3G/4G for that.

Wouldn't it be better to get a dock for your phone?

Not like you'll need GPS service in the car when you aren't in it anyway.

Arc, I found the Google Map app absolutely indispensable as a navigation tool. Even on GPRS/EDGE.

Used it the other day going to Tacarigua, Chaguanas and San Fernando. It was spot on and updated pretty much every second.

No delay / lag.

Scarily accurate (within 5-10 metres) for what is basically a free service.

4G would be welcome all the same but more for the web browsing than for the GPS function.
