wasnt my iphone4. it was also using the gevey sim so i believe thats the problem.
digicel uses the 1900mhz band on the hsdpa service for their 4G... my phone does not have a 1900mhz hsdpa band. unfortunately.

another thing is.. ppl here mixing up the difference between 4g and hsdpa..

4g is the name of the tech.. hsdpa is the standard.

It's been about a week since the launch and I am sure alot of people went for the opportunity to join the network. So far speeds are still high

well from a newsletter
they catered for over 400k users at the minimum of 3mbits per user.

seems digicel came prepared from the get go.

they are providers in many different countries that have larger client bases and no complaints.

And this is only an island with a population of just under 1 meelion people. If islands like Jamaica are covered by the same 4G network and THEY don't complain, who are we?

I'm on an island with a population on about 50k , and when it now launch it was all smiles, a few months later it was all tears, and FYI ppl in Jamaica do complain. Here digicell was the only one with issues, bmobile was good. But since they activate number crossover between bmobile and digi, everything went to shit. But bmobile still better.

over here, if u using digicel 4g u can forget about making phone calls. Dropped calls up d Ying yang, and hitching and issues in hearing ppl and they hearing u. It happens to every owner of an HTC or iPhone device. D only device seems to be working good is the gs2.

Digicel claims its because HTC and Iphone 4s devices arent tested on their network, which is what lead them to beggin me to use a samsung gs2 in the first place.
I've been liaising with digicel to try and find a resolution for d issues, we're and I.T. company and they ask us to help them get to d bottom of it.

The GS2 seem to be working fine as they said it would, but..
I've noticed the gs2 using web.digicel.com as their apn, and that seems to be fine. But digicel say that apn dedicated for prepaid customers. Everyone else using ISP.digicelcayman.com and that just rank with issues. I tried d web.digicel.com apn on my HTC titan and d thing wok bess, but that is pay as u go and bill go be high. Digicel writeoff my bill for d past month of using web.dicicel.com becuase we helping them out. (and dey dont want us to switch to lime).

But d bottom line is, if u want unlimited 4g postpaid , you're screwed on digicel.

And after the number swapover change, whatever shit on digi network reach across to lime own and them start giving issues too. This can be related to a specific issues on digicel side, Or it can be related to d number of users on d unlimited APN on digicel side that bog down d whole network. But that kinda information only digicel has. And its been months and they still have not resolved d issues.

Again, this is a population of only 50k.
Knowing trini and how ppl going to hammer that network. In a few months time, it mite not be pretty at all.

Marketing statistics at its finest. If 400k people logged into their 4G network you would feel like you were driving to go see redbull flugtag all over again.

I've tested the Digicel's 4g using my sim in a Samsung Infuse, and i got speed about 8mbps to 12mbps while downloading videos from youtube and downloading random files from different sites. Also using wifi tethering, we got the same speeds on the pc. The speedtest program didn't do it justice really. I thought those were the default speeds, until i saw this thread, wish i took some screen shots, say wa. Knowing me, those packages aint enough, i'll need unlimited...
