Ah BOY!, Microsoft just made my day:

Quote
Dolby Digital is coming post launch. This was a SW scheduling issue pure and simple, and I know people are disappointed, but we will have it.

Anyone with an HDMI receiver should be fine, as we pass the uncompressed 5.1 and 7.1 through HDMI as well as DTS. Even if you have a Dolby only HDMI receiver (which I'm not sure exists), you will still get 5.1 or 7.1 sound since those receivers should accept uncompressed surround.

http://kotaku.com/xbox-ones-missing-audio-options-are-coming-microsoft-1469102130

GG no Re, Audiophile Features in we rass.

(And here I was already planning an elaborate convoluted solution to allow my TrueHD Audio from PC to make it to my Receiver :laughing7:, no need now.)

I'm not surprised, they said HDMI standby passthrough.

If they offered that feature in this day and age WITHOUT support for 5.1 they should be shot!

Because one of the epic selling points for an xbox right now is that it can totally replace the need for a reciever.

If you only have one console and your cable setup box. gg no re.

Never have to switch inputs or fiddle with buttons again. One device to rule them all.

Set your TV on HDMI 1 and forget it. All traffic coming through that port via the xbox. (even when it off)

PS...my son broke my kinect sensor stand.

how much for that new one?

$20 for the new one.

And ah don't think you understand why I excited. Doing 5.1 yea, that should be standard.
But that's the Xbox processing the audio. And based on previously released information, I though the Xbox going to be performing its own processing on all audio inputs.

For an audiophile that's very bad. Because I ain't spend $USD2000 on a receiver, only to have the Xbox One do the processing. But since it have uncompressed passthrough, that means straight from XBMC the signal reaching un-altered to my Receiver. Pure Audio Fidelity in we rass. No compression, no processing, no shenanigans, just take meh signal, and feed it to the DAC, GG no Re.

The only thing is to find out if the system will accept the drive or if it has to be prepared in some way first. But it  still is noteworthy

Armored Trucks Full of Xbox Ones Rolled Through New York City Today

Well, Microsoft's Xbox One Launch Event Sure Seems Interesting

Quote
I'm picturing some poor schmuck at Microsoft accounts getting a bill for the Xbox One's launch event in NYC tonight in a few months' time, looking at it, then jumping straight out a window.

The company is going to ridiculous lengths tonight, not only taking over Times Square but doing stuff like having zombies shamble all over the Brooklyn Bridge, fancy sports cars racing through Manhattan and giving out green beanies.

Some of team Kotaku will be heading down to check it out; expect more coverage from them through the night.

Edit: That last bit was a joke, just in case anyone takes it the wrong way. I love the xbox one (the working one I'm currently playing on, the broken one not so much) and won't be sulking off to the PS4 because of a launch day dud. Knowing my luck I'd get a dead PS4 too. Currently playing Battlefield 4 and it is beautiful. So far there have been about 3 reports of this failure so there is no need to blow this out of proportion yet. Happy gaming and I hope none of you have this issue.

Nice that he rates Battlefield on the platform. I am very very interested in the performance of that game on next gen hardware.

To be fair, I just checked and can't find any overwhelming number of incidents with these grinding optical drives. (something that happens on PCs as well....but not particularly common on this platform either)

Will continue to monitor.

pt im makin is ppl takin a very minor issue and exaggerating tryin to blow things out of proportion.
NO person with a functioning brain can expect a new mass produced product to NOT hav some faulty 1s

PS4 failure rate under 1% which is normal
1% of 1 mill? 10,000 and still 10k ps4s not dead
use yuh brain ppl
this is why ive been away from game forums for so long.....they tend to b toxic filled with negativity givin wrong impressions of the overall game/s because the ppl that enjoying their stuff usually dont come to forums

ah mean LOOK what grown men here arguin about an bashin.......how X console better than Y wen men dont even play console primarily they on PC

u seein d PS men or XB men goin at it? no aint nobody hav time for to sit an put down a console they dont use ppl too busy bein GAMERS and enjoying their platform of CHOICE

tl;dr console wars are dumb and piss me off cuz its just a bunch of back an forth ignorance IMO

That is a cop out.

In case you weren't paying attention there are many avid console gamers on forums the world over.

This one included.

I personally have learned more about both next gen consoles from reading the back and forth between advocates on GATT.

Removing your voice from the equation is a disservice to the members who would be interested in what you have to say.

Especially coming from the first staff member to own a PS4!

Better than that.

Ok, I reach. Firstly, rofl @ vice. Wyatt, d man getting vex the Xbox launch was better boy, that's just ranting, hopefully he'll get over it, :laughing7:

Vice.... if that's the way you feel about console wars, why u posting in the first place? You post yUh mind in PS4, yUh post yUh mind in Xbox One. BUt some how saying you too busy playing games and it stupid yet still you put aside your game to participate in the stupid discussion? (yawn)

Now to address alyuh allegations :laughing7:

Firstly, since yesterday evening I've been watching IGN live stream, gearing up for the midnight launch. Whiles doing that, I refresh my youtube subscriptions and my news reader for any relevant news and post accordingly. (I did the EXACT! Same thing for the PS4 launch) Having said that. At no point in time yesterday afternoon to 1am last night, did I see ANYYYYYYY negative news on the Xbox. Let alone those links. Them links comes form sites I never even heard of :laughing7: These are the sites I subscribe to in my newsreader, so if the news didn't come from them, I wouldn't even have seen it yesterday, and I can't exactly post links from the future either. Despite what you mite believe, I'm not ACTUALLY the Messiah :laughing7: (engaget, ign, gamespot, kotacku, joystick, wpcentral, wmpoweruser, slashgear, guru3d, pocketnow) mite be missing ah few from there. But if the "negative" news didn't come from one of those sites last night, I wouldn't even post it.

Next. Since I haven't even had time to buss ah fart for the morning until alyuh start :laughing7:, I ain't read no news yet. So I can't rebut anything alyuh post until then, so give me ah while. What I could responded to is the USB thing.

That USB thing totally understandable why MS will ban man. The USB thing went live like 11pm Wednesday night, and was pulled an hr later. My guess is, somebody accidentally published the site, and MS had it prepared as a backup incase what happen to Sony happen to them. So men who hot on d trigger, (ME INCLUDED :) ), download the USB flash files, and stash it one side. I did not post that information, because I was waiting on my download to finish to verify it, and by time I was going to post d link, it was pulled. So did not bother. So technically is not an MS sanctioned procedure yet. And if Live having no issues, why would you use the USB anyways? Bottom line is, there is no such site to go to to upgrade from USB key. So if you play hero and want to bypass XBL using a method that no longer sanctioned, then who u want to blame?

And at hardware failures, yes vice, we all understand that every new product mite have hardware failures. But 10,000 Units failing is not acceptable in my book. That is way too many, whether it be 1% or not. And 10,000 is a far cry from the 3.

Quote
So far there have been about 3 reports of this failure so there is no need to blow this out of proportion yet.

On a sunnier note. The Xbox launch was brilliant, FAR and a ways better than Sony's launch. MS put out some money for that boy. Very entertaining, and very cool things they did for promotion, like the cars, d zombies, taking over time square, they lit up some building green in some country, cool stuff right round. In comparison d PlayStation launch was boring.
O , and there was a dude that close to 1million gamer score, he had to play Japan consoles all kinda thing to get up there, MS give him a limited edition white Xbox, with a first of it's kind XBL Gold lifetime subscription card. Is cool lil things like that that made this event cool. MS learning how to market. And MS post on twitter congratulating Sony on they launch, Sony did the opposite, Sony post and say why go 720 when u can have 1080.....really?....and just so everyone clear, the Xbox does have 1080, some of the launch titles running 1080.

....Now....im going to consult the oracle, and see what "negative" news there is on the Xbox. From known proper sites..:laughing7:

(Thanks Wyatt for holding the fort till I get here, I Gots this now  :cowboy:)
