Cool, ah could accept that answer.

Good thing is, both digital and disc based exist on the Xbox now.

Hope they really put back d features for d digital version of d games at least. That way u have the choice.

And in 7 years like u say, with Xbox 2, go strong.

BTW arc, ur usecase u described with ur bro could have been done with family room and digital giving of games on the Xbox one.

Except that with the "family room" his bro can only play for 1hr before he is prompted to buy the game from the marketplace. A glorified game trial if you will.

I knew that family room business had a catch. Microsoft letting 10 ppl share games restriction free? yeah right. No valuable feature has been lost if you ask me.

Yea but d game save and full game content there still, so he could in theory continue playing after. But since d feature never see d light of day, we don't really know how it would work in reality

But for men who have brother's / friends in other countries, family room is full of all kinds of win. As too is the digital giving of the game. I go spend more money sending a disc to Trinidad than it go cost to buy it new loll.

And family room was not the only advantage to be had from all digital.

But like I said, I accept arc answer, no need to remake his point, he made it well.

Understood, but hardly a  groundbreaking feature and totally not what people were expecting it to be.
In the case where family is abroad as you said, they might as well download a free demo and decide if they like the game from that. Being able to save progress after an hour of gameplay does not scream innovative to me.

@madmunkie : Yes but I can also digitally give that game to my overseas bro without spending ah dime.
Cant do that with disc in my usecase.

And not all games have demos., which they should.

And the feature may not be ground breaking, but it's progress.
It had plenty times men telling me bout game on steam, and I'd have to get their steam password to check it out.
Family room solves that. Also I can have 10 ppl check it simultaneously anytime they want, and I still can play d game since I never lend them meh "disc"

Their are tons of scenarios and advantages to it.  And family room is not the only one.
Pre drm recall, your game library was in the cloud. So if I gone down d road by my friend, I log into his Xbox and my full library playable, in full. Etc etc etc

Also keep in mind, this would be wave 1 of these features, with nuff room to grow. But as it stands, they were completely scrapped. And I wish to have them back eventually. Even if is one feature, more is always better than less.

But as arc pointed out, not at the expense of choice/consumers in this case.

Reintroduction gradually of these features would be win win right around d board.

Reading up some more.....

...and here I was...under the impression that the 10 people in your 'family' could share the FULL game...WITHOUT restrictions.

I don't think ANY publisher would have allowed M$ to get away with that.  (That arrangement would have been AWESOME by the way, sans DRM).

Now I understand why DRM supporters thought that they lost such a 'great' feature.  :laughing7:
I guess these new revelations takes some wind out of the 'great loss' argument.

...so basically, the 'share' was supposed to be just a glorified 'demo'...and the 'demo-er' would have had to pay for the game to continue playing...AFTER the 1 hour 'trial'.   :(
How 'revolutionary'.  :(

Wow...no wonder they didn't advertise THAT part of it.

:shakehead:  Always a catch eh M$.  Just like the so-called 'Start Button'.

Xbox One, PlayStation 4 Shatter Amazon Pre-Order Records

Xbox One and PlayStation 4 contributed to Amazon's biggest pre-order week ever, with as many as 2,500 next-gen console purchases per minute funneling through the online retailer. The week of E3, which saw PlayStation 4's hardware and Xbox One's software unveiled, saw a 4,000% increase in console purchases compared to last year's (next-gen-free) E3 week.

In addition, the day-one pre-orders for PS4 and Xbox One were "nearly two times that of all video game sales on Black Friday last year."

IGN has asked Amazon for more specifics and will update this story with any extra information it provides. If you're interested, Xbox One pre-orders are back in stock on Amazon, and PlayStation 4 pre-order bundles come in a bunch of different flavors.

@Wyatt, So much for the mobile revolution.  :violent5:

Early days still.

These are the last of the mohicans.

These next gen consoles are still born as you very well know....bested by modern day PCs. It is only downhill from here.

While mobile will continue its meteoric rise well into the next decade and beyond to eclipse them both in relevance.

If that's the case, it is a great feature indeed.

I have faith that MS will if not at launch, implement it for digitally purchased games somewhere down the line. It just makes so much sense for console gamers. That and the ability to logon using any Xbox and having access to your library.

Microsoft could say anything now.  Not buying that for a minute...given their track record over the last 3 weeks.

I can't see the logic of implementing DRM to eliminate used games, alongside a system that allows 9 people to freely share a game
that 1 person bought.  That's potentially $540 US lost for every game sold (assuming every game is $60 US ).

Which publisher in their right mind would have agreed to that?

In any event, it gone, but that is more PR/damage-control.

Not all ten ppl would be  able to play it at the same time, which would make it d same as lending a disk, so as far as lost revenue goes, it would be no different than how the system is now......

And having access to entire library of borrowed games would promote more sales if u want to play it anytime, or if is multi. So potentially more revenue than the disc based system.

And I don't think MS representatives will go on official record with this info if they plan to release the feature in the future, which I think they are.
