Destra - from the time Machel start her during his performance, it was over for her. She had the wind completely knocked out of her. She perform - and dressed - worse that what she gave at Fatima all-inclusive

Machel - perform well, but I didn't like how he went nasty

Iwer - I missed that, but I heard the cran/plane thing was epic

Bunji - more Fire! lyrics like rain, he deal with Machel but like it wasn't enough

As for the results...as much as I dislike Mr HD, he did work hard for it.
I thought Iwer should have won, but say wha?

Personally, I think HD crossed the line during his 'freestyling'.  There's picong, and then
there's just plain nastiness, and HD went there.  Some might say it was in the spirit of
the competition, but I disagree.  You think he head swell before?  Is now self allyuh getting
attitude.

...and oh yeah, his fee just went up.  Again.

'coincidence' wha, just how rikki win, machel win. for chutney I can't understand how a national competition can be determined by texting, hours before the ppl perform. leave that for american idol and synergy soca star.

I was in a bar when chutney was goin on and see ppl texting even though they aint see any performances.

same thing for fantastic friday. texting start since 8am, 14 hrs before the competition start. this competition can't get any more a money making venture by bmobile?

plus all the confusion with machel a unc, gypsy in his vid, links with kamla aint helping.

that should not matter but then again is trinidad and the govenment bill the 1st prize.

imo the chutney soca and soca monarchs can't be considered legit competitions again, not with all these money making corporate giants and curtain men pulling the strings

I honestly can't see how ppl can be entertained by hearing the same piece of 10 second track for 12 minutes! An ah man soundin outta breath bawlin "advantage".
The stage antics and lack of creativity (read: using movie related themes to wow simple minded folk) are just boring... and for 12 damn minutes?!

Damn, Trinidadians really need to up their standards.

Iwer's performance was more deserving of the win though, and haterforever stated the exact reason why this thing is ah sham, an poor trinidadian's watching dey culture get corrupt year after year.

Corruption is a way of life in 'sweet' T&T for a long time.  Some of us just don't want to admit it.

Sadly, this result has a lot of people crying foul...especially in light of the AG's statements in Parliament last week.  Perhaps he knew something we all didn't?

This competition has now been tainted.

I not even interested in the 2012 edition.

OK pause. now I dont mind either song, but Machel did exactly what he had to, to win the fudging monarch. I have NO idea why people are toting on the man. Iwer song is crap, limited lyrical content.
Machel did like a TRUE calypsonian and spoke about current issues and relevant things in his song. Yes he curried favor but hoss Its fricking Trinidad, DEAL WITH IT that is the way the world works.
"Lewwe thank the government ment ment" it working both ways, Machel song was superior in MY opinion.
This was probably By Far Iwer's Hardest track yet. But hopefully He'll stay true to his word and go and live in Grenada.. so we wont have to wait another 5 years for a hit song.

Also, I don't think you people realise how many DIE HARD machel fans there are. Thus, i see it being completely legitimate if the event was decided by texting in votes. Allyuh doh realise to a certain segment of the population Machel Might as well be the 2nd coming of christ. He has also single handedly taken soca further than ANY other Artiste. If you want soca to 'stay true to form' then you want it to stagnate and if you want it to stagnate it will die.

Machel deSERVED that Title, being a pompous fool doesnt deny you the right to win a title the same way being an alcoholic doesnt deny you the right to become the PM.  Tote all the feelings you want. Machel, while not being the best 'brand ambassador' to soca, he is BY far the most far reaching. You don't see BUNJI Garlin selling out Madison Square Garden EVERY SINGLE YEAR!

It's people like you why the status quo will remain as is, and competitions are no longer honourable.

I couldn't give a flying f@#k how many 'die-hard' fans there are.  That ahould NEVER be part of judging criteria for a 'singing' competition.  Then, it's reduced to a popularity contest, which will always be skewed
in favour of the 'more established' artiste...and this is exactly why I think the Chutney Monarch show in its current form is a pack of @$$.  At least the Soca Monarch had actual 'judges'.
