lol, that would have been a helluva present.

Yeah boy reaper, PC gamers are becoming extinct. We've been cut from schindler's list. Microsoft, Activision and EA have let loose the dogs of war on us.

Fear not, as berserk mentioned, we still have Valve.

http://store.steampowered.com/news/4502/

Steam is making a strong showing and it could forge the way back to glory for our beloved platform.

We may never see the days of old, sweat runnin at a GL till 6AM with men playing Starcraft 2 and Call of Duty 7 on a LAN.

But a new digital download infused, always online PC Gamer may stand, head and shoulders above these console cretins come 2012.

This is an official state of emergency.

Time to pull out all the stops to keep the PC banner waving yes. We maybe few but we are awesome!

(PS...redlum what time sweat starting on live tonight??)

niceness

I figure about 8-9ish tonight

More fuel for the fire:

Crytek says publishers have very low expectations of PC sales vs that of consoles. As a result, the success of console SKUs are holding back development of superior PC games.

Developer "Double Fine" (Grim Fandango, Monkey Island, Psychonauts), explains why they don't do PC gaming. Publisher doesn't seen financial return on PC versions of the game.

Wow....simply WOW. Of all d people to create dis type of thread, I never expected it would be you nah wyatt...and to top it off, man like cap gone an order a 360?! Like d Mayans were right about d world comin to an end soon oui! :D

Seriously though, hats off to you for putting it out there with the blunt stats, articles and all. And kudos to capn fuh actually divin in d console fray - if yuh try it and yuh eh like, das one ting, buh to bad talk it and yuh never even try it, yuh have no credibility, so bless.

Fuh d most part I convert to d 360 full bore, but it still have some games will get me back to d PC fuh a small tush, only one I can think of right now is Diablo 3, but even that Blizzard is looking to bring to the console as per a job opening that they had on their website looking for console developers. As wyatt mentioned, there's no denying the numbers that console sales are putting up.

As "affordable" as PC games may be on Steam et al, I honestly cannot bring myself to buy dem nah...fuh me is almost like if it on d PC, den I hadda find a way to get it for $0 down. Whereas I have no qualms about droppin $60 on it fuh meh Xbox. But maybe I jes strange like dat.

Well my 2 cents is thus->

D biggest cuase fuh pc gaming getting lash is piracy. Piracy has become so rampant, it have men juss would not buy a pc game, they shudder at the thought of purchasin ah pc game, but same men will go spend money on d same exact game for a console. First step to restoring PC gaming is -> BUY D PPL DAM GAME!

2 Things will save pc gaming.

#1 Digital Download Services, iliminates d need for dealing wiht installing, it automatically updates, etc etc Steam is EPIC WIN. i've bought more games in d past 2 years dan i have my entire life, becuase of Steam. No disc to deal with, no updates to worry bout, nothing, click->buy->play.

#2 Online gaming. The industry is moving more and more into online only gaming, making pc piracy more difficult. More and more developers shellin out for propper online content, and i think that will help a great deal moving forward for pc sales, since piracy shoudl start dropping, aka SC2 lack of lan support, i totally endorse, something has to be done to stop Us!! pirates.

PC gaming will always be around, no doubt about that, and seeing how d future moving towards digital downlaod / heavy online support, that going hand in hand with PC gaming as it moves into the future.

With companys like Blizzard, ATi, Nvidia, valve etc etc, and all d others berzerk and d likes already mention. We looking good so far.

PC graphics are superior in every respect, and most developers making games for all 3 platforms, and d pc version does always look better, (execpt fifa which has been resolved as of d latest release). So if i have to choose, i will always choose to play ah game on pc.

Programs like Ventrilo/Mumble helps alot too, best part of gaming is d community.
Knowing who u gaming with , etc etc.
When i rest ah uppercut in Arcman chess, and hearing him go "OH GOORDD" via mumble, thats entertainment. (yes yes, yuh handle yuh mbison well and deal meh some good cutass yuhself lol).

So all in all, to show my support for pc gaming, i started buyin d ppl game, even games easy to crack, with no online multi, like shank etc. D price of ah console game, u getin bout 5 of dem games on steam. Dirt 2 on PC is just gorgeous.

So in closing. PC Gaming = no discs to deal with, worryless auto updates, better graphics, utilizing my same pc hardware i using for other shit, strong online community, WE ARE HERE TO STAY, PC GAMERS FTW!

My 5c
I have and will continue to buy several titles on the PC (even if they are available on the console ergo Dirt 1,2, SW Force Unleashed just to name a few), however the BIG titles of late, the MW, BOPS, etc, I get my fix on the console because the community only for multi is SO rich on XBL and the platform as a whole just CAN'T be beat! mumble as cool as it is imho do work as well as the in-built voice capabilities of XBL, sorry daz just the way i've experienced it, not to mention I do have to set up SQUAT to chat with someone on Live...

I don't know what the voice capabilities of the other consoles are but your point about hearing arcman bawl out doh hold no water.

The reason I buy certain games on the PC is simple, EYE CANDY

Online multi, XBL wins

Look at simple things like forming a party and entering a match in MW2, BOPS,  etc I can do it on my XBox, I can't do it on my PC :( it's ANNOYING, then there's searching for a suitable server... whats that? on XBL it finds the most suitable server at that time. And dedicated servers.... dat argument went out the window A LONG TIME NOW, first hand experience is they lag just as much if not more. So I agree that we should all support PC gaming, it has its place, but consoles are the future :p

just came online with reach but not seeing anyone on.

Only name I recognise on my list is redlum but he's offline.

Gimme a few names to try now, who might be on?

It is really stupid for dedicated servers to be lagging and acting a fool. In the case of blackops, I really don't know what to say. That maybe bad code all around.

Thing is, we've had a good dose of lag even with the Battlefield Bad Company 2 server. Especially when its full.

Maybe if we had dedicated "local" servers, this wouldn't be the case.

As is, foreign hosted servers really have disappointed as far as alleviating lag goes.

In the past, piracy wasn't quite as easy/accessible as it is now...yuh had to know people, know sites, newsgroups etc, but now...every yout and he lil cousin could use torrent, and for sure for sure dey have at least one torrent site dat could get them d latest game dey want. And even self a simple Google does buss level results fuh conducin yuh fix. And is not to say Xbox immune to dis whole piracy scene eh, buh from d time Microsoft find yuh skin...permaban in yuh arse - enough incentive to keep it clean, for d most part, anyway.
