Well the Superbowl Spot isn't as good as the wicked trailers we already have (and we've seen a lot of the footage already) but here it is anyway.

o.O First time hearing about this.
Downloadable title. If it comes in at a nice cheap price point then people will consider it cause that game is launching at a really bad time considering what out on the FPS market.

I checked it out.

Sad to say, but it was nothing special.
It's just okay.
The trailers made it look WAY better than it actually is.

It really is a war movie where, instead of the enemy being human...they're ETs. Now I know that sounds interesting (and it sure as hell LOOKED interesting) but it really wasn't.
The alien weaponry really isn't spectacular at all. In fact, not so different from our weaponry. They have these drone things zooming around in the sky but they are never really involved in anything cool.

The entire movie is from the perspective of this squad of marines. Now, I LOVE war movies. But this was just bland, man. People were saying that this looked like Black Hawk Down but with aliens. Let me just say if Black Hawk Down had this level of writing it would be VERY boring.
They put in a lot of scenes to get us emotional (for example, a marine has to sacrifice himself to save everyone else)...and they make a whole big thing out of it. It's cheesy, because unlike in good war movies these characters aren't very well developed and we don't care a whole lot. It's a good thing the movie was about fighting aliens otherwise it would have been dead boring.

What was good about it - there are some cool action scenes. Nothing groundbreaking. But cool. My fav was the marine deployment at the start, with all the meteors coming down...that was intense. It needed more emphasis on the aliens though. And the aliens could have been a lot more badass. They're just...meh.

Overall, what a let down. Wasn't bad but I just expected so much more.

Of course, this is all my opinion. Who knows, you might like it.

From the trailers i was hyped to see this movie.. Went to see it last Tuesday in Movietowne. Now for the record I think the movie achieved what it set out to be initially. A good summer action flick. Just without it actually being summer. As someone pointed out earlier, the opening sequence where the soldiers were deployed and meteors where zoomin down was really epic and set the tone for the first 30mins of the movie. I agree that they pilfered from alot of other movies. Black Hawk Down, independence Day, Cloverfield, District 9, etc.. but i always say, if ur gonna steal; steal from the best. The script was sorta cheezy intru and full of cliche.
The story was about one particular group of soldiers struggle during the invasion. The whole movie played out like a 1hr 56mins military commercial. Stating how valiant, and self-sacrificing the marines are etc. yada yada... But in its defence, the movie had some really good set pieces. And Aaron Eckart brought some credibility to his character. What the movie did succeed in doing (if only a little) is make you care about this group of marines. The directors opted to present the movie in a documentary style format. A little excessive use of the shaky cam technique, a little nauseating but effective to some extent. The aliens weren't phenomenal, but they weren't that bad either. Although their weapons weren't exaggerated in terms of the tech in use, it brought a sense of realism to the whole plot. I mean aliens and all, i would've been a little out of the realism if an alien drew for his force cannon and blasted men with sonic booms. Special effects was typical for this type of movie, good. Pacing was ok. There was some discrepancies regarding continuity for certain scenes tho. Ne-yo was actually ok in his character. But all in all the movie doesn't try to take itself too seriously. It set out to what it wanted to accomplish and delivered just that. It wasn't as shallow as skyline. The movie had heart. Heck, i wanted to join that dam marines after watchin this. lol. Its a good sci-fi action flick with a little meat on it. Not as deep as District 9 but not as bad as ppl make it out to be.
Why don't you kiss my dual-sticks?

THE GAME OUT ALREADY?!
nice!
I liked the movie...I mean there were many glitches in the story...but the visuals, sound, camera editing and action sequences made up for it.
original i gave this a 3.5 out of 5....but that was because i watched a lame bootleg...when i viewed this at theatre. I'll give this a 4. a bit brainless....but lots of nice energy

LOL you took the words out of my mouth yes. I had extremely low expectations for this one after watching Skyline recently. I actually enjoyed the movie, it started off kinda slow but I did enjoy the ending. Yeah of course plot holes galore but I think that is to be expected in any alien invasion movie lol. Nothing can beat the Independence Day ending though, a virus uploaded from a mac takes out all dem aliens? hehe.

just took this in.

Had wayyy low expectations, but ended up enjoying it. Real Army propoganda, and it was almost like this was a marketing strategy to get people to join the US Marines, but heck, it was well done.

Typical faceless aliens, against the might of the American war machine....where do I sign up?

took it in friday. I was content with my $15 at trincity =D lol. Since i've become such a BC2 fan i enjoyed. Plot was sub-standard but thats the case with most alien invading movies. And this then proves again, american marines are apparently the shit lol. I vote DICE does a side expansion to Battlefield 3 and model it after Battle LA. imo, the movie would make a good short storyline for a video game
