My word!

That first honeycomb review you posted Messiaah was RIDICULOUSLY long.

Very impressive and extremely comprehensive review though. Still, that must have been 500,000 words. Wouldn't want to be his editor.

I'm sold on Honeycomb. Just not sold on needing a tablet.

Could quicker justify the kindle (cheap one) as a tool to help the kids read and gain easy access to books.

Folks who have tablets, what has been your usage? Is it really earning its spot in your tech arsenal? or just a nice to have?

i doubt is that... you just dont have a need for it... tablets are a very niche market... apple is trying to change that but... in all honesty i know quite a few people with ipad's...

they have noooo use for it.. the thing does be collecting dust most of the time.. but yet still they buy it (cuz is apple and is a fad lol)...

there are uses for it doh.. but most people dont have those uses, a mini/laptop does usually be a better investment if yuh spendin that kinda cash neways

Indeed the popularity we are seeing in tablets has been led by Apple with their continued focus on the iPad. We should see continued growth in the tablet space with a bunch of new  Android tablets by the end of the year. As with everything else growth will level out as these tablets mature.

We've seen it happen to netbooks actually, with growth dwindling some have even predicted the death of the netbook. I would totally disagree with that since there will obviously always be demand from those that want a cheap/basic laptop....

This article has some good points, I like this part -

http://www.mobilemarketer.com/cms/news/manufacturers/9099.html

Quote

"The popularity of tablets and netbooks really varies a lot by market. Developed countries are a lot less price-sensitive than developing countries, where the choice of computer is an either/or choice, whereas the U.S. is a both/and choice.

The tablet is not going to be the primary computing device for most people in the U.S. It is primarily used for leisure as a media consumption device."

“Although tablets have started to steal sales from both netbooks and notebooks, they do serve slightly different purposes—they are not exactly interchangeable.

“From a media consumption perspective, a tablet is more appealing, but if you’re looking for actual work purposes, netbooks are still a little bit more robust in that department, at least until enterprise software for tablets catches up.”

The real question is, what is the difference between an Android Tablet and an Android cellphone? Is it just screen size ie. 10" & 7" tablets versus 5" and under screens? Many of us are getting the tablet experience already, though on a smaller screen....

good point about d differnece, apple went through lenghts, to make ipad a difference, cuase d ipad is ah whole different ballgame from ah iphone. Realestate helps alot, will have to see how android denunciates itself from phone. and good point about netbook, first strain of netbooks is shit. Now netbooks is d way, not even for cheap lowend, but high end too.

My old laptop was ah 17" xps m1710, and it pale in comparison to my
13" Asus u30jc netbook, which , isss, FAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!, and it runs sc2, and gives me ah solid 5 hrs heavy usage. But ah solid windows based Tablet will phase out my netbook i think.
E-Slate is quite capable.  But i waiting.

That's interesting to read...because my impression was the complete opposite - it's just an iPhone with a bigger screen. Curious about your reason for saying that?

honestly, i also thought the ipad would be juss an enlarged iphone, but lacking d ability to make calls lolol. I asked myself, whats d point of ipad if iphoen can do eveyrthing it can.

But apple introduced HD apps. So certain apps are designed for d ipad from the ground up.
Messenging apps for example, d iphone versions suck, compared to the ipad versions.
All iphone apps can run on ipad, but not vice versa. there are certain apps ipad exclusive. Becuase d iphoen dont have d power/realestate to make said apps posible.

Pulse for instance, though d same app, is ah total difference expereince on the ipad vs iphone. Other things like, XBMC commander on the ipad is brilliant, iphoen version is stripped.

Because of d extra gpu power in the ipad, and however apple position dem developers to do it, i eh know, but dey doing something right.

So all in all, apple is putting forward ah nice effort to make the ipad somethign other dan an overgrown iphone. To the point i was actualy consdering....buying...an ipad....

But like HoneyComb, and the Asus E-slate, not quite satisfied yet.
If i go slate, i dont want to be lobbin aroudn ah netbook/LAPTOP! lol also.
I want ah true laptop replacement, so obviously honey nor ios can do that, since i need proper windows apps, and d poor batterylife on d e-slate kinda spoil the package. Asus say they have an answer for d ipad 2 waiting, so i mite hold off see what that looks like.

I also waiting to see how d market develop, or what windows 8 looks like on arm. Which rumored to hit beta around sep. I in dat!

Samsung pwning the market with there Super Amoled Screens, its why i jump d HTC ship in favor of samsung device.

What about the atrix better?

Samsung S2 = 4.3" Super Amoled Plus, and 32gb NAND.

Which is the advantages i see d samsung have over atrix.

Why's atrix better?

Gingerbread (2.3.3) officially rolling out to Nexus One and Nexus S owners. Only an incremental update for Nexus S, but totally new for Nexus One.

If you can't wait for the OTA (over the air) update, grab it from XDA:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=965478

While I agree that Apple has made it so that apps can be different on the iPad, it still feels the same, just bigger. The core OS and experience is the same, so while some apps may look and feel different (Pulse, XBMC, etc), that's not really as big of a difference as say Honeycomb (3.x) compared to 2.x and below variants of Android. I think it's fairly obvious the extra lengths that Google has gone to differentiate the tablet market from the smartphone market - just about flat out telling everyone that anything before Honeycomb not meant for tablets, so wait for Honeycomb - not to mention the revamped look and feel of the OS. Even some folks that I know with one admit that it's just a bigger version of their phones :D

Oh I noticed a bunch of apps that I close with advanced task killer still running when I check services in settings. Are there any apps that can help me manage background services?
