The S3 aint bad...its great.

Just that it is going to be expensive no mc for sometime as its sammy's flagship phone now.

It is android's best answer to the iphone to date. If you got the $, go through and score.

The Galaxy Nexus on the other hand is half the asking price and a decent enough contender to fit the bill right now.

Its slim and sleek but definitely bigger than a bb. On par with the iphone in size. The Galaxy S3 is even bigger.

You can see them compared side by side here in decent detail.

The HTC One X is thrown in the mix too.

Indeed don't think early adopters get the most bang for the buck hehe. A year from now these new phones will be much cheaper. You know how it goes.

Indeed this has been the trend with Samsung making plastic phones....

http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/news/2012/05/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-hands-on-fast-thin-and-a-little-bit-cheap-feeling.ars

The Galaxy S III is a conservative evolution of the Galaxy S II. The hardware is feature-packed, and TouchWiz has a number of interesting and potentially useful unique features. Android purists will be disappointed at the custom software, but for everyone else, it will be well worth consideration when it's released later this month. It's just a pity that for all the innovation on the inside, and all the work that Samsung has done on the software, the whole thing is wrapped up in a package that is so mediocre. Flagship phones deserve better than flimsy plastic.

I'd almost class this as a nitpick.

They said the same of the nexus and having held the thing in my hand, it doesn't feel cheap.

ymmv

and as Arc said, if you put your phone in any sort of case/protective enclosure, the point becomes immediately moot.

One thing to consider on that note, these device are already so huge that a case could well put it over the edge of being able to comfortably fit in your pocket.

My present BB with a case is obnoxious in size. Could you imagine an S3 wrapped in armor? gg no re

Very true. I have a full body boxwave case on my Galaxy Note so it really is a moot point. As for size I've gotten used to it but it is definitely not for everyone. I actually prefer phones with larger screens.

That is my biggest reservation. The size.

I found the iphone to be a brick and these android devices have surpassed it in size.

Will soon find out if I can live with a monstrous smartphone. If not, expect a galaxy nexus to appear on the trading grounds soon. lol

Wyatt, you ever hold ah comparable htc smartphone? build quality is night and day. So unless you handle one, you wont know the difference between cheap and premium feel. And even with a case, the samsung devices feels cheap compared to cased htc.

Also, the light weight of d samsung devices lends to ALOT of drops, i drop mines rel plenty, if wasnt for d case that phone mashup long itme. My htc devices on d other hand, i dropped my hd2 maybe twice ever. And my titan has never dropped from my hand. Weight, Grip, and Balance juss on another level. So their are other advantages to be had from a premium build other than protection. Cant just case it and gg. As far as i go anyway.

Also, iphone cases are hideous and monstrous. A nice slim profile boxwave case adds extremely little size to the device. Cased with boxwave u wont be able to tell the difference and will fit just like the naked device.

Like many ive gotten used to the size, 4.3" on d HD2 was perfect phone size for me, but the titan has 4.7" but barely bigger than  4.3" device, so it too is good for me. Using a phone without a physical keyboard, d large screen is almost a necessity for typing ease/speed. I hate typing on an iphone, it too cramped, and annoying.

And if you sell ah nexus in favor of a bb, then i can only pitty you. lol.

I've never dropped any of my phones *knock on wood* cases are a matter of preference I guess. In the past I would just use an invisible shield.

I've handled an HTC, didn't notice any appreciable superiority in build quality at the time.

My point of reference as far as quality goes would have to be the iphone. Solid as a rock.

As mentioned before, the issue is not an important one to me, cause its gonna get the case treatment anyway.

And a decent case renders the build quality null and void imo

Lol @ going back to bb. Doubt that. Just a different model android.

no no, was just saying hypothetically, if the nexus turned out to be too big and clumsy for everyday use I'd trade it for a smaller, neater droid.

Most likely the large form factor will grow on me once the device is in hand.

Complainers gonna complain.

All the previews and 'reviews' complaining about 'cheap and plasticky' are just that.  Complainers.
It won't stop Samsung from from taking over just a little more of the smartphone market share.

Smartphone manufacturers making 'flagship' phones in plastics for years now.
It's cheaper, and lighter, and that's a good thing.  These things already cost as much as
computers.  So called 'premium materials' would drive the price, and the weight, sky-high.

OtterBox + Invisible shield = non-issue

All those same reviewers harping on the One X about looks and feel, have successfully
downplayed the very real concern, and practicality of not having an easily replaceable
battery in an Android device.  Lets face it... Android certainly won't set any battery-life records.
I wonder what 'design aesthetics' will do for you when that 'battery Low' alert sounds it's critical chime?
My (future) S3 will happily accept another battery while that One X will turn into an 'aesthetically pleasing' BRICK.  :laughing7:

Your anti-SGS3/One X tears... I can will taste them.  :laughing7:

Indeed.  Sub-par battery life has been the bane of Android power-users for a long time now.
Sadly, the battery tech has not kept pace with the hardware/OS advancements.

Should you invest in another battery one time?  The short answer?  Hell yes.

If you intend to use the phone daily as the multimedia tour-de-force that it's meant to be,
then an extra battery is a necessity.  You aren't just buying it to make calls.
There's Windows Phones and iPhones for that.  (troll)
