Reading the comments, I still can't believe its a phone processor they are talking about, lol.

It sounds so much like a desktop PC conversation.

How far the mobile platform has come.

I stopped reading the comments when people started saying that they 'disappointed'.   WTF!?  Really?  'Disappointed' in Samsung's choice of a QUAD-CORE CPU... FOR A PHONE.....   :/

*sigh*

I'm still marveling at the fact that we reach here already.
If the power-gating capabilities make it more energy-efficient than the SGS2 dual-core, then that's a serious win right there.  That, combined with killer hardware might be reason enough for an upgrade. :happy0203:  (Even though I said I wouldn't)

I too am disappointed in this product, ever since it was announced to be coming with a9 chips.

The fact is that Samsung has already developed the Cortex A15 which runs at 2ghz. More powerful and power efficient.

I keep hoping that they would put the a15's in the S3 but doesnt look like that is going to happen. Essentially, S3 adopters are going to be getting old tech which has already been replaced.

Even IF I was to buy a Samsung phone (which I wont), im certainly not going to be shelling out top dollar for something with internals that has already been replaced. Fuhgetaboutit.

I know some of you will be like 'but Awesome, is quad core, what more you want?'

To that I say two things.

1) Old tech might be 'fast enough' for normal needs but how can I as a techie (in good conscience) pay top dollar for 'flagship' device using old tech. I'll always know it have better already out.

2) Simply being quad core doesnt make a thing fast. Very few apps on Android (save benchmark apps) actually take advantage of the extra threading power right now so in many cases, performance is going to be on par with current gen dual core devices.

This is true for the desktop also

The Dual Core version of the HTC One X outperforms the Tegra 3 quad version, and is less sluggish as well, too re-inforce capt. point.

One another note.

'Cut ass' is subjective.

The very reasons I detest the One X's design is why I like the SGS3... nice curves, removable battery (higher capacity too), HD display, micro-SD support, much better/faster performance.

'High Tech Computer'  (lolz, really!?) will be keeping that.
Thank you Samsung.  Keep showing the competition how to make a proper, practical smartphone.  Haters gonna hate, until they can do better.

Yeah... To say that 'I want one' is putting it mildly.
I keep throwing money at the screen...and nothing's happening.   :laughing7:

@ Arc: I could understand d removable battery and want of sdcard. But samsung keep dropping the ball in terms of design for me. I had a samsung focus, and when i see d focus s is d same old plastic cheap balls, i jump ship to HTC Titan, and d build quality on d titan just epic. Samsung come back with this plastic nonesense when men like HTC and Nokia rocking polycarbonate. HTC all but removed Samsungs screen advantage with 4.7" S-LCD 2, when i saw gs3 rocking a 4.8 ah say but wah trouble is this, they 1up htc? only to find out the idiots used a pentile display, stuesp.
If d display was non-pentile, i mite have forgiven the garbage build quality. But Pentile+Plastic = shit. compared to one-x oui.

I keeping ah close eye on both products, because windows phone 8 devices in october basically going to be d exact same phones with wp8 running on it. So i doh really care bout batterylife that much since my phone already lasts me 2 days. so removable battery i could sacrifice, really doh need sdcard too. So for me is down to build quality, screen size, and screen quality. HTC have it. As far as performance, wont see a difference on either of them on wp8 so doh matter to me.

BTW:

"Ubergizmo had some hands-on time with the new Samsung Galaxy S3, which of course has breath-taking specs like a Quadcore processor and 1 GB of RAM, but interestingly found that the handset still suffered from the “Android thing”, writing:

In terms of system responsiveness, it is good, but not “groundbreaking” when compared to other fast Android handsets. I think that this is mainly an Android “thing”, so there’s not much that Samsung can do about this. Android 4.0 improved the UI responsiveness by quite a bit, but in my opinion, iOS and Windows Phone are still more responsive to user input.

I imagine when Windows Phone 8 gets running on the same hardware, as the rumours suggest, it will become even more clear that speeds and feeds can never really make it for poor design."

source

Really? Steups, android UI is rel balls yes, quad core and man phone still laggy, i saw it on d one-x , now d gs3, stuesp. Google betters fix that fast, because as long as that so, i go keep cussing android.

Messiaah,

All that you now write there is of ZERO consequence to me, and the majority of people who want an Android phone that looks good, and performs well...and not ready to give up the flexibility of removable storage and batteries.

We could go in circles whole day about 'pentile'. Fact is: most buyers won't care one whit about that, but they WILL care if they can't change or upgrade their battery.  I'm glad Samsung took the sensible design decisions that they did.

All the phones I've ever owned were plastic.  It's really not that big of a deal.  Mine going in a kickass OtterBox either way, so me eh bizness.  :)

Yea, everybody have different priorities of what they want in a phone.
If removable battery is paramount, then there is no choice atal, you only have one. GS3.

I juss want a no compromise phone, that have d best of all. So i doh have to hot my head choosing between features.
Give me 1 phone with all.

Super sexy 4.7~5.0 " Screen (once d size is conservative)
Big stock battery (or removeable)
Shitload of storage (or microsd)
Metal or PolyCarbo Design
Epic Camera (preferable carl zeis pureview)
And fast CPU
At least 1GB RAM

That way i juss click d buy button. Done.

I hope nokia give me that come october. But samsung and htc getting on rel bad in d hardware division right now, its going to be tough.

The pentile debate is overblown, haven't seen anything yet on screen quality issues on the s3.

sounds like Messiaah waiting on the Iphone 5, lol

Not overly impressed with the SG3. (It is impressive......just not enough to keep me waiting to spend my $$)

Gonna go with galaxy nexus.

That US$849.99 sticker shock for early adopters on the S3 could stay right there
