Don't forget you're in BB country eh. We are the majority. You elitist and your Androids always hatin on the berry users like if we are scum. steups.

If the country had an outbreak of some disease, sure the majority would have it but it wont mean its desirable, now would it?

Its the job of the non-infected to clean up the scourge and show the dirty masses the right and true way which is Android/wp/ios. We're just doing our civic duty.

I must say, ics looks like it's addressed my biggest android gripe.
And on hardware like that wayeee, its enough to have one start thinking bout jumping ship.
Its all on Nokia now.

Seems like there will be no release on the 11th as originally planned :(

Any guesses as to the reason for postponement? Jobs' death? ip4s's lackluster appeal?

When google whennnnn???

The Dext will have threaded sms through the Motorola Blur UI

IMO every version of Android was utter bullocks up until V2.1

If possible save a little more money and get a Milestone aka Droid

If not look for a alternative HTC as most of the Motorola's will have

locked bootloaders so you cant load custom ROM's if that's what you intend to do

but if you not heavy into that scene the Dext should be fine.

The Milestone is 2x the price of the DEXT so it's not exactly a save a little more issue. I believe the DEXT can be upgraded to 2.3 as well. Only really a few things i want in a phone, they are kinda hard to find for the prices i can afford.

There is no upgrade to 2.3

There is a upgrade to 2.1 on some of the dext's ....just some not all.....

and i will urge you to stay away from that upgrade if you go on

the Motorola owners forum you'll see the upgrades crashed almost

all the devices it was applied to...

In lieu of all this if u buy it and leave it stock you should be fine

Noted about the crash on upgrade. I will definitely look closer into it before making that purchasing decision, or i might not go into Android at all lol. Thanks for the advice.

lol na man you could use android right now I use it daily v2.3.7 Gingerbread

on Cyanogenmod7 you could probably look @ a Samsung or a HTC

their official software updates usually go to a wider spread of devices

Not the OS i'm running away from so much as prices. Can't afford to spend 2k on a phone just yet, definitely not with Christmas coming up. That being said i can't use a broken Nokia1100 for too much longer.

Hopefully you guys look at this fairly early, a guy is offering:

2 wk samsung galaxy mini s5570 unlocked in mint condition with data cable,charger, headset,memory card,android 2.3.4.,working beautiful,--$ 900.00.today

Should i take the plunge at that price? The specs are slightly better than the Cliq, including the OS. However the Cliq had physical QWERTY but no radio.

Enlighten me with your Android knowledge and phone hardware wisdom, thanks in advance.

This is what irks me about Android sometimes...

http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/reviews/2010/11/worst-gadget-ever-ars-reviews-a-99-android-tablet.ars

It's too easy to slap on any waste-of-time hardware, resulting in a truly horrible user
experience.  This is the ONE area where I respect Apple's philosophy.

...but it gets better though...

Consider Best Buy's blog about that same tablet :laughing7:...

Ahhhh boy, Ice Cream Sandwhich (ICS) has now been officially unveiled!!

If it not broken dont fix it right? Pile on the features and improvements, spruce up the interface I lovee what I see so far!!

Quote
Option to use virtual buttons in the UI, instead of taking up capacitive touch buttons
Widgets are in a new tab, listed in a similar list to apps

Folders are much easier to create, with a drag-and-drop style similar to iOS

A customizable launcher

New phone app with visual voicemail functionality that lets you speed up or slow down voicemail messages

Pinch-to-zoom functionality in the calendar

Gmail has offline search, a two-line preview, and new action bar at the bottom

Swipe left or right to switch between Gmail conversations

Integrated screenshot capture by holding power and volume down buttons

Improved error correction on the keyboard

Ability to access apps directly from lock screen (similar to HTC Sense 3.x)

Improved copy and paste

Better voice integration

Face Unlock, a facial recognition service

New tabbed web browser, allowing up to 16 tabs

Browser now automatically syncs your Chrome bookmarks

Modern "Roboto" font

Data Usage section in settings lets you set warnings when you reach a certain amount of use and disabling data when you go over your limit

Ability to kill off apps that are using data in the background

Camera app: zero shutter lag, time lapse settings, zoom while recording

Built-in photo editor

New gallery layout, organized by location and person

Refreshed people app with social network integration, status updates and hi-res images

Android Beam, a NFC feature that lets you exchange websites, contact info, directions, YouTube, etc.

Don't like some of those preloaded carrier apps? Disable 'em. Android Engineer Dan Morrill mentions that, among other new features, any app can be disabled, and while it will still take up space in ROM, it won't be snatching any of your precious resources or clock cycles again if you don't want it to.

My Word, these specs nasty.:

- A 4.65" 1280x720 HD Super AMOLED display with a 100,000:1 contrast ratio and 16:9 aspect ratio (that's 326ppi vs. 326ppi on the iPhone 4/4S)
- A 1.2" GHz dual-core CPU with 1GB of RAM
- LTE or HSPA+ connectivity
- A contour display (like the Nexus S) with an ultra-thin bezel
- Barometer for weather features
- NFC support
- WiFi b/g/n
- 1750mAh battery
- Hyperskin anti-slip coating
- Hidden notification LED
- 5MP camera with 1080p video capture (with continuous focus, zoom while recording, time lapse, and video snapshots), 1.3MP front-facing camera
- Zero shutter lag
