It is a fantastic price.

Google made room in the market when they bumped up the Nexus 7 to $229

Nvidia is doing well to fill that $199 void.

I don't know how they achieved that price point.....

Amazon could pull that off and make up $$ with their ads and app store for the kindle.

Not sure what Nvidia's strategy is but definitely can't argue with the value for money being proffered here.

Where Messiaah??? And so they rise!

Yuh could get 8.1" tablets running full Windows 8 on amazon now for 230$, so I not too impressed with NVidia tablet, especially seeing that it running tegra. A chipset I have zero love for. After the total fail that was tegra 3, tegra 4 going to really have to prove itself to me. For an extra 30$ to go intel based with full windows 8 available, and better specs? that NVidia note go stay right they. Good on them for pushing prices down even more, but prices are already down, so meh, nothing special to see here.

8.1" 1280 x 800 resolution, high-brightness (300-nit): with integrated 5-Point multi-touch screen, supporting finger touch and image auto rotation
•Windows 8
•Intel® Atom™ Dual-Core Processor Z2760 1.5GHz with Intel® Burst Technology up to 1.8GHz
•2048MB of LPDDR2 800 MHz Onboard memory chip support
•Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator with 64MB of dedicated system memory
•32GB Internal Storage
•High-definition audio support
•Two Built-in Stereo Speakers
•Integrated Digital Microphone
•802.11a/b/g/n Wireless
•Bluetooth® 4.0 + EDR
•1- Micro USB 2.0 Port
•1 - Micro-HDMI™ with HDCP support
•MicroSD memory slot up to 32GB(SDHC 2.0 compatible)
•2MP Rear-Facing Camera
•2MP Front-Facing Camera
•Sensors:Gyroscope, E-Compass, G-Sensor, Ambient light sensor
•2-Cell Li-Polymer Battery

But personally I waiting on Surface Pro 2, so I could care less either way lol.
Surface Pro 1 running Windows 8.1 just boss. As Pro 2 launch next Tuesday, I hitting d buy button immediately. Then giving wife my Pro 1.

Why it have windows mobile propaganda on meh Android ched boy.

But ok, that Acer does look interesting. Still, its like a netbook without a keyboard. Also, can't imagine performance to be that great on weak atom and just two gigs of ram. After all, this IS a full desktop OS shoehorned into a very crippled machine.

I wonder if it will be upgradable to 8.1...

Ok, yes it is upgradable...ok now I kinna want one.

the new atoms is not d mess that d first ones was, yes it will be Upgradable to 8.1 , everything will, and bay trail right around d corner to give even better performance at gunta price points.

And yes, for me, d performance of the Acer makes no sense (ill never buy an Acer regardless) , but that still better than tegra...lol.

That acer is a fun little machine...to play around with for a few days then i'll just get fedup. Tablets on the whole, for me are pretty useless. Even an Android tablet wont be used much in my hands. My phone is my one stop shop for all mobile needs and it does it admirably.

I hear that, I myself never bought a tablet for d same reasons, I only bought surface pro cause it successfully served as a replacement for my laptop. But ill say this, since getting surface pro, my phone use dramatically plummeted. Just so fulfilling being able to kick back on d couch and fully empowered with all my work tools, (that aren't available on any mobile devices, wp/ios/android), and d real estate is good to have as well. Go see if Nokia 1520 go bring back up phone usage.

@ Awesome...Story of my life.

The android phone is just too epic. Even my PC taking a back seat. 80% of the time spent on the phone.

Scary to imagine what the scene will be like in a few years with WiDi and such.

I step in my car, phone auto connect to peripherals

I step in my house, phone auto connect to peripherals

I step in the office, phone auto connect to peripherals

gg wp no re

Tablets can't get between that.

They are brilliant for my moms, wifey and the kids....but no...they not seeing much usage from me AT ALL.

In fact, even my wife has stopped spending much time on her Ipad since she got the Iphone to be honest. So right now is only the kids and moms pushing tablet in the house.

^^ When pitting a mobile phone against a typical tablet, yes, i fully agree, but when yuh using a tablet that running full windows, is ah different story all together. My phone plays second fiddle to my surface. Didn't expect that outcome, but it's what happened. Go be interested to see if your sentiment remains the same when u get to handle ah proper hybrid for ah while.

Well I must admit, the old school IT person in me is curious about the Iconia.

The price is right and I've run Ubuntu on Atoms already and it wasn't horrible.

Windows 8 may not be half bad.

If someone could buy one locally so I could get a lil test drive......that would be nice. (hint hint)

Dreamt of a small portable device running full fledged windows for years and with this Iconia w3, that is finally a reality.

Maybe too little too late as Android and open source already taking over the world though. Pity.

Wyatt, windows in the palm of the hand was possible a while back eh. But it was prohibitively expensive.
Most men mite not even remember these:

OQO Model 2

Sony Vaio UX180p

I had the Sony, it ran full windows, performance was good for the time. But the sony cost something like 2 grand, and the OQO was like 2600~3000$

The reason those products didnt last long is obvious, 1. They were running Vista, 2. Battery life sucked for such small devices, 3. Yea....expensive lol.
I still have the sony in ah draw somewhere, complete with docking station and the whole nine. Hmmmm, I wonder how windows 8.1 go run on it boy, HHHMMMMMMMMM. Drivers mite be an issue, ill see...

Great to see though that now u can have the same experience and portability @ a 200$ price point.

Exactly.

Those devices existed but at impractical price points. There was one used for barcode scanning and inventory management in warehouses as well (I forgot the make and model) but it was ludicrously expensive.

Since back in Windows XP days.

This is the first time I am seeing a reasonably priced model that delivers the full windows experience in such a small form factor.

Smartphone Touchscreen Latencies

http://appglimpse.com/blog/touchmarks-i-smart-phone-touch-screen-latencies/

Regardless of the reasons, the conclusion is clear: the best written apps on iPhones will simply feel more responsive than similar apps on the current gen of Android devices. (We speculate this might be a major reason why the iPhone keyboard generally feels better than the Android keyboard to many people.)

Most developers are unaware of this latency inherent in touchscreens, leading them to often dramatically underestimate the end-to-end latency of their apps. For example, if the app is calling out to the network to respond to a touch event, achieving an end-to-end latency of under 80 milliseconds is unrealistic (not even counting app processing time), even on an iPhone. Our suggestion is to add the device’s MART score to the app’s internally calculated response time to approximate the app’s end-to-end latency.

BlackBerry Messenger to hit Android, iOS this weekend

http://www.zdnet.com/blackberry-messenger-to-hit-android-ios-this-weekend-7000020874

BlackBerry has quelled rumours around when BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) will arrive on Android and iOS, committing to releasing it over the weekend.

Earlier in the week, Samsung Nigeria let the news leak on Twitter that BBM would be available on its devices from September 20. That appears to have been a day off, with BlackBerry today confirming that BBM will be available on Android on September 21 and iPhone on September 22.

BBM For Android Leaked Apk Surfaces Online
http://www.ubergizmo.com/2013/09/bbm-for-android-leaked-apk-surfaces-online/

It has already been announced that BlackBerry Messenger for iOS and Android is going to be released this weekend. Nevertheless, a BBM for Android leaked APK has shown up online. Unlike previous leaks, this one appears to be fully functional. The official release is slated for September 21st on the Google Play Store, iOS users will have to wait just one additional day to get the once BlackBerry exclusive instant messaging client on their iPhones.: http://www.ubergizmo.com/2013/09/bbm-for-android-leaked-apk-surfaces-online/
