given the net connectivity of these devices and the amount of important personal data you are likely to store on them....are you guys really comfortable running a custom rom designed by a guy named "darky"?

lol

Lol indeed, but it running so bess. I'd recommend Rockplayer for xvid/divx playback, ended up getting an acquired version from the Torrentoplex down the road.

As for data usage, yeah these Android phones can use a good chunk of data. Hope tstt doh ever start to enforce data limits :s

Moonlight jus integrated d unlocker into d Rom, so once u finish flash, juss plug in yuh phones and start installing apps. I even have ah multiapp installer. So highlight 100 apps, click Go, gone shit, come back, talk done.

Still do alot of registry keys on my own doh.

u know... being cooked ain't nothing special... its just customized/tweaked/hacked to that specific users preference.

if you know what you want and know how to do it, you don't need to get another guy's "cooked" rom...

i just dont understand the notion that as soon as something's cooked its automatically better lol...

so what me and messiaah saying is, we cook our own roms, with the right amount of salt, pepper, seasoning etc that we want...

but i have nothing against using cooked rooms, but dont use a cooked rom and automatically feel you on top of the game...

Paranoid much? :P

I'm sure if there was an issue with any given ROM, someone would have made mention on XDA by now.

Well if said cooked ROM offers something the stock one doesn't...shouldn't it be 'better'?

What if I cannot be bothered to as you say: 'cook our own roms, with the right amount of salt, pepper, seasoning etc that we want... '

If you have nothing worthwhile to contribute to the thread, then just don't post in it, instead
of spamming it up with a setta WP7 diatribe.  How bout that?

If you spending 4hrs and 3 firmware updates to get a specific rom on ur phone, dont see d big deal in spending d extra time to tweak yuh stuff justt right wihtout having d extra bloat dat usualy comes with cooked roms. D time i spending to remove d bloat i coulda cook it mehself.

But anyways, to each his own, i always thought cooked roms were for noobs :)

lol man... first of all i didnt mention anything about wp7... so that say something about you, unless u referring to my video.. in which case all i want to see is your results of the time trials... cuz android is a beast so it would be nice to see :)

secondly i did say i have no problem with cooked roms...
just don't feel like you on top of the world cuz you have one... or feel that having a cooked rom automatically means you have something better than someone else... cuz the next person couldve cooked their OWN rom to suit their own purposes and it may indeed be better than your cooked rom...

i also wanted to highlight that flashing somebody else's rom is nothing technical or advanced, cookin your won rom is :)....

ok I didn't mean to get caught up in your hissy fits cuz obviously from what I've seen here you're in desperate need of attention ......anyways .... you obviously don't know the meaning of cooked I'm not talking about tweaking the registry I'm talking abt combining parts of different ROMS not MODS..... ROMS  if u use one stock rom it doesn't matter how much cabs you install or how much registry keys you modify or change or which kernels u decide to use @ the end of the day its still a tweaked STOCK ROM...

Should have been clearer by ROMS i meant elements from differing OS's limiting to WM6-6.5.X the build of the OS itself eg completely reworking things like how the OS handles msging,i.e. incorporating diff versions of sense/manila all radio's power consumption an optimization with the base OEM package etc. because you cant customize these things after installing on your device

anyway i clearly stated what i meant in my post i didn't need to as u think "cook" my own rom because everything he put together was what i wanted in the first place it would be stupid to go an do it again for myself with the same "ingredients" not so ?

anything a cooked rom have, u can do urself eh. and not limited to juss reg tweaks. if u know how, u dont need a cooked rom. d same way d chef taking parts of other roms and integrating it into his own is d same way any modder can do it. in d end, every cooked rom is essentially a stock rom with tweaks, weather those tweaks originate from another rom or not. and if cooked have exactly wat yuh want then yes, does seem a bit pointless redoing d work yuhself. but dat depends on d person too. If i coulda pay d same amount of money, to buy my beast pc fully built ready to go, id still choose to build it myself. juss for d fun of it :)

To each his own.

lawd a mercy... for the last time.. i said its ok if you used cooked roms didnt i...

secondly... lol.. thanks for explaining that you really dont know what a cook rom.. or a rom for that matter is...

but i'll make it simple.. from xda our favorite devlopers:

Cooked

Refers to ROMs which have been modified and optimised by users to offer better performance than a carrier ROM or a release by Microsoft. Cooked ROMs can be found in the wiki pages.

i hope you realise the biggest difference between roms are:

registry and other settings
installed appz
different radio's etc
drivers etc

lol @ cooking = combining 2 roms... go get a basic understanding of what a rom is and how it works then come back nah man... lawdy

let me explain it to you another way doh...

look @ a pre-packaged HP laptop, it will come with all hp branded appz, 30 day av trials etc, hp drivers (thats HP's "Rom")
then look at base microsoft os (that is a stock "rom")
then look at the guy that take a base os, install it on his pc and tweak the hell out of it to make it high performance, install his own drivers and appz. and then create a image of it (thats a cooked "rom")

u following now?

^^ rofl.

And is not hijackign eh, we talking bout roms in general, not wp7.
Same arguments apply to android roms.

I think the bottom line is, custom roms arent all they are cracked up to be for anybody dat "knows" what they are doing. And the ability to use/flash a custom rom does not make ur device d best, or make you more techie than the rest :)

p.s. my sister bf flashed his HD2 with a custom rom, and he is no way near techy lol.
Even capt awesome is more techie than him (low blow). ok ok sorry nah, doh drain meh chackra, rofl.

How to root a Nook Color to transform it into an Android tablet
By Ryan Paul | Last updated about 5 hours ago

Barnes and Noble launched the Nook Color last year with the aim of enabling a more interactive user experience and tighter Web integration than conventional e-book readers. The device's color touchscreen and assortment of Internet-enabled applications help differentiate it from Amazon's increasingly ubiquitous Kindle.

The Nook Color is an intriguing product, but its most compelling feature isn't listed on the box. Beneath the e-book reader facade, the Nook Color runs Google's powerful Android mobile operating system. Barnes and Noble intends to eventually expose more of the Nook's Android functionality to end users in future updates, but Android enthusiasts have already gotten a head start.

In this article, we will explain how to "root" the Nook Color so that its software environment can be customized. We will also evaluate the Nook Color's suitability as a low-cost tablet computer and discuss third-party applications that are particularly useful on the device.

Now he has an Android tablet that can pretty much do everything the more expensive
Samsung Galaxy Tab can do, except the GSM and bluetooth stuff.
