Endomondo Pro is on sale. This app uses GPS to track various sports such as running and cycling. Regular Price $3.99 on sale for 99 cents. I bought it a while back and use it everyday to track my running progress. One good thing is that it doesn't need an active data connection when in use, you can let it sync up via wifi when you get home....

Do u run and cycle with the note? I used to run with it in my pocket but it gets to you after a while. Do you have like an arm band or something?

I used to run with my Ipod Nano. Fantastic. So small you hardly know its there.

But decided to try the "one ring" approach with the android. Going to use it for exercise duty as well.

Sport style Stereo bluetooth headphones and an arm band.

http://www.amazon.com/iArmbands-Sport-Armband-Google-Nexus/dp/B004XVNAHW/

Two reasons

1) The nexus, while low profile and comfortable enough in jeans, isn't a good fit in track pants and short pants

2) It has been often said that bluetooth headphones get better reception off an arm band when outdoors as there are less reflective surfaces near you.

No I use my Samsung Galaxy Player 3.6 all my purchased apps download to it as well. I'm happy with it since if I got an ipod touch I would have had to buy apps all over again. I use it with bt headphones no problem.

You can get those arm cases but I prefer to run without my phone.

As for the 6 generation nano my wife uses one with an iwatchz wristband, very useful. The Nike plus software that's built in is pretty accurate when used with the pedometer.

I'm confused.

You dont run with any device? Or do you run with the Samsung Galaxy Player?

If so, I think the question is do you keep it in a pocket?

I don't like running with my cellphone so I don't take my Galaxy Note with me when running. I use the Galaxy player for my running and use bt stereo headphones to listen to music and get automatic voice updates from Endomondo (distance/avg. speed etc.)

The galaxy player is small enough at 3.6 inches so it is fine in my pocket.

ah, so you do run with it in your pocket. Was wondering.

Still find 3.6" a bit big to carry. Coming from my 1.5" ipod nano which would literally clip on to your clothing.

Even the blackberry bold felt too awkward for jogging. Used to hold it in my hand the rare times I took it on the trail/savannah.

Will let you guys know how the arm band works out with the nexus next week.

Hopefully its just as comfortable as the nano.

Agreed, my wife uses this accessory http://www.iwatchz.com/

I don't mind the player 3.6 in my pocket. Wanted to stay on the android platform to keep my apps if I ever want to use it for things other than music. For example if I want to extend monitoring on Endomondo beyond running speeds/times I could get a bt heart rate monitor to link up to it as well.

Some interesting news for the Droid 4.

http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-4-hacks/207075-finally-gsm-droid-4-works.html

Apparently hackers have been able to get GSM going on this handset after all.

A welcome development for anyone looking for a modern ICS capable Droid with a physical keyboard. As the Droid 4 is one of the last of those particular mohicans.

Official GSM support is coming with no "official" eta from Verizon. So this hack is the only game in town for the near future.

Personally, when the legit update to enable GSM is out, I might consider it. Touch keyboard on the Galaxy Nexus isn't bad but still jones'in for the real thing.

Don't know how I existed without this app...

Airdroid

You basically connect and manage your Android device right from your browser...

Needless to say...this app is VERY boss.
Now you can almost completely 'cut the cable'...well...except for those really large file-transfers of course.

Yeah it decent, simple with no need for root though I've had issues logging into it sometimes. For just drag and drop file copying I prefer samba (root required).

Samba caused my phone to freeze, and the app crashed frequently.  Other users/devices may not have that issue however.

Oh I forgot to tell yall about Avast Mobile Security. As I mentioned earlier my brother in law's Galaxy Ace was stolen recently. We got him another one and I installed Avast on it. It works quite well for Anti Theft purposes with a stealth mode that prevents the thief from seeing the application running in the background. What I like most about it is that it works via sms commands so you simply send text messages to the phone to get replies on where it is etc. Very extensive command list.

What about if the thief removes the SIM card you may ask? It automatically emails/texts you the new sim cards phone number and can send you all their contacts as well.
