Would have gladly snapped up two 6870's instead of 460's but poor crossfire support make them loose this customer.

explain that...

cuz i been using cf with no issues... maybe cuz i more midrange i dont see issues?

Crossfire doesn't work for 50% of users in bc2 (among other games), just check guru3d forums. Unfortunatey I was one of them. Their solution was to disable crossfire which is totally unacceptable.

Also had other issues with blue screens with crossfire enabled when playing back video in IE and chrome. Disabling fixed the issue but again, unacceptable.

Also got driver crashes when playing back any type of video in wmp. Guess what, disabling crossfire fixed it.

Last but not least, nvidia image quality in normal 2d mode as well as 3d is 10x better than I could ever get ATI to display on my 40' tv.

All these issues persisted across FOUR driver iterations and as far as I understand, nothing eh change with 10.10.

Bottom line, amd have plenty plenty work to do for them to get my money again. Crossfire customers being treated like 2nd and 3rd class citizens in ATI book.

I must be able to walk in forums and see all smiles, not half the ppl happy and half cussin.

ok i guess is a case by case bases...
cuz i havnt ever had a crash in any game... i don't play bfbc2 doh.. which i heard is notorious to support the green camp neways lol idk...
and well i have my setup on a 32" TV alone with the 24" and 19" no issues...

guess i was lucky to be in the good 50% lol.. but as usual i aint really care if is red or green... i say go where u getting what you want yes... green seem to be working excellent for u... but you aint get to test the SLI yet right?

Case by case is right. Very strange business.

Havent tested SLI myself yet but based on forum readings, I am seeing very little problems compared to crossfire so I do not anticipate many problems (if any)

Apart from my issues the experience was not as bad as others. The TV showed reasonably well on 1080p and I was happy with that but switching to that nvidia card improve quality 10 fold. Classic case of 'didnt know what I was missing'

Like I said, im definitely not going to give up on ATI totally, just giving them a lil rest, enough time to wash the bitter taste from my mouth.

Awesome, what resolution did you have your screen, games set at? Seeing some people having issues with  2560x1600 in crossfire configs, but none at lower.

And on d crossfire issue, my games and machine running good, i on 10.9 i think, installed via steam.
Seems to be working out pretty well. dat 10.9 helped out my sc2 significantly too.

Im gaming at 2560*1600.

yea, it sucks, Nvidia and dey gay power consumption, and ati and randomly flaky drivers.

Is it too much to ask to get properly working hardware after spending 5-600$ behind GPUs?

LOL. If d price of dat 6970 good, i mite swipe one yes, and either put my 5970 up for sale, or juss leave it in d machien and add d 69 to it. Price/Perfomrance of d 69 go tell.

I'm here still pondering what my future gpu will be (the current one is fine) I just need to ensure I have more than on gpu due to no onboard video on my mobo.

Been looking at the reviews of the 6850 1gb and correct me if I'm wrong, the overclocked versions are on par or even a lil better than the 460 1gb in SOME instances but I only need ONE card that isn't a POWER WHORE that creates more HEAT that a damn oven...that isn't too NOISY (yes I am hard to please lol)

The 6850 1gb seem to satisfy some but still losing to the 460 1gb in other areas....

Check anandtech's review of some 6850's http://www.anandtech.com/show/4002/amd-radeon-hd-6850-overclocking-roundup-asus-xfx-msi

The prices are pretty sweet but I dunno bout ati's drivers.....then again nvidia has it's share of probs... :ko:

Its really a tough choice, red, both the 6850 and 460 has excellent overclock potential, both performing almost the same at stock and both around the same exact price.

This is the review you're gonna want to read to determine which games are more important to you because they both win some and loose some. win/win lol.

When it comes to multi gpu, though, I absolutely cannot recommend ATI because of my experiences. Nvidia by comparison has been a walk in the park compared to ati. Still get crashes here and there with games like bc2 but thats more to do with the game itself rather than the drivers.

However, if you plan on sticking to single gpu, best thing to do is read that article and make a choice. Its a dead heat between the two.

hmm.. well i was really liking dual 460-768mb cuz @ $165 the value absolutely cannot be beat... and it will run all my stuff just fine...

problem is i would have to transition to i7... which is sooner than i wanted to but i'm wondering if the 6850's would be a better fit in the interim

decisions decisions... sigh!!!

At this point, its somewhat of a coin toss between the 6850 and 460.

I for one, would like to take a hop, skip and a jump over that tier and onto the 6870.  The only 460 that is on par with it is the EVGA 1GB FTW edition, and its almost the same price too.  The caveat of course, is the power consumption.  Just imagine the power draw in SLI.  :(  No thanks.  6870 (x2) FTW yes.  Crossfire has been good to me.  Its only Bad Company 2 does play up in he muddas c@#t when he ready.

Nah hoss, the gf104 is the same as the hd6870 in terms of power consumption. Another dead heat (pardon the pun)

Good luck in that bc2 in crossfire though. Seeing as plenty new maps coming out for it, I certainly wish you luck.

Think I goin with the Gtx 460 1gb, only prob which one from evga.....they always have so many damned versions and that FTW 460 really does pack a serious punch but I'll stick with a normal 1gb version.

Not sure if they're gonna have a black Friday sale this week but I loaded up my vtm today and will be watching amazon like a hawk to nab a card if the price is right

Looking at the benchmarks in that review they.
I not impressed with d 580.
2 6850 going for 400$ on amazon right now.

And outperforming d 580, @ less power draw and less heat, and less noise, for less money :S

muchless fuh d 6870, den 6970 , den 6990.

Nvidia Ass is Grass

Ill be holding out for d 6990 doh., ent make sense upgrading from what i have to anything else really.

And CF has treat me well also. Haven't place BC2 in ah while so doh know bout that, but when i was playing it, i din really have no issues with CF.

I installed ah driver through steam ah while back, thing wokkin bess.
Steam install for me right through now.

Things not looking too rosy in the AMD camp. Looks like they seriously loosing that price war they trying to wage against nvidia.

Forget about 6970 coming out @ anything less than $650, maybe even $700, good god.

Right now, gtx460/sli>6850 @ $400 price point, not to mention beating the 6870 half the time which is now a whole $70 more than the 460.

560, same config ftw when it comes out, as long as its @ $300 or not much higher a pop will absolutely crush AMD with performance similar to that of the 480.
