Devil May Cry 5 ..... aka DmC: Devil May Cry

Heavenly Sword developer Ninja Theory is rebooting the Devil May Cry series for Capcom, highlighting the publisher's announcements Wednesday at the Tokyo Game Show.

The Cambridge, England-based Ninja Theory is the first Western studio to work on Devil May Cry. The game, titled simply "Devil May Cry," is a reimagining of Capcom's long-running series (not to mention Dante, as you can see in the screen below). It's set against a contemporary backdrop where the line between good and evil isn't clear. Though a reimagining, Devil May Cry's combat remains a mix of sword and gunplay.



Ninja Theory's chief of design Tameem Antoniades heads up creative direction for the game, working with Hedeaki Itsuno, who's had a hand in all of the previous four Devil May Cry games. Capcom's Japanese and North American branches are coproducing the game.

A lot of people already hating the game for making Dante look the way he does. But I don't know, it might turn out good. What do you guys think?

YES! Fresh breath of air is one thing, but kinda mixed on emo-zombie dante

He doesn't look as impressive or cool as he looked before, more survival-horror-ish and seemingly smoking obsessed heh.

But gameplay is where it will win out, if it's almost the same as the previous DMCs (excluding 2 >_>) then should be a great game.

Ehhh, will probably need a great storyline to justify the "re-imagining" as well.

Ever since DMC 2 was released the series to me has headed in a downward spiral in terms of quality. Soooo DMC5? Show me something new CAPCOM.

I don't mind eh BUT just so they drop this bombshell on us?!?! A lot of ppl was expecting it to take up where 4 left off. We'll see but i like the traditional Dante better.

You're the first person I 've heard say that. DMC3 IMO was very cool and DMC4 equally dread. Over than the drastic change of the main character's look, I see no reason why DMC5 will be any less cool.

There is next to nothing out on the story thus far, but I do have a theory on what it could roughly be about. When I consider the trailer which makes mention of "Heaven and Hell," and the artwork which notes a place known as "Limbo City," I can only assume the story is set in purgatory.

Ok they could've at least made his hair spiked. That would be much better imo.

Looks way too skinny to look cool or threatening. 3 was the series peak so far, 4 felt more like a update to 3 than anything else. Bayonetta is really devil may cry 4

Just think of this as an alternate version of Dante in a diff continuity. Worked for me at least

They could have even gone with this being a next kid or even a completely different series, for the most part making a character unrecognisable from what people know has not gone down well imo.

Ppl chill as it is we dunno jack about the game other than it's a reboot. Can't judge a book by it's cover so wait and see. Who knows, maybe they somehow add references to the other games in it (who knows what they hiding).

The shape-shifting sword seems pretty cool though. I hope they keep the Rebellion (if it's there at all) design close to the original at least.

I'm wondering if they're gonna give him the 'Tony Redgrave' name as his actual name and make 'Dante' his alter-ego in-his-head self. You know, like "My name...is Neo!" type thing.

the gameplay hadda come RELLLLLLLL good to justify da change, not liking the character at all.

with the exception of DMC 2 the series has been badass
3 was wicked , 4 was ok not terrible but not as dread as 3 imo

Not really feeling this Dante... way too wimpy looking when i saw the trailer.. He doesn't ooze the bada$$-ness and self confidence he's known for in the previous titles.. but then again this is just a trialer..i cud be wrong.. but still even the trailers for the other titles showcased his swagger in dealing with his enemies... ruthless but frakin cool no less.
