I wonder how good this piece of hardware will be? I've see some keyboard/mouse adapters for console before but this one claims to give the same level of accuracy that you would get if the game was on PC. Interesting, could give those preferring keyboard/mouse more slaugterage on PS3 :p

Eagle-Eye aims to give PS3 owners the same level of accuracy in controls enjoyed by PC gamers

Penguin United will soon be launching a new product known as "Eagle-Eye" which will allow PS3 owners to seamlessly use standard keyboard and mouse for playing fps games with the same accuracy and dexterity as enjoyed by PC gamers. Many console gamers might argue otherwise but this seems like a welcome alternative for PC gamers looking to get some action on console exclusive games with familiar controls for a few extra bucks.

Check out the demonstration video below

Richard Huang, President of Penguin United said,

One of the drawbacks with playing first-person shooters is the lack of speed and accuracy offered by traditional controllers. We found a simple solution by bypassing the controller and transferring the button features directly to the computer keyboard and mouse. The Eagle-Eye offers an amazing alternative for fans of shooting games.
One of the most impressive features about the Eagle-Eye is the accuracy and effectiveness converted to the computer mouse, with a 1 to 1 translation from a PS3 controller to the mouse.

Product Highlights:
+ Converts any standard USB HID Keyboard and Mouse into a PS3 Controller
+ Adjust Mouse sensitivity through the game's option menu.
+ 1 to 1 translation from the PS3 right analog stick to the mouse movement for an ultra accurate aim in FPS.
+ Maps out all PS3 buttons and left analog stick via included software to customize your control. Right analog stick defaults to mouse movement.
+ Compatible with all PS3 games.
+ USB 2.0 Keyboard and Mouse inputs.
+ 2 ft. USB cable connects to PS3.
+ Turbo option for X, triangle, square, circle, L1, L2, R1, R2 buttons
+ Programmable Macro Functions to turn any single key into a combination of moves.
+ Compatible with all PS3 console versions, future proof with firmware updates.
+ Quick, easy set up in less than 1 minute with included software
+ SRP: $59.99

I already have one for my 360. Only use it with Halo ODST but still....

Also had one for my original xbox

The keyboard/mouse adapters are highly recommended for old school PC fps aficionados.

Even if it isn't 100% smooth as a native PC keyboard/mouse its helluva lot better than using those controllers.

If I get any major FPS titles for the PS3, this going in the shopping cart one time.

Mainly play platforms and fighters on it at the moment.

Well...people like myself who play FPS games primarily on PC are already at a disadvantage using a console controller.  I think this will 'even' the playing field real nicely.  :)

If it works as good as they say, then I'll be the first one to invest in a lot more FPSes for the PS3

How you figure, zen. This will definitely be a "pro" in my list for the question I pose to myself...'Get a ps3 or not?', for purposes other than media streaming/blu ray playback.

is all about what you accustomed to...
for pc men who accustomed to using mouse all they life.. goin to a controller for fps is like learning another language... i.e. is extremely difficult...
if you've been using a controller for fps all the time.. they going to use a mouse for that same game would be just as difficult... so it's all up to what ur used to imo

Whilst i've alway leaned on the idea that the BEST K&M FPS player is better than the BEST Controller FPS player, I think honestly the console men (myself included) have enough skill to hold our own against a K&M on the console. So bring it on I say. If all a sudden we notice a DRAMATIC increase in loss rates against such men we have 2 options, stop playing dem men or raise de bar. Of course we'd raise de bar first.

there is one particularly big fly in the ointment that ought be mentioned.

AA or Aim Assistance.

In all of its many forms. (whether its deceptively large hit boxes, splash or actual snapping of your reticule to a nearby target)

Console games are full of 'em. They exist precisely because of how inaccurate those controllers are.

Were it not for that, the keyboard and mouse players would WTFpwn.

Thanks to AA, the playing field is still somewhat level....so that a proficient gamer with the xbox 360 pad could keep pace with a keyboard and mouse gamer.

Some new entries in the "keyboard and mouse adapter for consoles" arena.

lol, like you forgot that I've been beating up controller weilding halo scrubs with my SmartJoyFrag since 2005?

A distant predecessor to the new generation of keyboard/mouse adapters for consoles features in this thread.

Still got it as well as my Max Shooter for the 360 (who comes up with these names? lol)

They don't work perfectly but that's where the XIM3 comes in. Near perfection if the XIM2's legacy is any indication.
