First Official XBMC Remote, Wyatt, i think we have a WINNER!

"....The remote also has a gyroscope so that it knows which side is up and disables the buttons on the other side. " - Brilliant.

meh. too thick and needs more buttons IMO. why no record button? when they release version 11.0 with PVR support, won't we be needing one?

Unfortunately at the moment u have no choice.
It only have 2 good keyboard/remotes out there.

Tivo Slide, and This.
I own d slide, its good, but not perfect, and d primary arrow keys dont repeat.

Id love to get my hands on a keyboard/remote dat natively works wiht xbmc, and i think i see a trackpad on dat one as well.

The hysteron proteron that Puttenham noted relates to similar phrases from Greek authors. In grammatical terms a hysteron proteron is a figure of speech in which the thing that should come second is put first. For example, 'putting on one's shoes and socks'. This may be done for literary effect of simply without thought. This form is extended into more general use in phrases like the 2nd century Greek satirist Lucian's 'the cart draws the ox', or Theocritus' 'the hind hunts the dogs'.

Various other phrases that refer to things being the opposite of what they rightfully should be are found in English, notably "the tail is wagging the dog".

My hometheatre setup is a simple one,
32" LCDHDTV 1080 p from Insignia
and a Panasonic 5.1 Surround sound system
4 HDMI ports.
Wont win any awards, but its pretty damn good for a bachelor. :)

the 5.1 surround sound system is DVD/CD/Radio/ipod Dock/aux. Not too shabby. Can get pretty loud (never allowed to still living @ home) But its great for dem movies. ipod dock is perfect if i went through the effort of installing it in a room for a party.

Well it not thicker than a full keyboard and mouse, lol. That's what I currently use.

And maybe you can set one of the buttons to do the record function?

Now that I think about it though....I also use my HTPC system to run PC games in the living room so might not be able to get rid of that regular size wireless keyboard after all.

Could hardly play a game of League of Legends with a remote control. lol

Forget Bose though, much better equipment can be had for the same amt of money or less.

Nah i wont say forget bose. We've got a lifestyle system that we bought referbished and its not even the newest version. It's got four things going for it

1. RF remote - "look ma no wires or Infrared" ... Great battery life 4AAA lasted like 8months, reception I've controlled the setup from down the street and in my neighbours home across the road...

2. Pretty well done music clarity although HIFi rigs men have here will easily put it to shame.

3. Simplicity, at a cost of about 10,000$TT a couple years ago. It can't be beaten. Not only does it auto setup itself within the space its placed, something that newer players now attempt to do but it also plays dvd's and control other equipment in the setup like tv and cable box by its built in IR blaster or the extension IR. Oh before i forget it can supports/controls multi room setups as well.

So for say, normal people or parents, placing a headset on your head and letting it self calibrate to the room and no need to match and choose the best speaker to amplifiers, etc. THen pressing play and hearing mid-high quality sound... Cant be beat, well maybe, except by ONkyo nearly a decade later

I agree that Bose has its places somewhere about, the ir blasters and all that is nice, and you cant beat its simplicity

But don't think the price is a bargain, its expensive for what you actually get,

we took apart a lifestyle system in one of the stores i shop at, that thing had some of the cheapest speaks i have ever seen, and that sub  :shakehead:, they should have called that an echo boom box. Boss must make 200% mark up on them systems, all the R&D must have gone into features and not speaker hehe

Your right on the audio quality compared to some of the hi fi rigs on here, there is no comparison, but i wont exactly say Bose produces mid/high quality, its "aite" when compared to others

Recently added some stuff to my room setup.

New Stuff
32" LG 32LD450 TV - For gaming, so far can't tell the difference between it and my evo monitor.
Micca Play HD - For non-netflix stuff
PS3 - To play God of War 3 mainly and the occassional MVC3. Overall I prefer the 360 for netplay
HDMI Switch - To switch between various HDMI devices on a single HDMI port on TV.

Old Stuff
X-530 - Don't really use this much again
Xbox 360 - Main gaming system + Netflix
Hauppauge HDPVR - Record gaming stuff from PS3/360
HDFURY2 - To convert HDMI from PS3 to component for video capture.
HDMI Splitter - Splits HDMI signal into two signals without loss of quality.

rb, as you mention netflix, do you use it? as i not in US i is use this services called unblock-us to make netflix work, it's ah simple DNS rerouting service, but it not to friendly with dynamic IPs as when meh IP change i have to go on a web browser to validate, then my devices(TV, Blue ray player etc) start working again, is ah hassle so was looking for another solution that don't involve any VPNs or anything

assumign you in TT or outside the US and use netflex,w hats your solution?

IsMe the solution you use is the one I and most ppl on this forum use. Yes when your ip changes you have to log back on the webpage to validate your account, a small sacrifice imo and honestly my ip changes so rarely its not a prob.

cool, yeah it look like the best solution so far, my problem is i got 2 ISPs and a load balancer so now and again based on which line the traffic go over i is have to be validating right true, i go have to live with it for now and just keep a line disabled
