Starcraft will always be a favorite for me. Nostalgia is a big reason. Another is so many quotes in the game are from classic sci fi movies

"Were in the pipe five by five" - ALIENS

"Hang on, were in for some chop" - ALIENS

"By your command"- Battlestar Galactica

How do i get out of this chickensh!t outfit - ALIENS (not i quotes cant remember the real one, it was based on this line though

Myself I like Rise of Nation, Starcraft, Warcraft3, (now start) Command and Conquer

But The best for me is Warcraft3 even though I now start to play it

The best ever stratergy games are easily the command and conquer series, all strategy games by blizzard entertainment( warcraft, starcraft), and the commandos series

civilization III..

Best strat game. might not be most fun, but best STRATEGY game

RA 2 is actually quite lame compared to newer games, even with the expansion
the units aren't balanced and the units available to build seems too little

empire games are too much resource collecting too be much fun
but the main problem with them is the civs aren't unique (a pikeman is a pikeman more or less)
galactic battlegrounds & clone campaigns just have different skins per race

sc and wc are good but map resources run out and that bores (me) a bit
but the uniqueness of the races is coooool

generals (zero hour) is my favorite as you can concentrate on battle tactics, you have a variety of different armies to choose from, and different ways to win,

We can only deal with what is, not what has not come as yet....so SC2 is out.

Currently, I give my vote to AOE series and Warcraft.
