Just came back from Imax and all I have to say is......WOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWOMGWOW!

Enjoyed every fracking minute of it. Can't dissect it and talk about each part because I would get too excited and stop, yes it was that good.

The most comicbooky of all the Nolan Batman films and that ending....THE ENDING.....phew. The comicbook nerd in me flew all the way up to the roof.

Well done Christopher Nolan, you crafty bastard :D

I can't wait to see what he does with Superman

^^ Tbh his role is minimal there.

It goes something like this- David Goyer told Nolan about his concept for a different take on the character which Nolan like so he pitched it to the studio. Then helped them select a director after which he left to work on TDKR. Everything thereafter is all Snyder and Goyer but rest assured if Nolan liked it so much to get a Superman movie off the ground it ain't crap :D

Back on topic though.....that first encounter still resonates in my head and it's been two days. Second viewing soon.

ALSO I thought this was brilliant of Nolan.

agree with zerk, a firm 8 trapped helpless police officers out of 10

Good movie, but felt it could have been greater.

Bane was brutal but did not eclipse Joker imo

But for the record the fights looked fine to me, could see the calculated moves. Want more agility based fights hope "The Batman" in 2016 decides to use those.

Watch The Raid, then watch Batman, then watch The Raid, then back to batman, now watch The Raid again!

lol

That is epic choreography. Batman vs Bane was a slugfest.

But I hear you on his arrogance. It's like batman wanted to slug it out.

As opposed to using his wits and tools. Silly, when you consider the fate of the city is hanging in the balance.

Good thing Cat Woman had no such hang ups.

The Raid was the furthest thing from my mind while watching this.

That kinda choreography would not work for the same reasons I stated.  It just won't man.

Not the same. I mean epic choreography.

The Raid = Epic Fight Choreography

Batman = Non Epic Fight Choreography

If they could have gotten the Batman fights up to an epic level, the movie would have gone from an 8 to a 10 imo.

Yes the Raid had great fight choreography but at the same time choreography is built around the fighting style used and pencak silat is wild enough so that they could do those things.

Selina was there as a wildcard, i.e. you don't know what she would do next, not afraid to get nasty etc.

Bane didn't trump the Joker but it was menacing to watch and proved a more than worthy foe for Batman.

Grenades would be a little too messy for Bane. While he is brutal he also needs things to be controlled and co-ordinated.

While those complaints you have are reasonable they would be  more valid if this were just simply an action movie which it isn't. It's understandable those are things you wanted but at the end of the day this is what it really is man. Complaints about the action scenes have been few and far between.

Not like I'm saying the movie was rubbish, its a solid 8 out of 10

Just some extra effort into the fight scenes could have taken it over the top to flush 10 out of 10

I'll give you another example. That superman movie recently, Superman vs the Elite. epic fights!

And that's a cartoon.

Even the fights in the Batman games I've played on xbox were better to be honest.

They didn't drop the ball, the fights were decent....but they weren't a high point for the movie. To make it go over the top.

Like a rock lee vs gaara kind of square off.

Clash of the ages.

Not saying your opinion of the movie was it being rubbish I just think the emphasis on the fights being better was a lil too much. I mean Nolan films aren't exactly known for their extravagantly choreographed fights or action scenes but he outdid himself here.

Comparing a cartoon fight to a real world fight isn't that fair if you ask me since.....toons  can throw caution to the wind and I mean......that is Superman, if his fights were tepid then something would be wrong.

See? :D Idk but I think we beat this into the ground hoss lol.  In the end everybody has different views and I respect yours. For me I couldn't stop replaying those fights in my head days after I saw it.

That being said, hold out for Man Of Steel.  Snyder might have what you're looking for with his Zod vs Superman scene.

Oh don't you dare play the "but that's a cartoon card"! lol

Look at what they did in Avengers. Epic beyond epic. Now THAT was a 10 out of 10 film.

I'll look out for that superman vs zod battle on the big screen, hopefully that will hit the spot for a combat sequence. (pun intended)

Comparing The Avengers to Batman is like apples and oranges, so different but the same in a way that they are all heroes but The Avengers consisted of super powered beings. Even Stark in his suit to an extent because it shot lasers, rockets, flight i.e did almost everything.  Bats is still just a guy in an armored suit but I do want a more comicbook fight with my Batman but it just couldn't work in context to Nolan's version of Batman.

While some may be sad that this is his last, I actually cannot wait for the new franchise to start. That will surely be a more comicbook fare and then some to separate itself from Nolan. Boi I drained now lol, I leaving it as it is now lol.

One thing I definitely won't miss is Bale's horrible rendition of Batman's voice.

Totally agree with Kevin Conroy's diss. As the voice of batman from the animated series, he knows a thing or two about how batman should sound.

I had no problem with it :P

As much as I like Conroy since I like many grew up on that series I am kinda tired of it.  I mean some ppl like Keaton, some like Kilmer (yes there are ppl) and some like Bale. Nolan's Batman was more about Bruce expelling his own anger  so he sounds pissed of half the time and I like that.

I doubt anyone liked george clooney's rendition though. that was AWFUL.

Have to agree with Archer here, none of the previous movies had any epic 'Raid style' choreography, so I didn't go in expecting that. It might have taken away from the Nolan's brand of filming imo. His focus was always on the narrative, ambiance and characters.
