A sad day indeed. :( I didn't have these problems on Bad Company 2.
Granted...they're different games, but damn...I'm no stranger to COD,
so I don't know what the missing link is here.

I mean, I'm not a l33t level player on you guys' level, but I should still
be able to shoot some people. Steupsss.  I actually did better in Medal Of Honor.

I'm disappointed...really, REALLY disappointed thus far. :(

So far, I've tried opening the relevant port, but no dice.  The game still
runs like a stop-motion animation at times.  FRAPS is LYING to me about that 60 fps.

I'm going to reinstall DirectX (as suggested on Steam forums) to see if things improve.....

arc, did you try closing every thing? and I do mean everything.

mp3 player, all your browser windows, torrents, big brazilian booty 4, etc....

If I only have mumble and blackops running, it plays smooth.

If I leave on any other applications, its lag galore. Blackops seems to not like sharing resources for some reason. On my pc anyway.

Try as I might...I simply cannot reduce/eliminate the stutter/lag.

Its the same thing over and over...I round a corner, see the enemy, raise my gun,
next thing I'm dead.  The killcam shows me never firing a single shot, when I know
I unloaded half a clip.

It even occurs in Combat Training...so something is broken somewhere.
Went back to Bad Company 2 for a little bit...no issues.

...and its not only me.  This game needs fixing...BADLY!!!

I'm sorry but its unplayable (for me) right now.  Its frustrating and demoralizing.  :(
I play these types of games for fun, and I'm not having much of that.

What an absolute waste of 60 US.

I think I'll wait for the Bad Company 2 patch, and Vietnam DLC.

Yeah, game's broken. Unplayable for me too. Only reason I got in SOME matches today was because I did a lot of tweaking...but I shouldn't even have to resort to that. Also annoying are these useless 6MB "updates". Why don't they release a proper 1GB (at least) patch that the game clearly needs?
You have part of my attention - you have the minimum amount.

You have to check and see if it's FPS lag or latency lag you getting. Fraps could also be lying to you about the FPS you're getting, happened to me in MW2.
Try lowering all the ingame video settings to low/off, turn off bullet impact, specular map etc. Everything that can be turned off, turn it off, everything that can be set to Low, lower it.

IF you using a router, try connecting directly to your modem, see if that helps, if that's not an option, try disabling WiFi and make sure you're the only one connected to the router. If still no dice, then.... let somebody make a private match with just you and them, see if you lagging. If you not lagging, have them invite a few other people as well and try again. If you not lagging while about say 8-10 people in the game, then it's latency lag. If that's the case you need to sue your ISP :|

some good advice  there sno.

I agree that we shouldn't have to jump through so many hoops to get the game to work properly when other games run just fine without a hitch.

still arc, sometime tonight lets give sno's suggestions a shot.

I could do the private match thing with ya. Eliminates the server as a variable.

I'm willing to try anything at this point.  I reinstalled the game this morning and it seemed to have a positive effect.

I'll try again later.

lol @ crackers stop n go action.

Yeah, but if the game laggin on arcman and awesome machine, you know its not performance related.

These guys have beastly rigs that could crunch numbers faster than supercomputers of the cold war.

It has to be a blackops thing.

That said, the game is fun enough for me to invest a lil time working around its inadequacies.

Hopefully arc will find a solution and we can get back to beating up on red and w1ntry.

Or...get it on 360 and have much less problems :P Yeah we still get hosts with lag now and then, but it is hardly ever to the point that it is unplayable. More often than not it's silky smooth and nuff bullets passin.

To be quite honest, I think our lag issues are because we are a geographically diverse group (I till in Canada, when most ah d fellas in Trini, and a few in d US), so it becomes more challenging for the game to find a host that suits everyone ping. What usually ends up happening is W1n does end up wit a yellow connection, while most of us have green :P Or, we let w1n host and den redlum does get lag :D

and have our FPS skills rot to the degree of reds?

never!

You make a good point about geographical diversity.

Could be server side lag but we'll soon find out when we test using "private match" mode tonight.

Since that won't involve any server at all and be just peer to peer. Pings shouldn't be an issue once we're on the same ISP.

You stay dey and figure yuh skills go "rot". A truly skilled player would be able to keep pace, regardless. If you lackin in ability to play wit controller and could only keep up wit kb&m, doh ass-ume dat everyone else subpar too :P Talk done.

Good luck wit gettin it workin Arc, hopefully is jes server lag, not that that makes it much more comforting, cuz wha yuh go do, play private match right thru? Madness. I shudder to think if it could be your rig dat d game jes nah like - I remember years back I had an issue where a couple games jes didn't like my mobo jed, had to do BIOS updates an ting before dey would play. D worst is when yuh rig up to mark, or surpassin d recommended specs, an yuh jes cyah play breds.
