Check out the upcoming N8 smartphone from Nokia...

Offiical specs here

Is it wrong to say I want one?

The REAL question is though:  is it BETTER than the N900?

Yeah I've actually been looking at upcoming successors to my current N900. If they can ensure the phone has minimal bugs it would be pretty sweet. Though not enough new features in that to warrant me getting rid of my N900 just yet. I've dealt with Maemo's bugs and quirks but the power of open source really is there, lots of new apps being put together daily by programmers from around the world.

Phones just getting better every year yes. Though the way things going with almost every person I know going Blackberry I may end up jumping ship for BBM.

As for the Maemo platform, I'd say it is evolving. My N900 is on Maemo 5 and "Maemo 6" is now something called Meego. From what I read though it will be ported to the N900 over time.

Unfortunately the N8 first impression wasn't so hot.

http://thenokiablog.com/2010/04/25/nokia-n8-preview-mobile-review/

Though Nokia has responded with a statement that the preview model had older software on it...

http://www.engadget.com/2010/04/27/nokia-says-leaked-n8-has-early-software-shouldnt-be-reviewed/

I do believe though that each maker has some boss phones, yes those HTC HD phones have win, Yes the Nokias have win and I sure those Windows 7 Phones will have win as well. Clearly there is just too much win everywhere :p

Actually to be honest one of the key factors for me when I got my N900 last year was the browser. Now I know that support for flash etc. will be coming to other phones soon however for the past few months I have been enjoying the N900 web browser. It has rendered pretty much every site I have thrown at it just as it would on a pc.

Yea, HTC TouchFlo 3D / Sense, is pretty yes, but it not usefull atal, i does get vex using dat thing, Mobile Shell FTW!, get to shit, fast, easy, and displays alot more useful information onscreen when i turn on meh phone, and my mod takes said information and displays it nice, neat, and proper, plus few extra tweaks, gotta love the battery.

* administers several planass to steer topic back on track *  :whip2:

I've always been a fan of Symbian, and I have no doubt this new iteration (dubbed 'Symbian^3')
will come together quite nicely on this phone.

Thing is though, 3000 TT is my absolute upper limit for a phone, so although I really want this,
I just cannot afford it at 500+ US.
