Can someone tell me (especially the console players) what attracts them to MW3, or rather what compells them to buy MW3 over replaying previous titles AND do you think that the latest iteration is well worth the asking price.

PLEASEEEE someone answer this question. Everyone is skirting this issue, no one is fessing up.

As an avid console and PC gamer, I'd buy it for additional content and to support the franchise I so love.

By additional content I mean new maps to wage war on and improved graphics / gameplay experience and mechanics.

Same reason I got all the Halos, Mario Brothers, Quake, Starcraft's or insert other franchise here.

I also thoroughly enjoyed the cinematic experience of the COD MW single player campaigns.

Is this sufficient??

I have serious reservations about the improved graphics and gameplay parts..serious reservations.

So basically, the addition of maps sufficiently justifies the $60 asking price in your opinion...

Most everyone of my PSN friends, cousins and family buy MW3. We have a casual clan active and just have fun in Call of Duty. New maps are always good and a good chunk of these "friends" like to play the senseless campaign.
On console at least, when you're guaranteed consistent gaming sessions with people you know, $60 is not much to pay for the hours of fun!

...and unfortunately, it's this thought-process that allows publishers like Activision, Capcom, and yes, EA too,
to get away with what they have been for the past few years.   :shakehead:

...and it will continue because you continue to vote with your wallets, to the actual detriment of the
genre, and by extension, the art form.

I think they should actually give you the choice of purchasing the single-player game separately.
There are many games I would happily just buy the SP for, at a reduced cost, if that was possible.

on the flip side arc, if we don't support them, these companies will fail and stop producing the games we so love.

So forgive me if I try to keep CoD alive.

It has brought countless hours of joy to my life, lol (reminisces on the good times spent with the P90)

Yes, they made a misstep here and there. No one is perfect.

I expect they'll continue with a graphical plateau so long as xbox 360 / PS3 is the platform of choice.

Once the next gen consoles are out, I strongly believe they will then invest heavily in an upgraded engine.

It makes business sense. Keep in mind, without a strong business model these companies will die. FAST. It's not like 20 years ago where making a bad game may cost you a few thousand dollars. Nowadays, its a SIGNIFICANT investment. Millions upon millions. As a result, they need to make the most out of the money spent on that current engine and game assets.

I know as a gamer, its not what you wanna hear Arc

Wyatt they will STILL keep producing even if we stop supporting them cause its a damn cash cow catered to the damn console players while we pc gamers get the $hitty end of the stick.

I supported Treyarch cause they knew what PC gamers wanted which were servers an mod support..........or lack of but in the end they still supported the game DAMN WELL.

What did IW do with MW2? 2 retarded map packs an done with that, they refuse to fix the other glitches an hacks that still plague the game hence I play on AlterIWnet.

As much as I want to play MW3 or BF3(dunno if I will have cash for the latter thanks to The Old Republic), there is something bout them that just makes me not want to play them at all I just cant put my finger on it with BF3 but with MW3? Akimbo? Overpowered looking Killstreaks, DEATHSTREAKS!? Just hope they put their money where their mouth is when they say they are bring back free servers cause if thats a lie then R.I.P COD indeed.

I imagine creating a single player campaign also costs a lot these days. As long as the CoD players think that it's worth the cost, that's all that matters.

Amen brother shiv.

hahaha @ Street Sweeper 5000 and wrath of crixx. You have me rollin' here Virtue.

I hear you on the PC gamers gettin the raw deal of recent Eagle. I really do.

Hence my rabid excitement over the inclusion of dedicated servers. That feature ALONE is enough to re-invigorate the PC scene and give it a solid trump over the console counterpart. Local servers iwmc.

Also, don't forget we also have a ton of console gamers in GATT (myself included) so nuking the CoD franchise because of a PC misstep would be remiss of us.

As a console gamer, mostly Xbox gamer...I can tell you what COD means to them. It means countless hours and days and months and yes, even years of sweats...everyday there are people on Xbox Live and PSN playing what? Call of Duty. From talking to quite a few of them about MW3, guess what? They plan on getting it...why? Because its fun to play with friends, and now with COD Elite, it makes it even more interesting to group up with friends and form clans and have clans competing which adds more value to the franchise. Yes, you may not think that the game looks any different, but until you play it, you wouldn't know. A new campaign is well worth the $60 you paying. With 16 maps and the friends that we will be playing with, more than makes up that $60. If we pay the $99 for the Hardened edition, we get 1 year of Premium Elite, which gives us ALL DLC for the year, which includes all the map packs that will be released, which is an even bigger bargain, because COD Elite by itself is $50 a year, and all the DLC map packs are worth at least another $60. Yes, its a Business and Activision has to make their money, but they are also looking at the fanbase and trying to give them what they want...PC's will have FREE Dedicated servers as Wyatt stated, which will certainly cater to PC gamers for sure...Is EA doing that? NO! How's that Dedicated Server petition going Awesome? If not so well, then I guess you will have no choice but to try to find decent Pings to play BF3 on...at least Activision listened and learned from their failure with MW2 and have come back with redemption on their minds, and I think they should be commended for trying to cater to ALL gamers...Right now, I am not happy with EA and Dice since the XBox is getting the short end of the stick with BF3. Not a working version yet, and game is supposed to drop next month...shame on them..but I'm not criticizing and talking out against BF3...

Lets all just agree to disagree and keep gaming....

I know it usually was, up till MW. From what I've heard, it still is.

Personally, it isn't going to be worth anything much to me as I stopped following the series after the original MW. World at War was a slap in the face to me and since then, i lost all interest in the CoD franchise. Till this day I still haven't finished WaW or even Black Ops...but i will be waiting for reviews on MW3.

The stories in WaW and Black Ops kept me playing cause I enjoyed fighting along side Jack Bauer and Commissioner Gordon (Sutherland and Oldman respectively) Plus the Co-Op campaign in WaW especially putting it as Competitive makes WaW worth playing. MW2 story was lackluster while I highly enjoyed Black Ops story from Mason's point of view before and after the whole Manchurian Candidate event.

Any cod story was any good? they all similar (with slight exception of Blops)

However never really played the singleplayer for the story. The action, and breakneck pacing were always second to none. Could never say I didn't enjoy playing a Call of Duty game.
Always got my money's worth if anything at least for the single player, and quite enjoyed the co op in WaW and MW2.
Multiplayer, well after Cod4 its been on a steady decline imo. Will wait to see how this latest iteration fares.
