this worth it? how does it stack up against stalker? some reviews say its great in story and atmosphere, but lacking severely in polish.

well, i only played the first 10 or so minutes and it was damn good. graphics are AMAZING. some of the best i've ever seen on my PC.

if dx10 lookin so sweet, dx11 must be sex. lol. i didn't want to play much as i don't intend to beat it just yet, but the little i've played seems

quite polished and refined. initial crashes were fixed with a few driver updates and it works fine now. if anything else, i think we have a new BEAST to test our rigs with.

Just finished this.

Another truly underrated and under-appreciated title.

Just like the Dead Space games, the story, the atmosphere, the sound,
and of course the rich DX11 visuals makes this one of 2010's standout games for me.

So much so that I am going to buy it as soon as I'm able.  I still believe that great games
should be supported wholeheartedly, to keep the devs in business.

Can't wait for Metro: Last Light.  That one is a sure buy.

Interesting.

I been wondering about this myself. Everytime I see a trailer, it blows me away.

Yet there is very little hype around GATT. So was thinking maybe this was a dud.

Whats the real story? Why no love?

I think people initially were thinking it was a stalker rip off, which it is not.

In fact i think its vastly superior. story feels more coherent, tho not as open ended, it feels more 'together' and fleshed out that stalker was, not to mention it looks gorgeous.

also there isn't any multiplayer component which is what sells the FPS genre nowadays, which is unfortunate.

game is also decidedly hefty graphics wise. this is the only game which slows down my machine when maxed. (aside of witcher 2 with ubersampling on)

also be wary of the very subtle morality system, apparently there are 2 endings. and me taking the shoot first approach got me the bad ending.

this game win yes. frustratingly hard in some parts, but not enough to detract from it.

solid 8/10

ah, no multiplayer. That explains it.

Still, when I got some free time, wouldn't mind taking a run through of this.

Reminds me a little of Reign of Fire.

Thanks for the heads up

Berzerk nailed it.

Number one reason why it was overlooked: no online multiplayer.

I tried to get into STALKER, but I couldn't.  This game *IS* what STALKER
should have been.  It's a different type of game...STALKER being open-ended/sandbox,
and this game being more linear, but I think what didn't work for STALKER, worked here.

...and yeah, make sure your rig is seriously up to snuff before trying to run this one
at max settings.  Right now it's the de-facto DX11 test-bench, and for good reason.
The depth-of-field, and tessellation have been implemented to a degree that can bring
some truly powerful rigs to their knees...kinda like the original Crysis when it debuted.

Still, it says something when a little known, year old game can look better than this year's
'best'.  Shame on you Crytek.  :shakehead:  We still waiting on DX11.

This game is also available on consoles, but it seems like 'no multiplayer' in a console
game is a cussword these days.

I am so glad that the game received such critical acclaim so as to basically greenlight a sequel.

Good times.

Only thing I fear for the sequel is that it will be less polished. First off, it has multiplayer. Second, rather than be PC-first, shoddy Xbox port added last-second, the sequel will be sandboxed Xbox/PS3/PC. We ALL know what the two aforementioned "features" did to a certain game earlier this year...
