Hope this helps some of the flyers out there.

Nice pointers there...especially the one about switching between 1st and 3rd person cameras during flight.
I actually have a button on my controller mapped to the 'switch camera' function just for that.  It's much easier to
find another jet, or perform evasive manoeuvres in 3rd person, and then immediately switch to 1st person for attack runs.

Same thing applies to choppers...even more so because you're usually closer to the ground.

A good tactic for successful missile evasion is to wait until you hear the missile-launch
tone before you deploy your flares and the dive for the nearest terrain feature that can mask you from the missile,
like a hill.  A lot of times you can spoof the missile into hitting something else, but only if the distance between you
and the missile-launch point is more than 500 metres.  I have used this tactic to great effect in maps with a lot of hilly
terrain, like Operation Firestorm, and Kharg Island.

If you have no terrain, then your next best bet is a manoeuvre called a 'Split-S', where you roll inverted,
and pull your nose below the horizon, and keep pulling until your plane is again flying level, but you'll be heading
in exactly the opposite direction from where you 1st entered the manoeuvre.  The most important thing about this
is that YOU MUST HAVE ENOUGH ALTITUDE.  I should not have to explain why.  :)

I really wish that DICE had implemented some sort of visual cue on your HUD as to the bearing and/or range to the incoming
missile.  It would have made it just a little more fair in my opinion.  It seems like the stinger and LAV launchers
have all the advantage.

We try to keep mumble lively and fun, if I ever go too far or not far enough give me a hollar and I will rectify the situation.  When you come on next time we will get on the same team to make it easier to get into the game a little faster, will learn how to run away from bullets as it is always dangerous around us most of the time.

If you still haven’t picked up a copy of Battlefield 3 on the PC and usually get your games on Valve’s Steam store, we have some interesting rumors to share with you. Whispers are now gathering on a possible Steam release for the game after EA’s initial stance that they would only be releasing the game on Origin.

There are two vital pieces of evidence that suggest that Battlefield 3 is coming to Steam and one of them appears to be more concrete than the other. If you head to this competition page being held by Sapphire, you’ll see that they are giving away one free copy of the game, but requires the user to redeem his or her code on Steam. Check out a portion of their terms below, as reported from VG247.

”One (1) PC Game code for Battlefield 3, redeemable for the game on Steam (www.steampowered.com) with a Suggested Retail Price of $USD 59.99”

Futhermore, a user has left a message on the official Steam forums revealing that there are a couple of Steam related files that are already located on the PC version of the game. If you want to check out these files for yourself, head to your installation directory for Punkbuster and you should see them.

If the news turns out to be true, then it means that EA has made a mighty u-turn on their opinions of Steam after initially saying that they wouldn’t be offering the game on Valve’s marketplace. Could it be that gamers are not taking too kindly to buying the game from EA’s own Origin store perhaps?

It’s great news for PC users regardless as it gives users a much easier way of picking up the game as Steam is easily the most used digital distribution store in terms of PC game sales. EA are probably well aware of this, so don’t be surprised to see an official announcement this week.

Would you pick up Battlefield 3 on Steam, should it become available or do you not care about where you get your games from?

Got damn! now that is news

Cannot stress how much I prefer to have all my games on steam (I know I know, shouldn't have all your eggs in one basket but its just too convenient)

I hope they'll allow us to activate our keys on steam that we purchased from Amazon.

It would be cool because now people can see when we are sweating battlefield 3 via our forum steam signatures as well.

+1 to you sir.
