Imagine Alpha invitees getting more benefits than those who BOUGHT moh last year. A FREE game, one of which is MOH.

$60 for moh last year a sub par game and 2 measley days headstart in the beta.

You know what? I DONT want that early beta access. Instead, give me HALF off the preorder price of BF3 and i'll forgive that grave insult!!!

lol that is why u dont spend $60US on a beta
pretty sure ppl knew MoH was gonna blow anyway

ill await beta to pass judgment on the console version
zh1ntro keepin his mouth shut on twitter and only givin me a run around with the concerns i have sayin "soon" steups

have no problem showing off how shiny the game looks but to comment on if we will be actual able to play with more than 3 friends this time is no comment.

nice update berserk

This issue explained in a nutshell:

Steam doesnt allow games to have an in game store that doesnt go through steam itself. bf3 crysis and dragon age all have stores that just get the dlc from ea, and steam doesn't see any of that money.

Doesn't get any clearer than that.

Maybe this also explains why League of Legends and HoN aren't available on steam. Since both of these have in game stores as well.

Doesn't ME2 have DLCs which are bought at Bioware's site?
Then why hasn't that been dumped?

I dont know if anyone has had the misfortune of having to contact steam support. First off, there is no live chat or phone support. Everything is done through email. Email responses from them take no less than 1-2 weeks, MUCH too long a turnaround time for such a big enterprise.

I recently had an issue with an EA game, used the live chat and instantly got the help that I needed.

Steam is stable and offers nice features but one has to remember that things were not always so rosy. I believe that with enough time, Origin (which is still in beta) will catch up in terms of functionality and stability.

As for non-ea titles, i'm seriously reconsidering finding an alternative for my game buying needs. I just find it completely unacceptable that I cannot pick up a phone and contact them immediately about an issue. That is just not going to fly.

Dirt 3 as well is available on steam (in some regions) and all DLC is bought through GFWL, futher nail in that theory's coffin.

Dragon Age 2 went straight to origin as well. most likely Mass effect 2 would eventually. I think the store closed already though, so it might not be affected.

And well Mass effect 3 Def not coming to steam.

Agree with Awesome too. Got Crysis 2 on origin. no issues. patches beautifully. it not as user friendly as steam, but that bound to change.

Im sure it would be perfectly optimized by the time Battlefield 3 comes out.

EA just needed a 'convenient' excuse.  Full stop.

They need to push Origin...hard, and Battlefield 3 will give them that.
I can't knock their hustle.  They're only trying to compete with one of the biggest
and most successful DDSes (Digital Distribution Services) out there.

BF3 will ensure they get a foot in the door, so-to-speak.

My only problem is how they're going about it.
Just come right out and tell us.  You want to push Origin, so no Steam.
How hard is that?  Those of us who really want it will still end up buying it.

If you wanna play the game on release day then you have little other choice than preordering on Origin. Only other option will be to bring down a disc.

You most likely will be able to add the game to your Origin account if you wish. Thats the case with all EA titles from 2009 to present, no matter where or which version you buy.

i chose to buy it on disk because Origin is a new product and to me that spells Beta product. i will listen around and hear the previews of ppl who are using the product and cussin for the many reasons evaluate if it is worthy. Not saying that its a bad product or anything but its a first release from EA so i just want to be cautious.

The only problem i have with Origin at the moment is the screwed up regional system for the store section, all prices are in euros. They said that they are working on it and i hope it gets fixed soon, as it affects a lot of countries all over the world. Besides that, I've placed orders, downloaded, patched games without issue. I use it everyday just as i use Steam.

There are little things that i would like to be changed, like the ability to use your own avatar and the layout of the store could be better. Other than that, no issues on my end so far. The only way you are going to know if it's a worthy product is if you try it yourself.

Origin may not be required to launch the retail version of BF 3 but I'm sure it will be required for auto-patching and DLC downloads. It is also confirmed that it will be required by future EA titles, so if you're thinking about picking up almost any EA title next year, you're gonna have to get used to it whether you like it or not.

So here is an interesting video. It shows the graphic cards tested in the Alpha and it's performance. The performance shown for the GTX 285 is more or less identical to figures i got in my own testing, so i assume all the data is accurate.

Very interesting results.

Wow...look at the CPU benches (pause at 3:25).  Some SERIOUS CPU-limitation with
what I thought were pretty gaming-capable Athlon IIs.

I guess it goes without saying that you pretty much need to upgrade to a Phenom II,
or a Core i7 (if you haven't, god alone knows why :laughing7:) to really maximise your
experience with this game.

Of course, this is months-old alpha code.  I'm guessing there will be WAY more optimisations
by release.  Or else it's upgrade-time for a lot of folks out there.  Is not everybody that can afford them higher-end CPUs.
