I just came across this article about BF Premium

http://mp1st.com/2012/05/30/bf3-battlefield-premium-fact-sheet-reveals-all/

Quote
Of course, this information is still unofficial until proven official by an announcement from EA or DICE.

Included in these five expansions are 20 maps, 20 new weapons, 10+ new vehicles, 4 new game modes, 30+ Assignments and 20+ new dog tags.

The list goes on:

2 weeks early access to all future Battlefield 3 expansion packs starting with Battlefield 3: Close Quarters.
    Unique in-game knife
    Unique in-game dog tags
    10+ unique soldier camos
    Unique weapon camos
    Stats reset feature
    10+ unique Platoon emblem decals
    Increased Platoon emblem layers
    Server queue priority
Save up to five of your favorite Battlefield Reports
    5+ unique Assignments

The server queue thing is a bit over the top IMO. Should be first come first serve :/
Other than that, it looks to be a pretty solid deal to me.

I agree, especially since close quarters, armored kill, and end game would add up to about $50US after tax anyway, you would jus get more for ya money

A next thing is the weapon unlocks. So since it's 20 new weapons but includes B2K, does that mean that we are only getting 10 new guns in CQ and then nothing else in the other 3 expansions? If so, this would be very disappointing.

Yeah it is a really good deal. Queue priority aside, I'll buy in a heartbeat. If they keep that in and continue down the CoD route, this game might be hitting my shelf way sooner than I expected.

June 4 (Reuters) - Video games maker Electronic Arts is introducing a new $50-a-year games service for players of "Battlefield 3" as it aims to boost its online sales and gain ground against bigger rival, Activision Blizzard, which sells the top-selling title "Call of Duty."

Wait, do they mean a $50 subscription? I guess we will know soon enough.

...but will it stay 'one-time'?

Activision showed everyone that the yearly subscription model can work for a shooter.

Can't say I'm surprised though.

You would think these big companies struggling to make ends meet.

Must find some way to end up nickel-and-diming the consumer with a surprising degree of ruthlessness.  That's just 'business' I guess.

Really a good buy if you were planning to buy all the DLC.  Queue priority? GG EA, way to b*tchslap fans who can't afford to buy premium for whatever reason, GG. This is the only thing I really hate about Premium. Double XP events, stats reset and the other little additions should be available to all. No need to restrict it, the content alone is worth the $50.  :protest:
