Yea man Arc all the i7's both sandy and non sandy have turbo boost. You just have it disabled in the bios.

TB is for noobs anyway :p

You're right.  I didn't even see anything pertaining to that in my BIOS.

Oh well, manual OC FTW.

oh.. turbo boost is not automatic OC or anything u know...

you do your manual OC's then it gives you a lil something extra...

Really?

My impression of the feature, was that it was only active if you left everything at default,
and if you decided to do manual OC'ing in the BIOS it was automatically disabled.

Lemme do some more reading.....

Correct Arc. TB is actually auto overclock. Once the feature is on, the OS will throttle frequency based on demand.

it will throttle frequency based on the current frequency you have...

so if you have say a 200 x 20 = 4.0ghz.. you will maintain 4.0... when turbo boost kicks in.. it might spike to 4.2ghz etc...

so its not as simple as auto overclocking.. it increases whatever you have set, when their is a demand

ok fellas,

so i did some tinkering, again not much time to play around... just enough time to do some stability testing and benchmarking...

this is the new score @ 4.2Ghz with HT:

@ arc... when i raised the voltage it actually sent the temps to high so i'm getting these speeds at relatively low voltages "1.47". i will do some testing to see how low of a voltage i can get this speed on but chances are i may stick to 4.0Ghz /w HT for daily use... we'll see how it goes

FTR Guys, all turbo boost does, is raise your multiplier by 1.
So if u hit yuh FSB/Bclk cap, turbo boost go give u more juice on d OC without stressing fsb/bclk.

So if u running 400 * 10 = 4ghz, enable turboboast is 4*11 = 4.4Ghz.

Thats all.

D feature that affects voltages and the like is speedstep. which works like crap on d old i7 line.

All of this works differently on sandy bridge doh. So if anybody want some explanation juss ask. Speedtep actualy fixed in sandy bridge, and turbo works alot diff. Its closer to auto-oc for noobs dan on i7 Gen 1.

Also @ 1.48~1.5 i was able to get 4.3 HT on that chip phoenix have. so 4.2 @ 1.47 shudnt be a prob. But d temps at that 4.3 HT, ur liquid rig have to be up to scotch, otherwise yuh bokied!
