I wondering how people will know who the maker of the socket assebly is before buying the board.

Good thing this problem only seems to occur under extreme conditions...but still...why take the chance?

Hmm... well we'll have to see if this problem trickles down into the lower clock spectrum... would hate to see systems running normally and then poof...

...and you know, I was going to post this, but when I read the article I realised that this won't occur
even through normal OC'ing.  If you're running at stock, this may not even apply.

This certainly would not deter me from buying.

Knowing what I know now, i'd feel unsafe running any kind of overclocking on a p55.

Damn...that sucks.  I can run my Q9650 (and have BEEN running it) at 1.44Vcore for hours on end, with no issues whatsoever.
1.4V isn't even comsidered 'extreme'.   Looks like Tom's got caught out with some other motherboards as well.

Not even Gigabyte is immune either.  Somebody at Foxconn needs to be SHOT, as its their 1156 socket giving 'trouble'.  Where's the QA on this one?

Now I'm actually glad I didn't wait.  Yuh know how I like a OC.  Imagine my utter horror if this had happened to my spanking new P55 parts.

775/1366 ftw yes.  :happy0203: (for now)
