Why not just go for a 700Watt or more PSU one time Wyatt?to easily support you upgrade plans.

Rest assured, the 600w is more than good enough

I am actually running the 6970 on an old 420W ThermalTake PSU at the moment. Not even breaking a sweat. Kid you not.

(Thanks Crixx)

besides, a 700W powersupply is "way too good for little chirren." (tm)

ah boy preston. Like yuh getting ready for some hard core action

6870 iwmc

Well aside from numerous games on steam summer sale (which I will not disclose in case the misses is reading this)

Last purchase was an OCZ ModXStream Pro 600W Modular High Performance Power Supply to replace my TT PurePower 600W that died.
OCZ ModXStream Pro Power Supply

De power supplies what are deadding.

Absolutely right. There is really no need for anything upwards of 800w PSU. Even systems running dual graphics, multiple hdd's and optical drives peak at about 480W MAXIMUM. I have my system connected to a kill-a-watt permanently so I can tell first hand.

Even good stuff like quad sli wont even make a good 750w psu sweat. There's a misconception that bigger is better. In actuality its much the opposite. PSU's work in such a way that they are more efficient the closer they are to their max output. The more excess capacity, the more inefficiently it operates.

thats through for efficiency on a whole... but it doesn't mean that your psu is better or worse etc... high efficiency just means its outputting a high amount in relation to its input...

its like @ high load its taking 1000W from the wall and outputting 900W (good efficiency)
@ low load its taking 1000W from the wall and outputting 400W (bad efficiency)

thats a basic representation but you get the jist, so dont go loading up your psu's expecting to get "better" performance :)

i order real stuff recently yes... 39 amazon orders in 30 days.. ridiculous... my last last purchase was ace combat on amazon sale :}

THIS!!!

That is why I bought it: a card notably cheaper than, yet performance similar to/slightly better than a HD6950/HD6970

Is not like I didn't do research... :cowboy:

and...meh.. I missed out on saving US$20 further on my purchase... still better than US$240+ for the HD6950/70

They're about the same actually however the 5870 uses alot more power than the 6870 and has higher temps all-round.
