bought from ECS for our passat cuz the plastic ones that came with the car broke

be wary of ECS with these kinda parts cuz right after i ordered it they realized

they didn't have this particular kit again didn't inform me and sent me half the kit i.e. 2 carriers and the cable

but they gave me store credit when i reported it without much fuss...... so i guess it got balanced out

Start looking into getting extra links, I bought one recently and unless your wrist thin, you gonna need some extra links.

Wow, no problems with that one? Saw lots of complaints about gaining a lot of time and even some that said it failed eventually. Dat inexpensive automatic look like trouble. I go stick with battery or solar.

glad u liked... about ur earlier question on the auto...
my one gripe cud be is that if the watch is not worn for 2 days... it looses time.. and eventually stops as more time goes along..
but its not a big issue since my watch is on most of the time

http://www.amazon.com/Micca-MPLAY-HD-Full-HD-Digital-Player/dp/B002XVBAKI/ref=pd_rhf_p_t_3

so I don't have to burn dvds anymore, actually shows better than ordinary dvd

also has hdmi 1080p, which I don't use as yet (still using CRT)

I am a little confused by the popularity of these devices.

So how do you get the media unto it?

Step 1) Download movie
Step 2) Copy Movie from PC to External Hard drive / Flash Drive
Step 3) Plug External Hard Drive / Flash Drive into Media Player

Seems a bit old school and involves some serious sneakernet if your computer isn't close to the TV.

And if the computer is close to the TV, why not just do TV out directly?

Its really hard to argue with that price though, for US$60.00 you replace an entire laptop in my HT setup.

Saving about US$500 right there. Though, you lose the coolness of being able to play games and browse the net on your TV (always great for showing friends/family a facebook album), direct streaming, etc...

Also, I shudder at the inclusion of yet another remote control in the living room after just managing to merge three into one earlier this week.

well like most devices they have their fit...

i.e. PC across the room or separate portion of the house.. this would come in very handy...

or if you have some none tech savvy ppl in the house... who jus wanna press power on and play... u put that for them and update d drive ever so often or w/e

Yeah, for a static dump of vids and movies, it makes perfect sense.

Like you said, load it up with a ton of episodes and movies, connect it to the living room TV, and yuh good to go.

However, in reality, I find that media gets stale fast.....that is, you're always watching something new and fresh.

Which translates to a lot of running back and forth to update that box. Not my idea of a good time, lol

Throw in a network card / wifi on that baby and now it becomes a win win product.

Somehow I expect TVs will just add in network connectivity / usb support to their bevy of features and kill this market segment in the not too distant future.

then again me and you might say it gettin fast cuz we always dlin... but some ppl download speeds kinda... lol suck.. so they cant dl fast enuff to be fresh...

but either way i agree... network card/wifi makes the product a win... specially if it was 60 bucks lol

TV in a separate room, have my own home office, was gonna build a HTPC, but this is a lot smaller

can connect a external hard drive, so you can have 1tb plus of video

transferring takes a lot less time than encoding and burning a dvd

third remote tho

Media players without network capabilities don't make much sense IMO. I own an Xtreamer and I have it connected via an

ethernet connection to my router. All I do is share the folders with my media over the network and the Xtreamer plays it.

Networking makes thing a lot more convenient.

I stand by my WDTV Live

Western Digital WD TV Live Network-ready HD Media Player

It is connected via Lan so streaming is excellent, plays pretty much every format I use. Only watching HD stuff these days.
I like the ability to use external usb hard drives and sticks, came in real handy while on vacation in tobago.

Well that is the perfect product right there and only US$40 more.

A weeks worth of KFC.

Now just for Sharp to integrate this into their Aquos line of LCDs or Flow to merge with their set top box so one remote does it all.
