This is based on an idea Walt himself had many many moons ago but it never saw fruition.

Saw some pretty sick and twisted "re-imaginings" of characters that were the foundation of many bright childhood memories and dreams.

Hope my kids don't visit a DisneyWorld in the not too distant future inspired by this "nightmare-ish" version.

Actually, I think the idea is pretty awesome. There are going to be a lot of nostalgic moments in the game, appealing to both old-schoolers and those who want a twist on a franchise that they see as stagnant.

Epic? I think so.

I've been to disney and I loved every second of it.

It is the stuff children's dreams are made off. (I'm hoping it stays that way)

This Epic Mickey BS is the stuff of nightmares. If you're not seeing that, then I must be on the wrong planet.

Start a new character line, re-imagine dark man or some other morbid works rather than taint our childhood canon. (Imagines his kid scared to go to bed because Zombie Goofy and EmoVampire Snow White might be lurking in the cupboard)

Somebody find me a websters and look up perversion.

its a darker reimiagination of Mickey, mostl likely with a steampunk flavoring. Im curious to see how it turns out.

I for one found MC Gee's Alice pretty cool, especially when u read the original works from lewis carroll.

you know better than me, that this game will fall precisely in the hands of kids (not to mention it's for the Wii which only makes that argument all the stronger)

I am sure they can make a title like this without dragging mickey along for the ride. Same for Alice, was a great game...but they didn't need to twist an innocent story like that, they could have come with original content and still kicked ass.

As a parent, I'm very very wary of titles like this.

its about money for Disney (and any other business for that matter)

they are trying to open the appeal of one of their core characters for a wider audience. not just have him forever him kiddy friendly.

and the wii is expanding its consumer base as well, look at titles such as madworld and resident evil dark side chronicles.


stagnation is death.

its up to the parents to ensure certain games stay out of their hands.

once the requiste rating system is in place, that part is done.


Also without reimagings where would some of our beloved superheroes be?

Nothing wrong with Disney creating some twisted as fcuk material, but I'm saying why do that with the mickey brand?

As for that blurb on parenting, let me tell you, once and for all, that parents will forever fail at keeping bad games out of their kids hands.

I am probably the most game centric parent on this island and I've seen my kid with a PSP running Grand Theft Auto that he borrowed from school.

That is mission impossible.

He was at some cybercafe the other day and played the CoD4 single player campaign in its entirety.

Parents aren't omnipresent super powered beings that you and regulators would make us out to be.

COD WaW on Wii sold 1.27 Million (not so bad- but TERRIBLE for the franchise). Mad World didnt even break even. Granted Mad World is a new franchise, but its statistical evidence of "certain" types of games on the Wii just not selling as they "should" is quite apparent. Been this way since Gamecube. Killer 7 and Eternal Darkness, great games.....not much people remember them, they didnt sell well either. This is my problem with this IP and the platform its on.


We are ALL aware of diamonds in the rough, great games that just never sold or did well. We can b!tch and cry about how it didnt sell as much as we like, but if it didnt sell, that franchise can stay dead, and be shelved forever. I think the designers behind this (whether or not it was envisioned by Walt Disney) should think more than "that is cool" when making this. You dont drop 40 million dollars on "wehy....that is a COOL idea" alone.

They are going to have to market this game smartly if they want it to sell on the wii. Doesnt matter if its awesome or not. The Wii is branded as a type of system, releasing Disney on the Wii will tell the parents "Hey Scooter! you want that Mickey Mouse game?". There has GOT to be something more than an ESRB rating if this game is going to be anything. F*cking up mickey on commercials will also be an issue. This isnt a new franchise where you can go all out, they have to show the element of "Disney" in a commercial but still get their marketing scheme accross. This game should be on a 360 or PS3 actually.

Personally I love this idea. Its a general new direction from the "re-imagining of and old series" bandwagon. I want to see what happens here.
