Arc, it too soon for MS to do anythign bout it if they wanted to. Yuh hada wait for at least SP1 for them to provide that (is microsoft). But i doh think is arrogance, alyuh have to understand where d men coming from.

Apple is a serious threath, ms has to make touch work. They stuck between a rock an a hard place.
Im sure if they gave power users the option to disable metro it would make no difference.
Why you guys want an option from microsoft to disable metro when u can do it yourself already?
Power users can already "easily" disalbe metro, hell it have 3 ways to do it already, what is alyuh complaint really?

Windows has always been that kind of platform, u can do whatever u want with it.
But microsoft kind of have to force feed a touch UI down ppl troat if they have to compete with apple.
Sure it can be argued they coulda easily provide d option to turn it off.
But at d same time d power users who would want to turn it off already can.....

And all companies will try to emulate apple becuase....they're the richest company in the world at the moment. lol. U cant blame MS for wanting some of that mobile pie.

I never see men complain so for something that so easily rectified yet. Geeze.
When it comes to android, ah easy bios mod, cyogen mod, etc etc, is alwasy alyuh answer, things that alot harder to do than download and install ah 9mb file. Why all d MS hate?

You make a decent point about MS allowing you to do what you want. Can't argue with that nah.

Too bad they dont allow that same leeway in their mobile os's like they used to pre windows mobile 7.

Still, I find it arrogant that they dont give people the choice themselves. Why do they have to go get a 3rd party program to do something that they should have included an option for.

Though I guess we should be thankful for small mercies. After all, windows 9/10 could see the platform lock down so tight that we cah bypass they way THEY want us to experience it, much like wm7/8. Enjoy it while it lasts I guess?

Exactly, enjoy it whiles it last, becuase if windows 8 sales take off, MS will basically castrate classic desktop. Windows 8 have to really really flop, for them to re-think metro, becuase metro is across xbox, pc, and wp, to change all 3, windows 8 hada rel rel rel frig up. Which i doh think happening. We go see.

And yea @ no leeway in mobile OS. They open it up significantlly for developers in wp8, but still a locked down system for consumers. Right now all US customers have portico update, and i have an international unlocked 920 and cyah get it till feb, *big wet watery stueps*, but i see nokia have d update for my phone on they servers, so studying if to flash it.

No, I can't blame them at all.  Mobile is where it's at right now...and it's slowly becoming the future.

...and I'm not 'hating'.  Far from it.  I bought TWO copies eh.  :laughing7:   ...and I might buy a third.

I'm just disappointed that MS seems to be not really caring about what customers want.

Cant argue with that.

So i guess it's in alyuh best interest for windows 8 to flop, becuase if it does not, u can kiss classic desktop goodbye.
And that would be a very scary state of affairs. Cause as much as i like metro, i do spend most of my time in desktop view. Thats where all my apps are. If everything i use go metro, then thats ah different case. But as of right now, i cant live wihtout desktop.

Again, we go see which way the cookie crumbles lol.

Hello?? It is not like Windows 7 going to just fold up and die.

I could game on that for the next 5 years, fuss it stable.

Same for the current sweet combo of Windows 8 + Classic Shell.

Microsoft don't really need to innovate much on the desktop. These are plenty capable as is.

Practically perfect.

Let them spend time getting the mobile aspect right. Desktop good to go.

Windows 8 is very good for HTPC use with a remote, no keyboard/mouse. Metro makes sense in this application as the first thing you click is xbmc or tv tuner app.

In an HTPC setting, I would let XBMC launch automatically.

The man just said the first thing he clicks is XBMC or TV Tuner app, in such a case, you should let XBMC launch automatically.

On the off time that you decide to do something other than watch media/tv with your HTPC, you can exit XBMC.

Metro makes sense in this application as the first thing you click is xbmc or tv tuner app.

It's funny, but it's very telling.

It basically spells out in detail what I, and many others have been saying ever since we got wind of this new 'direction' for Windows.
...but what do I know...I'm not a 'usability expert'.  :laughing7:

Luckily... (almost) every gripe can be fixed by Start8.  Problem solved.

That really means nothing if they are taking OEM purchases into consideration. In reality that could mean 2% retail and 98% OEM preload. Come on MS$ show us some real figures.
