Tried this game.  Didn't like it.  Promptly uninstalled it.

It ran like a puddle of thick horse-$#!t down a 5 degree slope, and the controls, even more so.

GRID strikes the correct balance (for me) of sim/arcade racing.  Its for this same reason I could never
get into the Project Gotham and Forza games.

As I always say, games should be fun, not work, and this game is frustrating at best.

I'll be waiting patiently on DiRT 2 and GRID 2.

Not saying its a bad game, but the experience left a sour taste.

Pass.

...and just to convince myself that I wasn't dreaming, I decided to give GRID a run,
and it still runs beautifully, with all settings maxed, and the controls are still as smooth
and buttery as I remember.

Need For Speed: SHIFT needs to 'shift' to one side and make way for GRID 2. :laughing7:

Has to be an ATi issue because your PC's more powerful than mine and the game runs flawlessly for me. But as I said earlier in the thread, I didn't like it either. I know I'll probably grow to like it once I get a racing wheel, but I think I'll put it aside until then.

Hmmmm, I actually like both games, strange how i actually can play shift a lil better on the gamepad than grid, but i haven't started up grid in a while oui. I just like how on my machine grid runs totally flawless, unless is a framerate teef head, but i find shift moving a bit suspect at times. Maybe my pc showing its age, but say wa... once cod4 running, fvck the rest..lol

when men with those kinda of specs having issues running a game, you KNOW the game is at fault.

i think me and arcman have similar rigs, minus the i7, and shift runs sweet on my machine, and i runin at 2560*1600 resolutions, i have AA off though, didnt try it with MAX AA yet.

Also, i find shift dread, and i controlling it better than grid, grid has good graphics and everything, but compared to the speed effect and rush i get from speed, grid not ready. i rather play NFS Carbon over grid. its just more fun. And well shift is d best of both worlds ill say. You just have to get used to the mechanics, if you go into it expecting it to be a grid, you wont like it, and if u go into it expecting it to be a normal NFS game, you wont like it. but once u get used to how it controls, it becomes easier, and easier, and easier. Check d raceline , that green line on d track, its important, and wil basicaly teach u how to play in a rel simplay way.

I tried to like it, I really did, but I just could not get it to run properly.  When I finally upgrade to Windows 7 and Catalyst 10,
I'll give it another go.

I know its supposed to lean more towards the simulation side, but come ON, I've played lots of racing games...even the sim ones, like TOCA 3, and GTR 2, (so I know all about racing line) and didn't have the problems with the controls that I'm currently having with this game.

Maybe I need more practice, but I don't have the patience right now.

thats really odd the issues you guys getting. this is one of my smoothest running games, even at 1900 x 1200 and 8 x aa and all other settings maxed. its also the most fun racing ive had in a long while despite me not having much love for sim type games.

OK, so now that I'm 'officially' on Windows 7, I decided to give this game another chance,
and MY OH MY, I will now officially EAT my words, with ketchup and mustard.

Never let it be said that Arcman doesn't admit when he is gravely WRONG.

Game runs silky smooth with ALL settings maxed out.  Gameplay is still a challenge,
but that challenge has now shifted to the in-game A.I.  Good GOD those A.I. drivers
are NASTY!!!  They 'think' nothing of just slamming you off the track at the MOST
INOPPORTUNE of moments, but then, I was doing it too. :happy0203:

Definitely a thinking man's racing game.  My controller can barely keep up.

Dare I say its Arcman Approved? :icon_thumleft:

Yeah, the A.I is aggressive. Is a good thing you can be aggressive as well and still get points.
