lol, the man first post and is lihixxxxxxxx immc. Harsh, we are so harsh.

I hope you're doing A LOT of driving for that diesel's cost savings to be realized anytime soon.

If you buy a gas car for 200,000.00 and spend $4000.00 a year in gas

vs

A diesel car for $220,000.00 and spend $2000.00 a year in diesel.

The diesel vehicle cost you $20,000 more and you only save $2000 a year in fuel costs.

That means it will take 10 years before the cost for going diesel breaks even, let alone makes financial sense.

something to consider.

That might have been generally true two decades ago laertes.

From my personal experience, the maintenance cost for the engine of a gas vehicle over the first 5 years of it's life is negligible.

amount of money spent on the mazda 323 engine over 5 years (gas): $5000.00

Amount of money spent on the peugeot engine over 5 years (gas): 0$.

Amount of money spent on the b15 engine over 5 years (gas): 0$

Amount of money spent on the Tuscon (diesel) engine over 2 years: 0$

That's been my personal experience.

Also would recommend selling whichever vehicle you've bought after five years and looking for a replacement.

Diesel ftmfw. I use a truck to go everywhere. $60 fills it and lasts a full week of dad making deliveries everyday and me going out on the weekends, all under a/c right through. Sure, I dont get as much speed and is a bit noisier but it doesnt bother me much.

I think only the first post is considered a necro (subsequent posts would be considered current timeline, lol)

What do you mean about the rate that fuel burns?

hit me an example using some figures. Not quite following but would love to get some clarity.

your right meng.

some things to add, may be a bit rusty on this though;

-diesel can produce more engery per burn than gas. which is why some say it 'heavy' or 'dense' as the case may be
-you save not because it burns slower (in a combustion engine burning slower would actually mean it is less powerful) but that it burns less per cycle than gas. to produce the same result
-gas is much more volatile than diesel, and
-i think gas engines are a bit less efficient [citation needed]

ofc they pollute the fk outta the air

Just got a new car and it can only use premium, huge sticker on the fuel lid says "95+ OCT ONLY" It sure is a bigger hit to the wallet compared to the super I would use in my old car.....

yeah, premium price is through the roof.

I filled the tank on a bmw x5 and it went to $350.00. Normally would fill for $240.00

Ridiculous.

If I get an X5 free, i would carefully park it up and proceed to immediately call express classifieds. I not on this 15 grand per headlight thing.
